My take is that if you’re going to break up a happy healthy committed straight ship to make room for a gay one (or vice versa, but lbr the former happens more often in fandom) then you HAVE to keep the characters’ insanity for each other intact. Like ok yes sure we can handwave it was a different time and we were younger and now that things are settled it’s for the best that we split” sure whatever BUT! I will not accept these guys becoming ambivalent to each other. You MUST maintain the fact that they would absolutely kill someone if the other asks. if you take away the romantic attraction then the years of history and emotion remain and now instead of kissing each other the blorbos just have to be really intense about their ex’s health and safety instead.

Everything is like “QUEER history” and “List of QUEER young adult books” or “Top 10 QUEER movies” and queer this and queer that and for the love of god please just say LGBT.

Fun new hobby: taking side characters with exactly 1 character trait or story purpose and working them into my story in very strange ways
Karma: former chosen warrior who is bored out of hismind after centuries of immortality because Brand went a bit too hard with the divine protection
Azuma: part of Alrond's information network, probably a cait in disguise
Kura: if you have divine blood, you just gotta roll with being recruited by three (!) gods to help with their plan to create a chosen one in Vide's vessel farming family and being turned into a dancer specifically to supercharged allure your way into the king's bedroom for that purpose

Suddenly remembered that one time I was coming home from the Ren Faire dressed as OOT Zelda, and we stopped off to eat at iHop, and there was a dad with two little girls there. And mentally i was like 'hohoho perhaps the girls will be excited to see A Princess, as I would have at that age' but what happened instead was the dad saw me and his eyes went REALLY wide and he gasped and said "PRINCESS ZELDA??????"

“Medieval peasants couldn’t handle my Spotify playlist” but could YOU handle a medieval bard relaying the epic of Beowulf over the course of an hour? Humble yourself.

the weirdly vengeful and petty tones aborted babies take in pro-life propaganda images are so funny like this passive aggressive "was it worth it mommy?" and "it's a shame you can't join me in heaven mommy 😔" like do you ever wonder if you were aborted for a reason you little bitch ass baby

Yeah, my problem is that it comes far too late (and not even as part of Hikari's actual story) and it doesn't really do anything for Hikari's character at that point. Probably because they didn't want to put the focus on one specific character that may not even be your main. But Oboro spends the whole game seemingly being one of the followers, then he gets to monologue for a bit and dies/sacrifices himself. And it has no real impact on Hikari and his worldview because he's not the protagonist anymore and other than the Vide fight nothing happens anymore anyway. That's no character development or acknowledgement of anything in a meaningful way in the story and hinges entirely on the players viewing it from that angle andnot just write Oboro off as evil (which can also happen easily if you don't find the journal)
I'd be a bit more open to him killing Ritsu if he hadn't done his whole "killing is bad" spiel in chapter 2 which frankly came across as very naive and kinda tone-deaf, but that's when the game decided everyone else was wrong and just took Hikari telling them that to change their minds. Samw with Rai Mei (that chapter was barely even about her). Making Ritsu the only one who doesn't jump on Hikari's friendship train, the only obvious commoner, *and* the only one who gets killed because he doesn't follow the hero. Not a great look imo. (That part of the localization is really bad and makes matters worse, but the unfortunate setup is already there.)
I don’t think my interpretation is unfeasible, quite the opposite actually. It just feels like the game refuses to entertain the idea that Hikari might be wrong about some things and confront him with that, instead of having everyone follow him unconditionally after one grand friendship speech or die, you know?
The more Hikari gets shoehorned into his NPCs' artwork, the needier I make him in my fics

On general subjects yeah but authors definitely shouldn't write about intimate personal details their loved ones have shared with them in confidence and not consented to have packaged and sold for the authors profit.

Okay but there's a difference between "shouldn't" and "shouldn't be ALLOWED", like you get that right. You get the difference between a conversation about ethics and social responsibility, and a rule that is enforced by those in power, right.

it sucks that even todo lists get affected by the adhd 'absorption of stationary objects into their environment thus leading to effective invisibility' thing

This may be the worst use of LLMs anyone has attempted, ever. Up there with recognizing mushrooms.
