Josie's story really is going to be Firepaw's but fucked up. Poor little baby, they don't deserve any harm done to them :(

Not meaning this in the bad way, I'm sure it will be very unique regardless (specially with the apprentices, I love Rampaw), but it's also a very interesting comic.

Don't worry, I am very aware of the similarities between Josie and Firepaw's stories. I even made an illustration about it!

Were there any inspirations for making this story?

When creating something every author is inspired by another thing. Every work is in some way a frankenstein amalgamation of things the author likes so yes, I'd say Red Smoke was inspired by quite a few things!

The main ones I can pinpoint are warrior cats fancomics I used to read as a kid (Convocations, Frostbite, Eye of the Raven), an old warrior cats AU of mine that I had back in 2020 and the music of artists like System of a Down and Everything Everything. One thing that also inspired a lot of Red Smoke are issues that me and many other fans had towards certain elements of Warrior Cats, both related to worldbulding and the content of the story. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Also I just want to repeat something I said on comicfury already: This comics will be a bit of a slowburn. It's important to the story that you get to know the characters well and see what kind of cats they are before we can move into full action. So please be patient and if the story at times will feel a bit slice-of-life-y, that's why

Also, I wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who has been supporting this comic so far. I fully expected that Red Smoke wouldn't get much attention at first. Meanwhile, we are only 4 pages in and the first one already has 151 notes, with the rest of them doing pretty good as well. This blog is gaining more and more followers everyday and I couldn't be happier! I know that at some point the readership will probably start naturally going down, but even then, this was the best launch I could possibly ask for and it's all thanks to you. Hope most of you will stick around for a good while <3

That's right, the day has finally come! I've been hard at work on this comic and now I can officially start putting it out on here. From now on Red Smoke will be releasing pages weekly, HOWEVER as a treat for all of you for the next 4 days I'll be putting out one page a day. Enjoy :]
