reasons why my ghoulies have their individual (and they're all complete, nyehehe.) kakujas and the what the fuck do they look like, let's fuckin GO.
ren: his kakuja's appearance resembles a long, spindly figure (every single limb of his is elongated, including the neck.) wrapped in thick bandages with seemingly no end and no beginning. think, maybe, of the "black ghosts" from ajin-- he's about twice his height whilst in kakuja form and is in full control of both himself and his kagune while maintaining it. acquired from eating any ghoul he decided was "too annoying" or just because he was hungry; there wasn't really any desire within him to become stronger (why do that when you already are?) or anything of the sort. moreover, he eats ghouls as something of a powerplay, which could butt heads with the aforementioned idea but, y'know-- semantics smemantics. whilst in kakuja, additionally, he can sprout several spiderlike-legs out from his back that increases his speed and power exponentially. his voice, too, retains its usual nasally tone but has a tendency to drag on and on, like a tape recorder that's been fed a bad tape or a vhs tape that's been rewound way too many times it's start to go "wrong". he's an honest to god nightmare to deal with, truth be told.
yori: think of dark souls knights. ok. now, think of the dark souls knights that are, like, fifty feet taller than the player character. that's generally the gist of yori's kakuja's appearance; it's a full-plate of armor, allowing for him to withstand a, laughably so, shit ton of damage before, finally, falling. i wanna say that the armor itself isn't necessarily bulky nor does it look bulky-- more-so, it's somewhat formfitting and comes with its very own shield! and cape. because capes are cool. yori, while being a very loud and vocal hater of ghoul meat (it tastes foul! bleck!), decided to commit to the bit and develop a kakuja for one reason: to be able to protect his little prince, nori. this kakuja is focused on being defensive rather than being on the offense, but that isn't to say yori isn't capable of tearing shit up. because, god willing, he most certainly will if nori is threatened because, guess what, it also comes with a sword! how fun! retaining his sanity, yori's voice is mostly normal whilst in this form, but it has the tendency to... yell. he can get quite loud on seemingly random syllables for seemingly no reason.
jun: his kakuja is... strange in the sense that it might seem atypical to a lot-- it looks the most to a "wolf", but it's definitely taken heavy inspiration from the "big bad wolf" of little red riding hood fame-- or, well, in this case would it be infamy? who knows! in terms of size and overall appearance, jun's kakuja is... massive. that isn't to say it can dwarf buildings but, well, it can come close to it. that's why he's usually hunchbacking it when in kakuja mode. appearance-wise, it's a werewolf sort of thing (think of a mix of vicar amelia and cleric beast of bloodborne!) that is incredibly strong but, maybe, not as fast as he'd prefer. this is a kakuja that's focused purely on power rather than speed. a mere swing of the arm would be more than enough, in most scenarios, for him to incapacitate several investigators at once. or ghouls, if that's more your flavor. its story of acquiring is somewhat odd, as his family line caused him (and aimi.) to favor ghoul meat than to outright be disgusted by it. over time, he just developed one due to his dietary needs. he doesn't really talk while in this form. he communicates like a wild animal. don't let that fool you, though-- he's just as sane as everyone else on this list!
chiyo: this one is fun. mostly because it's chiyo's imagination running rampant and exposing the various predators she's come into contact with's "kinks"-- this kakuja is an overindulgence. its silhouette is meant to represent the "jessica rabbit"; itty-bitty waist with a big chest and ass, also known as "the perfect body type" to those that have no clue what an actual woman looks like. while jessica rabbit, as a character, represented that "appearances aren't everything" in a more... y'know "kind" way, chiyo's kakuja represents this idea in a very violent and downright on the nose way. out of the shadows, her face is concealed and replaced with a lamprey's mouth (ballerina from cabin in the woods vibes.) while the remainder of her body is covered, head to toe, with thick tendrils of "flesh". her arms and hands? big, meaty claws. her legs and feet? thin and very petite. her hair, as well, is kakuja-fied, morphed into actual tendrils that she can control at will in order to stab at anyone and thing at will. they're as sharp as knives and are more than capable of breaking through another ghoul's kagune and, potentially, kakuja if she tries hard enough. she gains her kakuja as means of wanting to protect her wife and her nephews, wondering if there'll be a day she'll ever get a chance of killing her sister's killer and giving him a taste of his own medicine. she fakes being insane for the sheer comedy but is, in fact, in full control of herself.
masao: just a fucked up looking oni kinda guy! instead of the one faces, he's got four faces-- all split up into their own, little heads facing left, straight, back, and, you guessed it, right. they're all functional and can talk at will, too, though the "straight" facing face is the dominant one. each face also has its very own set of long, protruding fangs from both the top and bottom of his gums, similar to that of a sabretooth tiger but worse. he also has two extra pairs of arms, both of which are grotesquely muscular that look, almost, like he could use them to propel himself forward like a gorilla or something-- wait, actually? yes. yes, he can in fact do that. this is a kakuja that's focused, once again, mostly on power and not at all in speed. what it lacks in speed, however, is its defensive capabilities; it's able of withstanding severe "damage" from an investigator's (and ghoul, while we're at it.) onslaught and shaking it off like a little bee sting. his kakuja enables him to be fully sentient (as expected.) but his voice retains a sort of "fakeness" to it, now. it sounds like it's in a perpetual "tunnel throat", even when speaking normally. many find this really weird and, perhaps, a bit disconcerting, especially when he laughs whilst kakuja-fied.

lil infodump (containing both canon and headcanon as reference aka my source? i made it up.) to chit-chat about my muses in regards to their individual aliases, and the why andor how they've acquired them-- for fun! also so i don't forget when i start writing all of this up formally on their abouts.
naki / wailing ghoul: nothing too deep-- more or less, whenever naki kills, he has quite the tendency to... y'know, wail. he's incredibly vocal in anything that involves actual, physical effort and he puts his whole ass into it every single time. if you hear a very particular type of "wailing" (some have likened it to a fictional demonic noise, somewhat stock-sounding yet comes straight from the throat that increases in volume as it reaches its peak.) in the distance, chances are you'll happen upon one of naki's latest victims or, at the very least, signs of an attack that look more like a rabid animal just went to fuckin' town.
mirumo / croque monsieur: ngl i'm still not quite sure about this one! mirumo doesn't really strike me, thus far, as the type of ghoul person to leave behind a trace of his kills nor does he really... seem the sort to go out and kill unless absolutely necessary-- at least in modern times. it's mostly his pseudonym for when he partakes in the various auctions, and i think he just took it because it was french (yeah...), somewhat nonsensical, and can't be linked back to him under normal circumstances. but, nonetheless, its literal translation ("mister crunch".) might've caught on in the investigator world early on due to some murder scenes left with bones with blatant teeth marks, almost like someone (or something.) had tried to bite through them andor has tried to "suck them dry".
karren / rose: a more "recent" development in karren's character, primarily because of her tendency to either leave behind at the crime scene (some suspect it's due to a want for attention andor to establish a modus operandi of sorts.) an already withering rose or how whenever she arrives to a scene, there's always a strong (it's quite pungent, actually.) scent of roses -- although a few would attest that it's artificial and not what actual roses smell like -- that follows behind. if you were to happen upon one of her kills without time given to let it "marinate", you might be able to "smell the roses", too.
akihiro / freshman: this is a nickname that's suuuuper recent, adopted more-so in ghoul and investigator circles alike post akihiro's "death". there's nothing too involved in its creation besides the obvious: akihiro is a newbie to the ghoul world and, as such, is regarded as one. it's partly done in irony, too, considering his age. so far, all of his kills are ones are complete and utter brutality yet, at the same time, retain a strange sense of... sterility (the blood is relatively contained to just one room, for example. the rest of the house is completely clean, not even a few specks of blood to imply where the attacker might've gone.) about them. it reminds some investigators of their "college years", fumbling around in their first years unsure of what to do and where to start and yet? trying to make do and working to do their absolute best.
renji / raven: his mask is the dominating factor in this name, "given" to him by, primarily, investigators that failed in capturing, subduing, and decapacitating him. his attacks, however, also contribute to this-- the bodies resemble carcasses that were picked apart by vultures and similar scavenger animals. there's no consistency to spot in-between each kill; for example, one body's arm will be completely cleaned straight down to the bone while another body's arms might go untouched save for a few chunks missing. what's worth to note, in addition, is that a majority (if not all of them. that's still up for debate in some circles.) of the attacks seem to have been caused by another ghoul first with "raven" scavenging on the remains after wards-- as such, some believe this is why the "kills" are never consistent.
ren / glasgow: ren's "modus operandi" revolves around jamming his thumbs into his victim's (human or ghoul, it doesn't matter.) mouth and pulling as hard and as far back as he can, breaking the skin and leaving behind a literal glasgow smile that nearly "chops" the head itself in half. investigators have started referring to these attacks (left without any other trace, including the body. to this day, there's little information of where the remains have gone.) as another of "glasgow", due to the head being the only remnant of the ghoul attack. moreover, it appears that these attacks are more personal to the ninth ward than not, implying that glasgow's hunting grounds are the ninth ward and only the ninth ward.
yuu / slasher: pretty much what it says (and implies!) on the tin-- whenever yuu has participated in an attack (mostly on ghouls, because they're more interesting prey for him.) regardless of its actual successes, the scene is always left behind in absolute disarray. many of those that have stumbled upon the aftermath regard it as "something you'd only ever see in a horror movie". it's rare to see a spot untouched by blood, gore, and viscera than the opposite, and there's never any sign of a potential survivor left behind to tell the tale. additionally, yuu loves knives... so, obviously, he also loves cutting people up. if you set foot into one of yuu's "hits", chances are you'll most likely trip over a body suffering several -- the highest count thus far has been, at least, fifty -- stab wounds.
yori / spotlight: almost all of yori's victims have been displaced from their original locations and placed beneath the shining light overhead of a streetlamp or similar. there have been times where a body's been discovered in a nearby theater (abandoned or not, it doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things.) rigged to shine a spotlight -- originating the title -- on the corpse. whenever a body is spotted, investigators always take mental note of how it's always "meant" (doesn't mean it always happens, but it's more commonplace.) to be happened upon sometime in the night rather than the day. the bodies, for the most part, are left intact save for a limb ripped clean off. at first, this is only reserved for humans but, over time, ghoul corpses have been observed as well-- usually missing their eyeballs and, in addition, their tongues as well.
jun / crybaby: jun prefers killing as quickly and painlessly as possible-- he considers the act of killing an "irredeemable sin" and, as such, ends it as fast as he can start it. whenever "crybaby" attacks (and it's very sporadic. crybaby is, perhaps, one of the rarest ghouls within the ccg database; hardly any information is available on him besides what was spared from one ryosuke and a few other investigators.), it's a guarantee that evidence -- no matter its amount nor level of importance -- will be left behind. this, too, will always be in the form of a letter, handwritten and detailing the killer's so-called "remorse" behind his actions (it has been gleamed to be male based on him calling himself a "worthless man of god" in one of these letters.) and a handful of what's to be presumed as tearstains spread throughout. sometimes this smudges the ink, other times it does not. over time, the killings of humans have decreased and have been, primarily, growing more and more focused on crybaby's fellow ghouls.
katsuro / patches: honestly, this one isn't too deep, either! it's mostly due to him wearing an eyepatch and his having a prosthetic leg-- it's more-so a term of endearment given to him by the rest of the ccg. it just sort of... stuck, and katsuro never bothered to try and change it nor fight against it. he's also always been spotted getting "patched up" within the infirmary due to his reckless and gung-ho behavior when facing off against ghouls. his ex-coworkers took note of how he's almost always seen with bandages somewhere on his body than not, hence him now choosing the wear the title, "patches" as a badge of pride.
chiyo / widower: chiyo hates men. ... well, like 99% of men. "widower" has been observed in brief glimpses and fleeting encounters that never last more than a few seconds. leaving behind the naked bodies of men (both ghouls and human alike. chiyo hates all equally.) with their genitalia practically nonexistent, appearing to have either been torn off or smashed to literal bits, their faces are left intact to preserve their identity. it's the rest of their bodies that retain the most damage, always looking like it was done by an animal of sorts but with a strange sort of... precision. each and every chunk removed, slash carved, extremity removed... it gives off the idea that it was done with purpose. investigators have done some digging into widower's victims and have discovered that a majority of them have been accused of some sort of assault against others, with quite a handful of them having been confirmed as such. over time, widower has started leaving behind the bodies of others, too, that have been confirmed for assault against the innocent though men appear to be her preferred target.
masao / ogre: donning a mask referencing the traditional, japanese oni, any investigator that has stumbled upon the crime scene always remarks of how absolutely fucked it is. bodies are torn apart, limb from limb, and there's always a chance for meatballs that you will trip over a stray long intestine somewhere on the way. not much information has been gathered, except for the fact that masao (he's known only as "ogre" in the database but there's been some debate on whether or not he should be distinguished, specifically, as a specific ogre from folklore for sake of ease.) is infamously known as a "spree killer". when he does strike, it's always a mass number of bodies left behind in his wake before he goes back into hiding; it's unclear on why he does this. some have also claimed to have heard the clapping of thunder playing in tune with his steps.
ryosuke / chainsmoker: a top-rated investigator and quinx, ryosuke's one major flaw (besides his overall, horrible personality.) is his inability to just... stop... fucking... smoking. he's one of those people that you will know exactly when he's in the room, because the smell of cigarette smoke is powerful. being stuck in a closed off room with him has yielded quite some "suffocating" results, if you catch my drift. his coworkers have watched him go through, at least, one pack of cigarettes per day-- though, it does depend on his mood. the less angry (it's not a matter of how happy he is.) he is, the more likely that pack will survive and not wind up squashed in a trash can. as such! he's garnered the name "chainsmoker", while on the job, and it just kinda stuck due to the smell of his particular brand of cigarettes (parliament, to be exact.) being seen as an "omen" for right before he arrives to the scene.
lenn / catfish: primarily preferring to be used as "bait" for the various ghoul auctions, lenn's been established as an expert catfish. his alias is super literal in that regard; he'll always create another identity (one that is hard to trace back but is possible to do so, considering his false identity is always one that belonged to one of his previous "victims".) for himself and present as an entirely different person to complete illusion. it's only when he's successfully tricked them into taking part in the next, big auction that they realize they've been had. this process can last for only a few days to upwards of a handful of months. investigators coined this term for him due to noticing a string of consistencies (meeting up with a man that goes by many names but never the same one as before.) in regards to his prey.
sung woo / best friend: this one's a weird one, because it initially started as a phrase, more-so, of "everybody's best friend" but gradually became more and more simplified as his attacks increased. sung woo's namesake as "best friend" originates from his tendency to leave behind -- of all things, honestly... -- stickers proclaiming the corpse's status as a "best friend". these can range from cheap and simple stickers (a smiley face, "friends for life!", "besties 4ever!", so on and so forth...) suspected to have been purchased from a dollar store to stickers of a more, hm, "luxurious" budget. these would be puffy stickers, holographic stickers, glittery stickers, etcetera. sung woo's victims are usually mostly intact, save for the entire top half of their head missing leaving only their mouth that's been twisted into a wide, almost painful grin of sheer elation. occasionally, there will be a limb or two missing. they're usually left in either provocative or goofy (sometimes both at the same time!) positions, as well.

basic relationships chart (or something something...) with a double feature including kitty's children--
so! for the canons--
naki married dating shuu and they are so happily in love it's genuinely sickening; rough dynamic with karren because she doesn't trust his crybaby ass and he picks his nose in front of her to get under her skin. thinks of junichi as a cool older brother
mirumo the proud papa of shuu and adoptive father, of sorts, to karren; single but unsure if ready to mingle. i'm personally open to it but i'm unclear on if it actually suits mirumo's character considering his undying love for his wife. a true wife guy for the ages! he knows of lenn and thinks of him as strange. he distrusts the ikari family
karren is not in love with shuu-- mistook her feelings of adoration and idolization as genuine romantic love. she loves shuu but not in that way because i think it's a little weird considering the circumstances ♡ anyone that is an enemy of master shuu or the tsukiyama family are enemies, no ifs ands or buts
akihiro "dating" donato (no one knows what's going on with these two old men but at least they're having fun? question mark?) and, contrary to popular belief, is alive! why? who knows! i'll think of something. one-eyed ghoulification mayhaps.
renji dating watching over uta, more or less a wandering sort that does odd jobs on the side. he's probably staying with uta somewhere and is constantly having to keep him in check but also joins in on hijinks more than he cares to admit sometimes he's just too darn tired
cool! and now for the original characters--
ren, "head" of the ikari family-- slaughtered his ex-wife, yumiko, in cold blood and fed her remains to his two sons, nori and takeshi. don't worry, he also cleaned his plate. it was satisfactory. currently married (in his heart of hearts, awww omg!) to junichi. his ward loves him because it's borderline a cult. everyone else hates him though because they're sane. it's a whole thing.
yuu "dating" furuta, frenemies (enemies mostly.) with takeshi. they're sorta kinda rivals and all of their fights end in gorefest tie single time. was part of the ccg but leaves after faking his death, primarily because he thinks the ccg are a bunch of pussies and he wants to kill ghouls as he pleases. he also eats ghouls.
yori, professional clown at your service! dating nori and wants to marry him some day. rough relationship with ren because of a violent run-in, ren nearly kills and cannibalizes him. he and renji are kind of friends, mostly because of his ties to the clowns and renji's proximity to uta.
jun, head of the miyamoto family, has been a widow for several years. he and his teenaged daughter, aimi, live alone in their well-kept mansion. his wife, airi, was murdered by ryosuke and her kakuhou made into his very own quinque. he doesn't have a lot of relationships, considering his shut-in status. he's the closest thing to a pacifist ghoul you're gonna get and simply does not fuck around and find out.
katsuro is dating takeshi and has been defected from the ccg for quite some time. he leaves as a rank 1 but, currently, could be considered an associate special class or higher nowadays. he's turned more and more into a ghoul sympathizer as the days go on, mostly because of takeshi. lost his eye in the past due to a run-in with "glasgow", aka ren. also has a prosthetic right leg born from the same incident. slightly terrified of junichi.
chiyo is yumiko's sister and is married to asuka-- they're the rich lesbian aunts everyone wants but only takeshi and nori get. hates ren's guts, tolerates junichi's presence. she's well-known in the human world as a dj, known formally as b@rracuda and frequents the night club scene both as ghoul and "human" as a regular
masao is part of the washuu clan, born into it under the designated title of "seed" but ultimately defects because of it. he's an on and off ally of goat. hates every other washuu and associate, furuta especially. has a bit of a soft spot for rize, sees her somewhat as a sister. otherwise, he's known as a brutal and aggressive ghoul known as "ogre" that is infamous for his mass killings after long lulls of silence
ryosuke is a quinx, unsure of the generation (and i canNOT bother to care right now.) currently, and is a special class investigator. killed jun's wife and claimed "her" as his quinque. he "jokes" about his frame also being her but c'mon. that's too much ghoul. regularly conflicts with jun. jun killed his own husband as revenge, quoted as, "now, be as lonely as i am." and bit off one of his ears too. has a prosthetic ear now as replacement. would kill a child if they were a ghoul, has killed a ghoul child, and will continue to do so. aimi, you're next.
lenn is a clown that works at a ghoul restaurant. he doesn't really come into contact with the rest of the clowns unless necessary due to being a bit of a "homebody" at the restaurant. he's regularly paired up with furuta, however, and they've become besties. he likes playing bait for potential victims, hence his name "catfish", and loves seeing their faces when they see him auctioning them off like cattle to other ghouls. yori thinks he's fascinating, lenn thinks yori is kind of annoying.
