Zelda Reacts Part 9
this has been one of THE most requested outfits (like across every platform this series has been shared on) so I just hope it lives up to expectations!!

they should invent a bus that never gets stuck in traffic because it's on its own path separated from the roads. and then chain multiple of them together and put it on rails. has anyone had this idea before.

i think bvz discourse really brings to light how little fans of the aa series think abt the games as political narratives: so much focus on his individual growth and redemption, rather than on where the story locates the origin of both his and other characters' racism, which structures/ideologies perpetuate it, and whether dgs actually successfully criticizes those structures. in general, it's fascinating to see how, when the topics of morality and how certain characters (mostly those on the prosecutors' end) act as public servants come up, no one really brings up the limits of what aa has to say about law and law enforcement, as an inherently carceral narrative which situates all of what is law within the realm of criminal justice, and the idea that maintaining public/social health is through imprisoning "bad guys".
it feels odd to me how much focus the fandom puts on wanking about... shipping, which characters you like and how, whether you enjoy a character in the correct way, etc, all the while enjoying a game series that has many questionable to concerning unexamined biases on law enforcement and general systemic violence.

there are points where barok seems to be knowingly coaching ryuu along. if you get too caught up in his general demeanour of grouchiness, it looks like he's just knocking down ryuu's arguments, but he's actually teaching ryuu a bunch of stuff ryuu would've learned if he was a real lawyer (lol). example:

ok, so he's just demanding the rules of the court be followed, because graydon being at the scene would complicate barok's case. but ten minutes later...

ryuu has fulfilled the task barok set him to (or a closely adjacent one) and now barok is taking the initiative to request the appropriate testimony. barok isn't even vaguely surprised. his attitude is almost like "good job. here's your next task." and there's very little hostility in any of this (by barok standards). he has a pretty clear idea of where this is going; he doesn't care if it ultimately means he loses; he wants to maneuver ryuu into performing his role as the defence correctly.
and i think it's really sweet how barok is lowkey taking care of ryuu('s career development) despite his surface efforts to hate ryuu :3

Editing the text boxes of TGAA not actually as daunting as one might think! (i say, elbow deep in a hex editor,)
The world is now truly my oyster.
I learned about how it can be done from this post. (It doesn't ask you to use a hex editor, I just had issues and, uh, needed some workarounds)
The text and control codes for a *ton* of what's happening in the game are all in the same files. Obviously, I'd be doing pretty minor changes before anything too substantial, but there's a lot of potential here within - theoretically - easy reach.
and of course i'm only using this responsibly.

bringing up the penalty bar outside of court for menacing effect is responsible.

(MAJOR TGAA2 SPOILERS)
Y’know, I don’t know anyone’s pointed this out before, but Shamspeare, Asman, Kazuma, and Genshin are all initially thought to have died, but are later revealed to have actually survived (albeit not for long in Asman and Genshin’s cases). I feel like that was very intentional, especially between Genshin and Kazuma. This is also contrasted with Brett, who was assumed to get off scot-free for her crimes, only to wind up dead.
#tgaa#the great ace attorney#ace attorney#william shamspeare#kazuma asogi#genshin asogi#jezaille brett#odie asman#tgaa spoilers#dai gyakuten saiban#dgs spoilers#dgs2#the only one who doesn’t really fit this interpretation is Gregson but it could be like Brett#where he’s such a major character that you wouldn’t expect him to die

“average person eats 3 spiders a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

kazuma changes. he wears a white suit, has a prosecutors badge, and acts cold and aggressive. yet when ryuunosuke asks him about it, he simply replies that ryuunosuke is the one that has changed. ryuunosuke’s change is more apparent- he becomes an upstanding defense attorney, becomes more confident and brave, and learns to find the truth even without a not guilty verdict. yet ryuunosuke is still himself. kazuma is still himself. kazuma seems incredibly evil, cold, and uncaring, but how much has he truly changed? kazuma has always been hotheaded, cutting off auchi’s hair and being extremely confident in himself. kazuma is still the same person as the man who was a defense attorney, but with nothing to lose. he is still himself. he is still kazuma asogi. he is the son of genshin asogi. the seeks the truth at all costs. he chips at his soul in his search for the truth. has he truly changed or is ryuunosuke the one who has matured?

I also forgot to mention that Kyurio Korekuta is Ernest and Lance Amano’s Ancestor
Here’s my TGAA ancestor Headcanons
Stronghart is Gant’s (self-explanatory, and all but canon)
Hosonaga is Gregory & Miles Edgeworths’ (Vibes)
Pavlova is Armie Buff’s, specifically through her mother (both are blonde-haired Russian girls who pretend, intentionally or otherwise, to be male)
Drebber is Dumas Gloomsbury’s (mostly based off of vibes, and is the reason why I also headcanon Drebber not getting the death penalty, as well as the fact that he was presumably charged with attempted murder, so that when he gets out of prison, he turns his life around)
Shamspeare is Birdly’s (Shamspeare was based off of Birdly, so it makes sense)
Juror No. 4/5 (The Typewrist/Telegrapher) is Primrose’s (Similar reason to Shamspeare/Birdly)
If anyone has any that they want to share, you’re free to do so.
Edit: Almost forgot about this, but Wagahai is the ancestor to “Waggy” in I2-2
