Don’t be robotic with Allah when making du’a. Don’t just sit there and recite your du’a. Have a heartfelt conversation with Him. Don’t suppress your emotions, let them flow. Talk to Him. Tell Him how you feel, why you feel the way you feel, why you need Him to answer you. Show Him how needy you are of Him. Beg Him. Cry to Him.

How to Stay Motivated
1. Find a reason to hang onto your motivation. It could be exam, financial, career or personal success. That is, there was a reason why you wanted to go for this goal.
2. Try and make it fun. Anything that’s boring is really hard to do – so find a way to make the task a bit more fun.
3. Try experimenting with a different approach. Doing things the way “we’re taught”, or in the most efficient way, may not be interesting or motivating.
4. Track your progress. If you feel you’re going nowhere, then you’ll lose your motivation. So, try and chart your progress so you see how much learned.
5. Reward yourself. This is one of the best ways to keep your motivation. Reward yourself for working – and for any progress made.

I should try this
How to memorise?
Repeat the amount that you wish to memorise x20, and the best time for this is after Fajr.
After `Asr or Maghrib, repeat what you memorised at Fajr again x20.
The next day before you move onto your new amount, revise what you learnt the day before x20.
Then recite what you have memorised from the beginning of the particular text until you reach your current lesson.
After that, begin your new lesson of memorisation in the same manner.
Repeat this method daily, until you complete the text and your memorisation becomes strong.
This is the course of action one should undertake for every text, along with maintaining review of memorisation, reading and studying books, attending the lessons of scholars, and asking questions pertaining to the issues of knowledge.
The way to make memorisation firm and established is repetition, and there is no memorisation without repetition. This is the way of those firm in knowledge.
Abū Ishāq ash-Shīrāzi would repeat what he wanted to memorise x100. Al-Kayā al-Harrāsi would repeat x70.

Amazing question

“My father never valued my mother. She did everything for him. She worked all day, then she came home to cook dinner. My father just came home to sleep. She’d bring him his food on a tray. Everything had to be perfect: right colors, right napkins, everything. But he’d still call her names. He’d get drunk and yell at her for nothing. My mother was submissive and accepted it all. She’d even get mad at me if I tried to intervene. Eventually my father had an affair with our neighbor. And two years ago he left our home to be with her. Recently I spoke to him on the phone. He sounded depressed. He’d just broken up with the woman. He told me that he’d given her everything, but she still left him. He’d cooked for her, he’d treated her well, and he’d bought her whatever she wanted. But nothing was enough. I asked him if he realized what life was teaching him. He had no answer.” (Bogotá, Colombia)

As Salamu Alaikum! I started this new page as an initiative to seek knowledge during this holy month. I will be creating a post on a certain topic in Islam during each Day of Ramadan. This way one can learn something new as each day passes and we become more knowledgable about our religion. For knowledge seekers and for those who have knowledge to share, please don't be afraid to submit a post! Ramadan Kareem :)
