“ what about 𝗕𝗨𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗦? “

“ I've always tried to keep my personal life detached from my songs, but inevitably, once you start writing music seriously, memories crawl into the lyrics and the melody like spiders getting back to their nest.
Bumper Cars is a song where this happened in a particularly violent way. This "spider" comes from a very damaged relationship in my life, and I still can't listen nor perform this song without crying - the emotional connection is too strong.
It starts as a game, and at the beginning it's just endless fun and joy. Then the first bump happens, and once you get used to it, bumps get more and more strong and they shake you harder. The more you try to get to the person, the more you crash apart. ”

“ what about 𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗠𝗘 𝗦𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚? “

“ Love. The most used and abused topic of music since ever. I bet every single artist or group has written at least a song that talks about love: for a parent, a friend, a sibling, a lover.
We have always shared a deep love for each other, growing up together and slowly becoming interested in the same things — so it’s quite obvious that during our teenage years we confronted each other about our first romantic approaches.
I (Charlie) am much more of a rational person who tries to balance feelings with logic. Reggie, on the other hand, is a much more passionate and feelings-driven person.
Knowing each other has never been totally useful to understand each other’s conception of love, but writing down this song has really helped us to see the other’s view better. We’re both romantically involved with someone, at the moment — so it’s fair to say that part of the credits goes to the two people who put up with us on a daily basis. ”

“ Aside from its ridiculously catching tune, 'Scarecrow' is about not being able to communicate your feelings in a relationship. I decided to wrote it about an important family member, but I wanted people to relate to it - whether it was just because of a friendship, or a romantic relationship.

The “Scarecrow” is the person in the relationship that, because of their refusal to communicate their feelings - much like a scarecrow, which is unable to speak - they push people that love them away because they’re scared of getting hurt.

This song is a hopeful one though, I believe that if /you/ believe in it, through communication and open-heart conversation, everything can come back to its original state of happiness. ”

'' writing a song: it’s very helpful to start with something that’s true. if you start with something that’s false, you’re always covering your tracks. something simple and true, that has a lot of possibilities, is a nice way to begin. ,,

. 𝓡 — DUMBO, Brooklyn
               — 26.06.2019 —
              ( Moment n. 7 )

Uscire e socializzare diventavano improvvisamente azioni difficilissime.
Come quella sera.
