Christmas and the human race.
People ask me why I hate Christmas. Let's get into this.
I don't hate Christmas but working in retail has given me a somewhat unique perspective. I have been intimidated, verbally abused, physically threatened and I had to stand there and take it without the ability to stand up for myself or suddenly I find myself without the ability to pay for things like rent and food. Christmas turns the human race into vile, nasty self important assholes who do not care who they hurt as long as Little Johnny can open his overpriced Chinese made piece of shit and hope they forget what  a shitty parent you are for 364 days out of the year. Faith, Hope and charity suddenly do not exist when an Xbox is on sale let me tell you. If you happen to be sold out then my god... Pompeii didn't suffer as bad as you are about to.
To anyone who thinks using the phrase "You've ruined Christmas!" to try and get what you want, heres a tip, don't bother. It's a joke to us in fact most of us have a running tally on how many times it's said to us in a season, the results may shock you..
In addition to getting screamed at for things we have no control over we also have to endure the shitty policies and managers of the company we work for. Opening on holidays for example. Instead of having a nice relaxing and recharging Thanksgiving with family and friends we have to completely rearrange our famlies schedules, eat way too early then come to work on one of the biggest holidays in the country to deal with people who have had a little too much wine and have nothing better to do then go shopping. After about the 10th person who is a belligerent cunt bucket you just start daydreaming of taking their cheap imitation Louis Vatton bag and beating them with it until they stop twitching. Men are bad but you ladies are way worse, someone lit the fuse on your tampon and you explode for the world to see. Men for the most part are hot air, lots of fuck this and fuck that but you ladies turn into the most hateful, spiteful downright demonic beings i've ever seen cause we ran out of the new iphone.
Oh and I hope you really really enjoy your co-workers because you'll be seeing them more than your family for the next three months. Because of company policy you are not allowed to ask for time off from late October to January.
Managers will happily throw you under the bus for following store policy. They make you look like the asshole for simply doing what you agreed to do when you were hired, just to try and salvage their own shitty career.
The holiday season to a retail employee is a war zone, we are just trying to survive. When January finally comes we celebrate, because dealing with the normal jerk customers is a cakewalk compared to the holiday crowd.
I will never ever ever work in retail again. I'd rather be homeless.
So in short I don't hate Christmas i hate what it does to people. To those rare customers who simply shrug and say "oh well".. thank you, from the bottom of my heart thank you for not being despicable to your fellow human beings.

President Trump
My message to President elect Trump is simple. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. The job you are about to have will be the most stressful thing you have ever attempted. I hope your spine doesn't shatter under the pressure of carrying this nation on your back. You want to "make America great again",fine do it. You have the means. You have a Republican Congress. You will have a Republican Supreme Court. So shut up and work. I will reserve my judgment for 3 1/2 years from now.

Nintendo Halting production of Wii U (rumor)
Nintendo Halting production of Wii U (rumor)
So it has come to my attention that floating around the rumor mill is that Nintendo is halting production of their Wii U console. This could mean many things if in fact it is true. This could mean Nintendo is ramping up to begin production of it’s new NX console. It could mean that Nintendo simply thinks they have enough back stock of the Wii U to supply sales until X year. Again if this is true…

The Division Review
“If Borderlands and Gears of War had a baby”   Tom Clancy games have come a long way. I remember one of my first multiplayer shooter experience being the original Rainbow Six. It was pretty amazing. I was one hell of a sniper. I played it on the MSN gaming Zone and it was one of my first and fondest online gaming memories. The tactical shooter genre was born with Rainbow Six. Fast forward and we…

Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Review
Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Review
Hyper kinetic insanity. Alright to get it out of the way. Shame on you Capcom for making us pay full price for what could have been accomplished in a DLC. Or better yet not released MVC3 at all and just released ultimate. Bad form Capcom bad form. Now on to the game. Ultimate marvel vs Capcom 3 takes 2-D fighting games to insane heights. This game is one giant hyper mode from start to finish. The…

Mass Effect 3 Review
Mass Effect 3 Review
Mass Effect, oh how I love thee. One of the best and most original sci-fi Ip’s to come along in a very long time. It manages to do away with some old cliches and walked that fine line between plausible and completely fiction. The first installment was released in 2007 and mass Effect 2 in 2009. The trilogy has given us an unprecedented ability to carry over our previous saves from the past games…

More goings on in the world of gaming. With a little personal history
Forgive me this blog may ramble quite a bit, i’ve got a lot to say and it may not all come out organized.
Well it’s been a weird few weeks in gamerville. Gamergate, a consumer revolt against corrupt journalism in gaming, is still going strong. We ( i say we because i support Gamergate) have won some major consumer victories against the Gawker media group (one of the chief offenders in the grand scheme). Though expressing our concerns we have manged to get several advertisers to sever business ties with Gawker, costing the media company millions of dollars. and Anonymous pledged support as well.  yay go us.
In light of that there was a small type of victory video on youtube , taking quotes from a few in the revolt and it got me thinking and reflecting.
I was born in 1980. I was an infant when the crash of 83 hit the market. When the big great heroic hand of Mario and Nintendo single handedly breathed new life into gaming I was ready and I had my NES soon after.
I am a Geek first and foremost, i always have been. I love computers, technology, games, Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars and anything else. I still love these things. I guess that makes me an OG Gamer, one of the original, that first wave of kids who made gaming an integral part of their life.
Here is where I get brutally honest and the part where I actually do fit a stereotype. I was a fat nerd, I was overweight, I wore thick glasses, I was not very physically adept, I played no sports. I concentrated on my mental muscles not my physical ones. I lost myself in games, in video games I was the hero, I was the one people worshiped. I was everything I wanted to be. It was the land of make believe and I knew that. But it let me escape the genetic hand I was dealt for a while.
Most of my Geeky friends in school had a Nintendo and that was our common bond, that is what caused us to be friends. We clung to each other because we were the outcasts, not only because we were gamers but because we were nerds, one of the most hated cultures in the schoolyard. We were beat up, we had property vandalized, we were humiliated, and no one came to our rescue. We were totally at the mercy of the bullies that made our lives living hells every single day.
This was before the internet, I know it’s hard to imagine life without it now, but your existence was literally limited to your neighborhood. This was our whole world only many many years later did we realize it was just a microcosm of the world. We vowed to one another that we would not treat each other with disdain that we would not bully one another, that we would not treat each other badly. We would welcome anyone that had the same interested as we did. The outcasts stuck together, we were safe with each other, strength in numbers.
When the internet and long range communication became accessible, for the first time we saw the world, the whole world, and we lept for joy at what we saw. The ones embracing the internet back then were geeks, the average Joe didn’t care about this weird new thing called the internet, hell computers were still thousands of dollars to buy so not many had one. But the word got out, there were others like us, gamers and geeks all over the country and the world, all with the same problems as us, but more importantly the same love for games as us. This sounds like im romanticizing it but im not , this is how it felt. Other people outside my little neighborhood and school that were like us. We flung our virtual arms around each other and vowed to never let go.
The culture was young and there was almost no ways to connect with one another other then very basic websites and very basic IM systems like AIM and MSN. One of the earliest online gaming memories I have was playing rainbow six on the MSN gaming zone. God I loved it. i was completely fascinated by the fact I was playing games with people in other states. it was one of the greatest highs I’ve ever experienced. and the absolute best thing? We didn’t talk about the world, we didnt talk about race, sex, creed ect, we just talked about games, We were so exited just to have others to talk to about games.
We were still outcasts but at least we knew there were more and more of us. It was around this time I was in High School… the 6th ring of hell. High School was a nightmare for me, Everyday i was made to feel completely worthless by my peers. I was beat up, i was bullied, i was humiliated… Depression sunk in and to add insult to injury i was still a fat kid and completely unappealing to girls. This was (so far) the rock bottom of my life. I never thought of self harm but I was in misery. I would use any excuse to not go to school. The only thing that made me feel better was games. Some of the absolute greats came out at that time SNES games Like Final Fantasy VI for instance (my favorite game ever) It made it bearable, I just need to get though this school day then I can go home and game. it was my solace.
When gaming went mainstream in the early 2000’s i could not be happier. Finally the validation i always wanted. Being a geek was cool now and all the factions that berated me were now coming into the folds of being gamers. and we welcomed them, we fucking welcomed them all, without reprisal, without refusal, no payback , everything was square. You want a slice of our pie, ok but you’re not allowed to make fun of it anymore. and those terms were agreed upon. All was well in the kingdom and it was fucking amazing.
Now here we are, the bullies and antagonists are breaking the rules. They are back to bullying us and trying to re attach all those negative stereotypes to gamers again. Thats why I fight for gamergate, thats why i believe in it. Because as soon as the “core” gamers, us OG’s that helped make the rules in the beginning are saying “hey these thigns are kind of fucked up and heres why” and now were getting the old “Shut up you fucking nerd and know your place"
No wonder gamergate is pushing back, how dare they , how fucking dare  they,  we accepted everyone with open arms and who the fuck are you to tell me to shut up and go away?
gaming journalism is corrupt beyond belief and we have legitimate complaints and issues, and just because you’re a bully who writes for X publication does not give you the right to burn down everything we’ve built. There is a cancer here and we need to cut it out, there is no place in this culture for death threats, violence, bigotry. hate and intolerance.
If you hate nerds, you have no place here
if You hate gamers , you have no place here
If you hate women you have no place here.
If you hate men you have no place here.
If you hate blacks, Asian, middle eastern or any other minority, you have no place here.
If you want to commit violence on people, you have no place here.
This is a declaration from all of gaming, If you want to spew hate, violence and intolerance, get the fuck out we do not want you.
This is what gamergate fights for, the original concept, love and fellowship and gaming for all.
Come to the table and talk with gamergate, address our concerns openly and honestly and lets get back on track.

How retail screws your head up for a real job. (NSFW)
Recently I have been fortunate enough to get a new job. For the first time in my life I can see myself turning this into a career. However I noticed a few quirks that I wasn't really prepared for.
Let me start at the beginning.
I have been working in retail most of my life. When I was in High School my first job was at a local grocery store. When I was in college I worked at Target, and I just recently finished with two years at Best Buy. Retail is what my definition of a job was. Long hours on your feet, angry customers who blame you for everything under the sun, asshole managers and supervisors on a power trip, floating schedules with inconsistent hours.
Anyone who can make a career out of retail has my blessing. It is a cut throat, lazy, obnoxious world full of teenagers who have no work ethic or sense of responsibility, Most of them are college students looking for something to supplement their food/gas budget from their parents. Most managers and supervisors are on a wild power trip because what sliver of authority they have has gone straight to their heads and feel that they are now exempt from actually working anymore. If you survive it you have the pride in saying you are a manager of a store... A manager whos salary is still not above 80,000 a year and still a faceless , nameless nobody to the huge corporation that owns said store, your kingdom is small indeed.
Customers... The bile spewing, rancid smelling, hate filled acid lined driveling carcass of human beings. You will learn to hate people if you work in retail long enough. You will wish such violence on them it would make josef mengele blush. Retail is the only business (that I know of) where you are required to stand there while another human being verbally berates you, your business, your ethics, your morality, and your sense of humor... (often over something you had no control over in the first place) I've been called a fucking moron, a fucking asshole and more, and you have to stand there and take it, for one gesture of reproach and it's the unemployment line for you because the customer is always fucking right. After these whiny fucking maggots get done dressing you down right there on the sales floor, they demand to see a manager who kisses their ass like no tomorrow and gives them everything they want and usually more. If one single manager ever took my side and told the customer to leave the store and never come back i'd fucking have a heart attack right then and there. While i'm on the subject just because you have more money then I do doesn't give you cockstains the right or the entitlement to think just because you spend thousands here you can walk all over the people that work there. Fuck you and fuck your money, Like a multi-million dollar a year company will go broke because you decide to spend your 300 bucks elsewhere for once.
So here I am, stressed out, barely affording to hold my life together, short tempered, on edge, frazzled, blood pressure shooting though the roof , happy little retail fucking worker, cause heaven forbid i become something worse... a welfare recipient. At least with food stamps I would have had less of an urge to violently murder my fellow man...
This is what I thought the professional world was, This is what I honestly saw as my future for the next 30 or so years. This is what I thought it meant to be an adult and provide for yourself, to stand on your own two feet, only to shovel the shit everyone else lays down and it was earth shatteringly depressing... Thank god I was wrong.
On a whim I managed to land a comfy 2nd shift gig at a prominent telecom company. 4pm -12:30am with Sundays and Mondays off. Finally my professional world has some stability. No more working open to close only to open the next day all over again, without managers giving a shit as to the toll on your mind and body. I can finally start to plan out my off duty hours knowing exactly when i'll have off every week. No more danger of "Shift work sleep disorder" (yes thats a real thing).
The hike in pay, oh my god I can't describe how this feels. When I left retail I was making $10.30 an hour. To be fair it's more then minimum wage where I live (but not by much). I was barely making ends meet. When I got paid I looked at my hard earned money in the bank for about two days before it magically left me to pay for bills, food and my apartment. Only thing for me to do was repeat the whole cycle over again, and again in two weeks watch my money fly away, and if I wanted medical insurance, it took more of that precious cash from my check so I couldn't afford it (not with student loans to pay back). I was surviving, not thriving. Now I make in one shift what it took me almost three in retail.
But I noticed a few things as I settled into my new job, which brings me to the point finally. The habits you pick up in retail will make you a wreak when you finally get out into the real jobs.
Your "always be productive" mindset will make you paranoid. THis is a mindset that is beaten into you  in retail. I was actually told that if i punched in before putting my lunch away i was "Stealing" from the company. If you did anything other then stocking, cleaning or helping customers you were "stealing" from the company. Every single second that you are on the clock you must be "working", and there are plenty of people that will nag and pester the shit out of you if they feel you are doing "nothing". My first few days at my new job I had a constant fear I was going to be yelled at or fired for not working hard enough. So much so that I finally brought up my feelings to my supervisor who thought I was silly, he told me it would be weeks before I learned my new job enough to actually be productive. I just stared at him like he was weird, how could I be expected not to bust my ass till it falls off from day one?
A real Job/career treats you like an adult. Another thing I noticed is that in my new job it's up to me to get things done and I alone am held accountable when I don't. I have to get from A to Z, but how I get there is completely up to me. I don't have someone breathing down my neck making sure I do every single little detail. giving me a task then checking back in with me every five minutes to make sure i'm still on task. nope not anymore, now i get a task and it's my job to do it start to finish and no one bothers me about it, sure the supervisor will make sure i'm ok, but thats only because i'm new. More responsibility = more freedom. It's up to you to punch back in from lunch on time, it's up to you to finish your tasks properly. No one lurks over your shoulder constantly nagging you. And if you take a 17 minute break instead of a 15, no one gives a shit.
Your perception of busy is warped. This is kind of a weird one, but on my first day The guy I was training with just casually says "wow it's getting busy in here". I look up from what I was doing and take a look around, it was quiet, no one was moving, it was calm and perfectly serene. I almost laughed out loud. Busy to me means people shouting, workers frantically running around trying to help as many people as humanly possible cause god forbid they staff the store with enough people. Stacking customers 3-4-5 deep, and generally losing your mind. There was none of that, there was only the soft murmur of people on the phone and an occasional squeaky chair. I would definitely have to get used to this definition of busy.
I come home now without my feet being sore, without my back aching, without my wits frazzled and without stress. I am energized instead of falling into bed. I have a much more positive outlook on damn near everything, and all it took was for me to decide to change that. It took me just applying on a whim for this new job. We should all be so lucky. I have a career now and my time in retail fucked my head completely up. I have to keep telling myself this is what a real business is, that treats it's workers like assets , not cattle.

What #gamergate needs to do if it wants to stay in this fight.
Some of you won't like hearing this, but do you want to win or not?
1, Abandon #gamergate, it is tainted and no one is listening to your real message, only getting buried in talk of violence and misogyny. Spending too much time defending the hashtag and not discussing the legitimate problems.
2, reorganize into a formal, structured non profit organization.
3, elect a leader and a PR rep (maybe a few of them)
4, Put a website up with a very clear mission statement and a very clear condemnation of violence.
5, As much as possible publish a member list, this way anyone claiming affiliation making threats can instantly be identified as a non member and denounced.
6, start spreading the word,  not just though the internet but at cons and gatherings as well, invite people to talk and learn more about our goals.
7. use social media sparingly, it is far too easy to get drawn into a flame war.
8, Intergrate #notyourshield ,  they mirror our concerns why keep them separate.
9, Ignore people like Anita Sarkeesian and Brianna Wu when they are baiting. Challenge them to debate officially and encourage open discussion but ignore the baiting attempts.
10, remain peaceful and focused on the message.
by the way the new organization can be called
1up - For fair and ethical gaming journalism.
instantly something every gamer can identify with.

The sad truth about #gamergate (mature language)
Yesterday I wrote an article proudly proclaiming my support for #gamergate. While I continue to support what the Intent behind #gamergate is I can no longer be a part of the movement itself, A movement I have been a part of almost since the beginning.
I feel #gamergate will ultimately fail and here is why.
We have to remember a few things, the most important being how this all got started. It all got started by a butthurt ex boyfriend airing his dirty laundry on the net for all to see.
Not the greatest catalyst to start a "gamers" rights movement. The foundation on which this entire thing was based was on a cranky man-child slut-shaming his ex. Personally I think Zoe Quinn is a piece of trash who used her vagina to get where she is professionally, but I didn't have to find all of that out from a butthurt ex on the internet.
So here we have the origin of the movement, the very genesis of #gamergate began with a conflict between male and female - and #gamergate supportes wonder why it's so hard for people to understand that is not what #gamergate is supposedly about.
The Narrative got skewed from from the word go. What we saw in the Zoe Quinn debacle was obvious corruption and collusion in the indie game scene. What average Joe internet browser saw was gamers getting pissed over a domestic debacle that spilled out onto the net (and seeming to not take the females side despite the fact she didn't deserve to be defended) All #gamergate detractors needed to do was reinforce that #gamergate came from a place of misogyny and that was all it needed.
I just want to say this before I go on. There is a genuine fear in gaming and everywhere else (especially in the workplace) that males dare not speak out against something a female is doing or it could be considered harassment. The harassment ball is firmly in a females court when it comes to claims of harassment. and to not take the females side even if she is dead wrong males are afraid they will be labeled as misogynist and blackballed. I have seen this in my professional career where i kept my mouth shut on some things just because I didn't want to invite that kind of singling out of myself. I cannot overstate this enough, women have all the power when it comes to harassment leaving a male with little to nothing to defend the accusation off with.
It is this power that #gamergate detractors invoke time and time again to smear and misdirect from any legitimate concerns #gamergate raises.
We have already lost, Social Justice Warriors and radical feminists, and professional victims have already infiltrated gaming and gaming culture. They are developers, they are journalists and they are gamers. These people do not want a peaceful coexistence , they have an "out with the old, in with the new" agenda. They want to systematically stamp out any aspect of gaming they do not agree with. They don't want middle ground, they want eradication.
#gamergate is pushing back, but the way they are pushing back is doing more harm then good. They are not closing some nasty loop holes that allow the detractors to keep maintaining the same narrative that #gamergate is full of misogynists and violent people-and since the people aginst #gamergate have much much bigger megaphones and that is the message the majority of people are getting.
So what to do? What to do against an opponent who has status quo and popular opinion?
You get more organized, not less
#gamergate needs to nominate a leader, or at the very least a public mouthpiece, someone to verbally contradict the detractors live and in person.
#gamergate also needs a central command center, Twitter isnt gonna cut it. A website, something, some central location not in a corner of the net but right up front and center.
#gamergate also needs to start scheduling talks and appearances, pass out memos at cons, invite people to Q&A sessions, things like that.
Keep things like this going, this wasn't perfect but it's a start. the more media coverage to tell our side the better.

You want #gamergate detractors to take us seriously then we need to act seriously, and professional.
However the collective rejecting of these ideas is why I feel #gamergate will ultimately fail without having any real impact. I wish it were not true but unless it gets serious all we will ever see of #gamergate is a Twitter fight, and thats sad because it does raise some legit issues in the gaming industry.

so brianna wu who is claiming to have been harassed by gamers just called an autistic person a “gross fucking aspie”. these are the people that think they have the moral high ground and the authority to speak for women and minorities. but when those minorities call them out they’re very quick to throw out ableist slurs. nice going wu, you nasty sket.

Time to talk about #gamergate
Well something has finally made me blow the dust off of this tumblr. It's been a while but I finally found something to get my big mouth going again.
#gamergate
You might have not heard of it and I'm not surprised. Unfortunately It is a very complicated issue. here is the basics in a very quick nutshell.

#gamergate is about 2 things
1, Harsher ethical standards and transparency in gaming journalism
2, Defending gaming from neo-feminists and "Social Justice Warriors" who would hijack gaming for their own personal ends and push their own political agenda.
Thats it, thats all the supporters want. Leave gaming alone and separate the relationships gaming journalists have with the subjects they write about.
I have been a gamer since as long as I can remember. I love video games and growing up almost in parallel with the industry (I was born in 1980) I can easily say I have never ever seen any gamers have any vendetta or agenda against females. I fact we joke quite often about how much of a "sausage" fest gaming is, and how nice it would be to see more females in our hobby.
So as someone who is not in the industry, on the outside looking in, I have no idea how this hijacking of gaming by radical Social Justice Warriors came about. We (gamers) were completely bushwhacked. These people infiltrated gaming right under our noses and sadly it has gotten to the point where we need to resist these people and influences openly.
#gamergate is rapidly becoming the last line of defense against people who would smear gamers and gaming culture as Misogynists and trying to destroy our culture and the games we love.
Now I don't know how this narrative took hold. I have been a gamer since the mid 80's I dare say I grew up hand in hand with gaming. Never once have I ever seen a gamer voicing a dislike for the female gender. Now does misogyny exist in gaming? Yes, but it exists everywhere so I don't know why gaming is being singled out. Gamers are some of the most accepting people, the only requirement we have is the love of video games. We don't care if you are black, white, purple, male female or both, we simply don't give a shit, If you love games then you will be welcomed with open arms.
However... there are a few people who love what they want to make gaming to be, not what it is. People like Brianna Wu, Anita Sarkeesian and other Social Justice Warriors and Neo Feminists. They do not want to be let in the clubhouse and be happy they are there like the rest of us are. They want to kick down the clubhouse door and change everything in it because they don't like whats in it when they got there.
For the longest time we have had two simple rules that united gaming
1, never talk about religion or politics, they have no place in gaming
2, all are welcome to love what we love.
Thats it, follow these two simple rules and all will be well in the kingdom.
However Social Justice warriors are guilty of breaking both rules. They are trying to take over gaming to push a political agenda and they certainly do not love what we do because they are trying to destroy it and rebuild it in their own twisted image. I dread the day if these people win this fight, all gaming will be nothing but games like "depression Quest". Masculinity in all it's formed will be forever shunned from gaming forever.
AM I a misogynist? I'd like to think i'm not but the definition of the word changes depending on who you ask. So here is the textbook definition
mi·sog·y·nist
məˈsäjənəst/
noun
1.
a person who dislikes, despises, or is strongly prejudiced against women.
Oh phew false alarm i am certainly not one of those, but when we switch over to Urban Dictionary we find 22 definitions of the same word. Within 22 definitions that can pretty much cover anyone. So the word has gotten broader and broader to encompass more and more. Honestly I feel women use it as their trump card. Very much like a person using race or upbringing to their advantage there are women using their gender.
We see the gender bias slant sharply in a woman's favor over things like harassment, it is much much easier for a woman to successfully claim a man has harassed her then it is for a man to claim a woman harassed him.
That is the power these women like Brianna Wu wield on a daily basis, I call them professional victims, they know they can get away with it and that it will serve them in some way to always claim to be the victim of something. Without any proof or any sort of credible evidence, they know the accusation is enough just because they are female. This is disgusting behavior and should be condemned universally.
This is the type of behavior #gamergate seeks to stop. We are pushing back at the infection because we will not have it taint our culture any more. Gamers respect skill, and these women have none, they only have deceit and propaganda to get where they are, not legitimate skill, no gamer respects that.
On the subject of game Journalism, it used to be that they were the ultimate gamers. They got to play and had the privilege to review games. I looked up to the Editors of EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) as gods when I was a kid. They were one of us only they had the amazing job of getting paid to be a gamer.
Now... Gaming press are not one of us. Only very few would I even call gamers. Now they are the privileged few that look down on us from ivory towers and spit on us from on high. They make back alley deals with developers and even go so far as literally sucking dick for good scores.
We are not the filthy peasants they want to believe we are. Indeed if it wasn't for us none of them would have a nice comfy job, in a nice comfy office, with a nice comfy latte while an intern gives them a five knuckle shuffle.
We built you and we can destroy you, never forget that.
#gamergate, join the fight today
