For those who are frustrated with the ending of Vampire Idol (me included), I found this piece by a blogger that offers some closure:

Translated by me (with slight modifications and additions in parenthesis to clarify some parts):

“The biggest suspense lies in the fact that only two of Prince’s bodyguards returned to vampire planet. This could only mean two things: Soo Hyuk was bitten to death by Boss (future Shin Dong Yup), or Woo Bin married Yoo Bi and they stayed behind on earth. Personally I find the second reason way more compelling, as it was hinted throughout the series.

(In the scene where Min Kyung and the vampires are in the basement testing out the day-counter mirror, we see that Min Kyung has many days left to live, so either she becomes a vampire later or she has always been one but didn’t know.) Min Kyung’s long life span is set up such that she can become a couple with Soo Hyuk. The scene with Prince’s (Lee Jung) last wish is not fully played out, but we can infer that he lied to Woo Hee (that he has fallen for Min Kyung) so that Prince could take Min Kyung back to vampire planet, as that would be what Soo Hyuk had wanted. Also from the way Min Kyung is dressed in the last episode, she has moved on from being a driver/manager to a singer.

Throughout the show Woo Bin has always been the one among the vampires who wanted to stay on earth. The ending also set up his proposal to Yoo Bi (in the closet), the writer must have done this for a reason, so he definitely stayed behind and married Yoo Bi.

In Shin Dong Yup’s vision (after putting on Jong Hyun’s time travel device), he sees Boss (future Shin Dong Yup turned evil) running into the basement in a crumpled white shirt looking scared. In Soo Hyuk’s vision, Boss is more poised. This could mean that Soo Hyuk has defeated Boss, and Shin Dong Yup sees him fleeing in panic.

As the series was originally penned for 120 episodes, scenes of Soo Hyuk and Min Kyung have been few and far between. That’s why in episode 78, the writer strongly hinted that Soo Hyuk has feelings for Min Kyung  (in the car wash and bus stop scenes). [Pause:  fangirl mode I’m watching bits of VI as I’m translating and omg LSH is so hot.]

In conclusion, this is what I think happened - Min Kyung returned to vampire planet with Soo Hyuk, Woo Bin married Yoo Bi, Min Ah lost her memory, Prince, Soo Hyuk, Jong Hyun and Min Kyung went back together. If the points above hold, Soo Hyuk did not die.

A conjecture - (in Jong Hyun’s farewell scene with Min Ah, he says he’ll invent an immortality potion) Jong Hyun succeeds in coming up with the elixir so he comes back for Min Ah, and Yoo Bi also gets the potion. If not successful, Woo Bin probably returns to vampire planet years later..”

My thoughts are, poor writer has to rush the ending on a very last minute notice, so she did everything humanly possible to wrap it up in TWENTY-SIX (!!) minutes. Kudos.
