I really like when in a group of KH fans the admin takes defense of Kairi. In a discussion about her, there were a few people who bashed her for the same stupid reasons (the mistakes she made, being kidnapped etc.). His contribute, translated from Italian:

“Kairi doesn’t exist. She’s not a sentient entity who diriges her actions, she doesn’t “decide” anything. Kairi is written by Nomura, the same guy who writes the other characters. Her mistakes or senseless decisions are Nomura’s mistakes and senseless decisions.

“The only thing she does is being kidnapped”= I don’t even want to comment how this seems almost an action she does by her spontaneous will.

“She shouldn’t have attacked alone”= that scene with Xemnas wasn’t a battle with turns or a chess match. They all were going against Xemnas, and Xemnas was parrying them. Then arrived her chance, and she attacked like other ones did. It’s like telling it was without sense Goofy parried Terranort’s attack alone because in that frame there was only him to parry it. It wasn’t that Kairi went alone against Xemnas without telling others. I would say also that she did more in that scene than the rest of the cast.

“She trained to fight but then she has lost anyway”= it’ interesting you say this and the conclusion is “the character sucks” and not “what a sensless writing and bad using of characters.” Again, you’re not judging the performance of a real person who has her own decisions. If you put Kairi under training and then IT’S YOU WHO WRITE THAT SHE LOSES, because “oops, she’s weak and without experience”, it’s you writer that made a stupid thing and wrote senseless things. Not Kairi that sucks. It could have been with everyone else, you could have written Riku stayed in a place training to fight against Terranort, and then you showed him loosing. I would never have said you Riku sucks, but the script to be bad written.

If anything, Kairi is a victim, it’s not her fault for what you say.”
