Materials/Processes used in this project
For this project the materials I used to create my tower was blocks of wood that I found in my garden. I wanted to create something using materials from out of my garden inspired by Andy Goldswothy’s work. During this project I have learnt how to build my own structure and create my own drawings from it. I found it really imaginative making my tower structure because I was able to make it my own.
Problem solving
During this project I came across many problems and I think I managed to solve most of them. My main problem was finding inspiration and being motivated. With this project I had no clue where to start and what materials to use to build my tower, but to overcome this problem I done some research on other artists who create sculptures and this inspired me with my own.
Pushing my work
After creating my tower and developing with drawings I pushed my work further by independently developing my work further. I done this by using different materials and surfaces to work on. I also developed my work further by using photoshop to layer my drawing work and photos.

My Tower Sculpture
For this Tower I wanted to create a sculptor inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. To do this I went out into my garden to find natural materials and for that I used blocks of wood. For these images I put a filter on them to create a darker image. I used an app called “Lightroom” which enables you to edit your photos.
I wanted a filter that made the images darker because I wanted it to look dull and gloomy. I'm going to develop and edit these further on my laptop.

Architecture Research 2.0
Rachel Whiteread:
Rachel Whiteread’s remarkable sculptures give a good idea of how I could stack and put together objects for my sculptor. Her images have been inspiring to me especially her sculptors with the stacked blocks. In the first image it looks as if she has stacked rooms from a building together. This has inspired me to use large objects that I can find around my house to create my own sculptor work. The second image is multiple stacks of white cubes on top of each other. This reminds me of blocks of ice and icebergs. This type of method I could use in my own sculptor work.
5 words: Unique, Blocky, Stacked, Stark, Cold

Andy Goldsworthy:
Andy Goldsworthy creates extraordinary nature sculptors from natural materials found on-site, for example in the first picture he has created an egg shape sculptor using rocks. I like how creative he has been with using nature in his work and I am definitely going to look in my garden for things I could use.

Architecture Research 1.0
Brutalist architecture:
Brutalism, also known as brutalist architecture, is a style that emerged during the 1950′s and grew out of the early 20th century modernist movement. Brutalist buildings are represented by their massive, intractable and “blocky” appearance with a rigid geometric style and large-scale use of poured concrete.

Evaluation
For this project, I was given the theme “Black Book & Black Holes”. From this title I have created two mixed media boards and manipulated two little black penguin books. For the two mixed media boards I was given two constellations that I had to map out and drill holes in. For my two little black books I wanted to keep them black and white keeping in with the theme of black books and black holes.
From looking at all the artists I have researched, the three that have impacted my work the most are Ula Einsten, Lauren Dicioccio, and Niki Hare. Ula Einsten inspired me with my black book to create holes in my work and to experiment with burning whereas Lauren Dicioccio influenced my work with thread and I learnt how to use a sewing machine to create work based on her work. Lastly Niki Hare inspired me with my block prints and to experiment with overlapping and large scale work.
In this project I have used a wide variety of different techniques, materials and processes which I haven't experimented with before. I experimented with new techniques and processes like, block printing, threading/sewing machine, ink, silkscreen, blind drawings, drypoint and intaglio printing, and splatter painting. My favourite technique and processes that I learnt during this project was drypoint and intaglio printing because you were able to take ink off the plates to create lighter and darker tones. This gave each outcome a different look which I found really interesting. I also really enjoyed Derek's sessions because they were something I had never experienced before. I always found his sessions really intriguing and different because they were such fast pace sessions that made the work more fun. I definitely became more confident with going straight in with a fine liner and if I made a mistake I'd work with it.

In my offsite weeks, I would spend the beginning of my week catching up on research I had missed from the week before. I’d split my days doing practical in the morning and then do some research in the afternoon. I thought this was a good idea so then I wouldn't get bored of doing research all day. I would spend at least 6-7 hours a day doing college work. When working from home I work in a much more relaxed environment, I tend to do all my work up the table as I have a large space to work from and it's a quiet space at the back of the house so I am able to concentrate better.
If I could display my work anywhere, I would have it displayed in any science museum in the world because I was given two constellations which are part of science and I have taken my own twist on them and I think it would be interesting for people to see science and art used in the same work. I would have these constellation boards displayed on a large scale in a dark room and the boards would be glowing so you could only see them in the room. If I was to choose a song to go with this, I would pick one that is related to science so it would link with my project.
To conclude this evaluation, the pieces of artwork that have been my most successful would be manipulating my little black books because I feel like I was able to experiment with so many different mediums on each page of the books. This was also the most challenging task I was given because each page had to be different from the other. I thought this was the most successful because I liked that I was able to manipulate the book to how I wanted it to be and create my own story within this book. Another reason I also chose the little black book as my most successful was because I was able to use all of the techniques I learnt throughout the project. I decided to make two of these little black books because I wanted to try out more ways of manipulating a book. I have learnt a huge amount from this project and I have a better perception of the meaning behind black books and black holes.
