new alternian custom fonts... 2!

as promised i've finally gotten around to making more fonts for hiveswap new alternian! some more standard choices this time, along with the requested homestuck land font.

i've ALSO gone back and REDONE the first four fonts so that now they're more streamlined, and include punctuation and accurate sizing! i stuck with english punctuation so that all of the quirks would translate accurately.

all of the fonts should now be compatible with every canon troll's typing quirk except for damara, daraya, and potentially meulin.

these are free to use for whatever you like. i made all of them by hand, so sorry for any mistakes! i hope you enjoy!

its not even just terezi not understanding that she cant casually have a mutant boyfriend and also believe in alternian law because even vriska is a victim of alternian law because vriska legally cannot leave her abusive situation because the law says kids like vriska have to be stuck her and everyone like her deserves to be culled if they DARE not to take care of their abusive murder monsters you cant leave to go live with a friend or try and make it out on your own by getting a job or living in a cave you have to stay and take care of them and keep them alive so they can torture you more or the law says you die the law that terezi looks up to and im not saying terezi would kill vriska for only that but terezi has a pattern of contradictions of wanting to be a legislacerator so bad but not thinking about what that really would mean

also there are the many many murders terezi helped with (which are legally allowed by this law and actually required in vriskas case) but talking about every detail of how complicated and terrible terezi and vriska both are would take at least a novel - 💫🌺

vriska must be abused and also must murder all those lowbloods... legally required blood cycle (upheld by terezi)

yeah i think its just that characters like equius and eridan are neon signs of bigotry so that sticks out in peoples heads more

those two are so comically bad that its hard to forget how terrible they are but characters like terezi who have more subtle problems or like vriska who arent subtle at all about it but have so many other problems going on that it gets lost in the noise

but plenty of characters have weird or terrible or sometimes good opinions about alternia

vriska says and does a lot of insane things to lowbloods and looked up to MINDFANG, legislacerators uphold the law in an evil dictatorship and terezi wanted to be one, karkats never nice to highbloods but also buys into hating himself for being a mutant and idolizing the empress, gamzee grew up in a supremacist cult, and theres so much to talk about with feferi in so many different directions

there are definitely more examples with more characters but while were at it lets give it up for nepeta "castes are stupid" leijon and aradia "i hate bluebloods" megido because we need to talk about that more - 💫🌺

literally it's so funny that the only like. canonically radical trolls in the beta group are aradia feferi and nepeta (maybe sollux too actually? i feel like i remember something there but it's been a while i may be stupid) and i think tavros gets in by virtue of being so oppressed.

but yeah i want to talk about this shit all the time i really wish i had like a good brainworm for a story idea that takes place on alternia because i so rarely see this talked about or explored in detail. starts gnawing on the bars of my cage. god forbid we actually talk about like the genuine racism that the bluebloods commit because kankri poisoned those waters forever i guess

its not like theres anything WRONG with wanting your favorite characters to be cool and have amazing opinions all the time and be gay as hell so i get why people have the urge to write Very Smart Gays Being Very Smug About Things (the musical) but it reminds me of how people complain about how rosemary is in the background of davekat fics except you also see it sometimes in solo posts and fanfics where you cant blame it on some kind of yaoi black hole you can do and like whatever you want obviously but personally all of the juiciest bits of characterization and interesting things about characters are caught up in all of the mess and all of the bits where they suck more than youd think they do terezi starting out as kind of a bad person who mostly looks good standing next to vriska because vriska is so loudly and intensely a mess is interesting the fact that shes sooo into the legislacerator thing even though she dated karkat whos a gay mutant (that she would never and does never attempt to kill) is a funny contradiction, the kind that shes absolutely FULL of and i love pulling on those and seeing where we go its like grrrr grr chews on your character flaws and unravels your strange birds nest of a world view or whatever - 💫🌺

i think if you write a society where relationships that you would consider queer are normal, there should still be ways to be queer in the fictional cultural context you invent. like karkat
