I actually think S4 is okay, I love how John finally realizes and accepts that he isn't a perfect good guy all the time — he isn't always the one saving others, sometimes or even often, he can be an idiot who needs help himself. And he has a lifetime ahead of him to learn how to be a better person and embrace the fact of imperfections.

And I think Sherlock in S4 has a new understanding of death.

Every Sherlock Holmes Adventure Ever:

"You see, but you do not observe," said my long, thin friend, as he lounged queerly in his arm chair, "We must put an end to this foul crime..."

"My, my!" I cried, "But how?"

"...by breaking the law," added Holmes, whose mind I admired like a schoolgirl the stars, his nostrils wide like that of a feral dog hard upon a scent. "Bring your gun, Doctor!"

"I am your man! You know, I always bring my gun."

Then we had Mrs Hudson fix us a quick supper. Holmes spent the rest of the day ecstatic and for a change did not take any cocain at all.

I am thinking about the beginning of Holmes's and Watson's relationship. We all know Sherlock Holmes enjoys being praised complimented on his deductions, so much he even blushes when Watson does it impulsively. I think it is safe to say that this endears Holmes to Watson, but also the other way round - Holmes enjoys Watson's company (for many reasons, but this is one). He enjoys being around someone who makes him feel good about himself.

And this made me think ... the one thing that immediately makes *me* want to marry a person is when they are laughing about my jokes. And if I think they are funny too, I will very desperately much try to become their friend.

So, I think it would be super cute if Holmes thinks Watson is hilarious. If Watson makes really dry, deadpan jokes he did not include in his stories because it doesn't seem fitting to him, but they just send Holmes. (Yes, I'm thinking of the Clive Merrisson laugh.) I imagine Watson making a remark that he knows nobody else will understand but it makes Holmes gasp and his eyes twinkle and he will snort very indelicately at a crime scene.

I just ... I love them so much. They are having such a good time with each other. Waaaahhhhh <3 <3 <3
