being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

last one for now! i keep coming back to this quote from One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (which, as i've said, is SEVERELY underrated): "You know, that feeling? it just captures the essence of that feeling so perfectly. whether it's a crush, or whether it's love. just let it lift you up!

merthur again :) this fandom will forever have me in a chokehold. it's like my comfort fandom. i visit for joy.

i've recced @katherynefromphilly's We Begin Again series before, but yeah. read it!! SO worth your time. this quote is from Our Destinies Our Own (the sequel to And like the cycle of the year, we begin again): "That's the way I love you. Like the earth loves its magic."

makes my earth tremble, for me specifically. couldn't decide on one mood, so made two wallpapers for this one! i feel like the first one captures that earth shattering feel, while the second one is more peaceful, closer to the way it was said in the actual fic.

i got obsessed with TFOTA again. of course i did. what a gorgeous series. thank you for your service to mankind, holly black. *background images do not belong to me + all made using canva!

there are a few wallpapers here, in the order i made them (not chronological hehe)! first one is from The Cruel Prince: "I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe."

the next one is directly related to this first one, because i thought it fabulously mirrored the change in jurdan's relationship over the course of the books. they're so gorgeous. agh beautiful writing when you can notice these things on the third reread. from The Wicked King: "I hate you. I hate you so much that sometimes I can’t think of anything else." it directly mirrors the TCP quote, but this time the passion overshadows the sorrow and hatred, so i wanted the wallpaper to reflect that change. proud of these two!

next one is from The Queen of Nothing: "By you, I am forever undone." short and devastating, this one's a classic. mostly inspired by the text bubble thing, which i did not make this time!

got through all of those, realized i was still obsessed, so next one is from The Cruel Prince again: "Have I told you how hideous you look tonight?" "No. Tell me." "I cannot."

(while we're here, read devil's finery by @scarletaire. jurdan. jude in mortal clothes. cardan, immediately at her feet. same for jude, but ofc she wouldn't admit something so damning. domestic, married. angst that hits you out of nowhere?? delicious. SO GOOD. need i say more.)

i've been working on making the wallpapers look like the way i feel when i read the quotes. i think it's working

last one is sugary sweet, from How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories: "You really are terrible, you know that? I don’t even understand why the things you say make me smile." (possibly every crush i've ever had. jeez.) it makes me happy that they've finally found their peace.

hello! i know i basically dropped off the face of the earth, but. life. :)

just read you've got the antidote for me by Kandakicksass and was absolutely destroyed, like the type of thing where i won't be able to read or enjoy anything else for a while, so thank you very much for your contributions to humanity 🙏🏽

Summary: Drarry, post-Hogwarts, soulmate au (soul bond), angst (SEVERE ANGST MANY TEARS) with a happy ending, terminal illness. Harry unknowingly rejects their soul bond before it can fully form, and Draco resigns himself to a slow and painful death.

Notes: SO many thoughts, the main one being that holy crap this is fantastic writing. this author was brave enough to reject the common fandom theory that Ron and Draco would never and could never be friends (he is actually the first to pull Draco out of his shell here). brave enough to not make Ron and Hermione soul bonded, though they are together anyway (beautiful touch). Draco is absolutely an unreliable narrator, given all of his self-loathing, which makes him so very in-character even though he is unable to really be himself (he's dying). the romance between Harry and Draco is understated and not the full focus of the fic, though it hits you like a train by the end. this fic truly understands the meaning of friendship. i cried very much, and felt very happy in the end very much. must read. (honestly i can't believe i haven't stumbled onto this before, but then i don't go looking for soulmate AUs in the HP world very often. obviously i've been mistaken.)

neither “that’s not canon” nor “fuck canon we made this all up” but a secret third thing (canon shouldn’t be taken as gospel but is useful as a reference point for building upon and recontextualizing characters and details. if you worship the source material as unchangeable then fandom in general probably isn’t for you. if you have complete disdain for the source material you would probably enjoy yourself more in a different fandom)
