Day 4 - Florence
I woke up and Sophie wasn't at the apartment. I texted her and she was in a laundromat cleaning the sheets and a towel she was sick on. She was very hungover. We didn't leave the apartment until about half 11 or 12.
We went to see the cathedral in the centre of Florence. It was absolutely humongous and filled with tourists but incredible to see.
We stopped off for a small pizza which we thought would help Sophie's hangover. We went inside and sat down and Sophie got really hot and we ended up luckily getting a seat outside. We ordered two little pizzas and they were really nice.
We went back to the apartment and had a little sleep. Woke up after the nap, feeling like we could've had more sleep and headed out to a rooftop bar Sophie had booked.
The bar had an amazing view of the Duomo and we sat up there for around 2 and a half hours, watching the sun set. There was an Asian man who looked like he was either 14 or 45, nothing in-between. He got a beer so I guess it was the latter. We moved seats to get closer to the edge and see more of the view. When we went and paid they got how much we owed them wrong. First of all they tried to just get us to pay for two beers but Sophie's British politeness came through and she corrected them. We still ended up paying nearly 30 euros less than we should've.
We stopped off at one of the little wine windows and grabbed a wine and a mojito. The little wine windows are very cool but I don't really understand the historic reason why they exist.
We then went and got dinner in a little fancy place. We got a bottle of white to share and had bruratta to start, which was good. I had stew for my main and Sophie had risotto. Mine was lovely and in colder months would tasted even better. We finished with a cheesecake and tiramisu. The cheesecake was the best cheesecake I've ever tasted. I think it was the basque style of burnt cheesecake but it was incredible. Sophie got dessert envy because her tiramisu was good but not as good as the cheesecake.

Day 3 - Travel and Florence
We checked out and went for a little walk around the top of Montecatini before getting a taxi to the train station. A bunch of Italian school teenagers were on our train as well but we managed to get a seat pretty easy with out luggage. We arrived at Florence and walked to the Airbnb which was about 20 minutes walk away. We arrived at about half 1 so the sun was beating down.
We made it to the little apartment and freshened up. We were really near to the Ponte Vecchio which is the bridge with loads of fancy jewelry shops on it.
We walked and got some food at a fancy looking bakery nearby. I had a salami pizza slice and arranicie ball (spelling?) and Sophie had a margarita pizza slice and a potato crocette. We were starving after traveling for most of the morning and early afternoon so we pretty much chose the first place but it was really good.
We explored a little bit and ended up drinking a little wine in a small little shop. Some tourists came and took photos of the shop because it looked nice inside and we were sitting outside. So we are guaranteed to be in some Asian tourists photos which is fun.
We went back to the Airbnb and got changed before heading out and stopped at a wine bar nearby. We ummed and arred about getting food but decided to get some. There was this American couple sat in front of us talking to another couple that they had met at the wine bar. The American couple had trapped the other people into a conversation, or at least that's what we thought. "Do you play much soccer nowadays" was one of the questions asked. Boring. We got food. I got a carbonara which I was nervous about because they can be too cheesy for me but it was incredible. The bacon/pork fat was lovely. Sophie had a caprese salad which was full of rocket which she doesn't like.
We went from there up to the high point of the city called Piazzale Michelangelo. We took some beers and a bottle of red. It was a steep hill to get there and we got gelato on the way. I was exhausted on the way up but Sophie seemed to be fine and even said that it wasn't too bad. I explained that it was because my breathing had got out of wack because of the ice-cream. Breathe in, lick, breathe out, lick etc but I don't know if that was the true case.
We took a few photos and sat on the seats and watched the sunset. We struggled to get the red open but I asked someone and they helped out. There was a guy playing guitar solos of songs which was nice but he only played for around 45 minutes. While we were there we seen some Asian couple get engaged and another Asian couple come into the centre of the steps of people and get photos.
It was a lovely place to sit and look at all of Florence with a load of people doing the same thing.
We were wondering what to do after as I was a few beers down and Sophie was half a wine down plus more. We went to an Irish bar because it said it had karaoke on but when we got there we couldn't hear any sounds of it. We sat outside in the nice plaza square and had a drink. I needed a wee so went in and that's when I seen the karaoke. It was around 8 people, mostly American singing bohemian rhapsody. We went down and listened for a bit and chooe a song to sing together. More Americans came down and I guess they were under 21 as they seemed very nervous/excited to drink.
We sang Britney spears hit me baby one more time. If there's ever an awkward experience I'd rather go all in than try and skirt the line. I stood on the top of a table straddling an American man. It made me and Sophie laugh which is all that matters but I hope they had fun as well. They left almost immediately after.
We came back to the room and that was the day.
Except it wasn't. I closed my eyes to fall asleep and I heard a guggle and then Sophie made some horrible noises. Sophie threw up all on the bed and on her dress. I got her into the toilet to keep going but the sick was on the 2 bedsheets and down to the mattress. I cleaned up a bit of sick by Sophie's side of the bed and went back to sleep.
I could hear more growls and guggles from Sophie so I told her to go to the toilet. She threw up on the seat and a bit on the floor.
I cleaned up the bathroom and took all the sheets off the bed. Too much gross sick that I had sobered up.

Day 2
We spent the first part of the day by the pool. The sun was beating down and it was nice to just relax with the view. We got in the pool and it was freezing. Walked and swam around it in and got out. We saw lots of little lizards roaming around by the pool and by the garden. We seen one grabbing little bugs and thrashing them around.
We took the funicular down to the lower part of the town. Sat next to some Americans who weren't impressed by the funicular. They said they expected a train or a cable car. A funicular is a funicular.
The lower part of the town wasn't as nice as the top. We seemed to have gone at a strange time as nothing was open and no one was really about. We got some gelato and a drink and sat down and waited for things to open up.
We decided to go for a walk and if we found a decent place we'd go in and then head up. We found a place and got a wine each and they gave us a bowl of crisps, which seems to be the way here, but we also got a little board of breads, meats and dips which we ate. We stayed there for 2 drinks and headed back up.
We sat outside the apartment building with some beers that we had bought from the lower town. We played some random card game called 'spit or speed' or something like that. It was a strange game that Sophie was trying to teach me. It makes us laugh a lot though.

Day 1 - Italy - Montecatini
Started the day off at 5:15am. Woke up, got shit ready and drove down to Stansted. Parked up in the mid stay car park and got the bus into the airport. There was a guy who chucked his bags onto the bus and then stepped off the bus to smoke a vape. Vapes seem to produce about 50 times the amount of smoke as a cigarette so half of the smoke wandered it's way back in. Get vapes made illegal, not because I care about their health or people's secondhand smoke but because it's just such an annoying thing to look at. Smoke a cigarette or something less embarrassing.
Got through security easy and sat in a pub for breakfast. I had a beer and Sophie had a prosecco. Early airport beers sound good in theory but trying to glug down a beer at 8am feels wrong. The pub took ages to give us our food which was stressful. Airports are a time sensitive place and we had simple food to make. The bar man that served me looked like he was on loan from a psych hospital as well which didn't fill me with confidence.
Got through and sat on plane seat. I was in the middle seat. The worst seat. Sophie was on the window seat. The supposedly best seat but I'd say the aisle seat is the best. Easy in and out. Stick a leg out into the aisle for stretches. It's just better. Next to me in the aisle seat was some fat sweaty Italian man. Greasy long hair, teeth that probably hadn't seen a toothbrush in years and yellow finger nails. At the start of the flight I could smell random instances of farts. As the flight went out I could tell that it was him, next to me, farting up a storm. And on top of that, the bo smell was increasing as the flight went on. The flight landed and I felt sick because of the sweat and farts produced by this fat fuck of a man.
We got to Pisa train station and waited for our train to Montecatini. We had one change on our journey and when we got on the new train their was an English family. The mother was the loudest woman on the train, speaking baby talk to her 1 or 2 year old. The child barely made a peep but the woman was constantly chatting and chintering in baby speak all sorts of shit. The first impression of Italy is some loud Englishwoman.
We got a taxi to our villa/apartment and it's high up in the hills. The views are incredible. We wandered into the alto part of the town, which I guess translates to "high" because it's the section of the town which is near us, up in the hills. We had a beer and wine. Sophie's wine was full of weird sediment but it got changed to new one easy. I thought changing the wine would be our first fight with an Italian but it was fine.
We went back to the apartment and I had a sleep. I woke up and we went back and sat down for food. We had foccatia for starters and I had thick spaghetti with Bolognese sauce. A safe first meal in Italy. The foccatia had roasted vegetables on it and it had no right to be as tasty as it was.
We listened to a man play guitar and tried to guess which songs were coming next as it was the typical cover songs that he was playing but we didn't get too many right.
Walked back to the apartment with the lights of the town down below shining and went to bed. Day 1 finished.

Internship continued
The internship is still going well. New people have came and old people are going. It's strange to think that I'll be one of the main stays of this internship. There's another intern here from Milton Keynes. He's a bit odd and awkward but he's okay. He's socially weird. Ive still got the British label on me, not that I mind. There is a new Ukrainian girl which acts similar to the new UK guy. Very timid girl and a bit awkward. She seems okay though. The work is still good. Ive been doing vlogs which is fun but very strange to do. Looking into a camera and talking is such an unnatural thing to do but whatever. This UK guy is meant to help me out but I highly doubt he is. He doesn't really help out much so far. Things are a bit strange with the bosses. Today I wasn't allowed to go to a restaurant for lunch cause I went to the reception to have a shower rather than wait for the showers to be free. The reception is 5 minutes away and 4 people at a time could be using them at once. So it kinda makes sense to do so. But whatever. This blog is more of a reminder for me when I look back I can remember little things. I wanna try and make it funny but it's difficult. I don't think anyone is reading this apart from me but if you are, sorry. Maybe I'll write better and more.

This is the team I'm with for my internship. These people are really incredible and have made the internship fun and exciting. The management here are as useless as a chocolate teapot but these guys are the reason that 6 months abroad doesn't fill me with the same dread it used to. Thinking about coming home is a scary idea, strangely, considering how much I hated the idea when I first left. I tend to think of the Green Day song 'welcome to paradise'. It's lyrics seem fitting. I'm at 9oclock. I'm the only English person. Everyone else speak amazing English and writes good as well. I get people work to proof read but most of the time they don't need it. Above me is Dani. Dani has gone away from the internship cause he didn't like the work he was given. I've said things about Dani on another blog post but I'll say he was a good guy who ate loads of tuna. Above Dani is Ivan. I have no idea how to pronounce his name. Everytime I try something different it's still wrong. Eeevan? Eye-van? Eh-vun? No idea. Ivan is really funny though. The broken english makes him much funnier as well. On one of the first days, we went to a tribute gig to the Red Hot Chili Peppers nearby. While we were there, Ivan walked up to some girls and pointed at me as if he was auctioning off cattle or something. Lana is next to him. She's a real girly girl but not in an offensive way. She's really outgoing and a fun seaker if that makes sense. She's in romania at another bb house but she'll come back soon. Her and Ivan are having a 'thing' I think but who knows. Alice is next to her. Alice was only new in this picture bit now she's pretty cemented in the group. Alice always introduces herself the same way. She'll say 'hi I'm Alice, or Alisha, or ally or whatever you want'. Every single time. We meet a lot of new people on this internship so imagine how many times we've all heard that phrase. She's super giddy and excitable as well. Some people find her annoying but she's harmless. Alex is next and she's with Lana in romania at the minute. She was from Belarus and loved English things like Dr who, Harry Potter and the band muse. She was alright, but she had a, sort of, nervous energy to her. She could dance really well after a few drinks though. Safah is below her and she's from India, believe it or not. Safah can tell a 2 minute story in about 4 hours. She loves to talk about herself. That being said, she is super cool and always up for drinks. She seems like she takes a lot of things personally which can be annoying to deal with and she loves to create gossip where there isn't any. She's made 3 imaginary couples out of all the other interns. Strange. Dorota has left a day or two ago now. Dorota was strange. She could talk bullshit for the whole day and then she would talk about how shy and introverted she is. Very bizarre. Also, she has a boyfriend which she brings up at any chance she gets. It's got to a point where people laugh when her boyfriend is brought up. It's unreal. She was also a fair bit older than the rest of us. I think she was 29 but she acted about 92. She was okay, I didn't really get on with her and she didn't really get on with me. Pau is next and he's from Barcelona. He's doing drawings of the houses for builders and stuff to us. He does things on Photoshop as well. Pau isn't technically an intern of the same place as the rest are but he is so laid back and nothing bothers him that he fits in well. There's more of us but they weren't here for this photo. I don't know why I'm writing this. Maybe I'll read this in a few years and get nostalgic.

Klagenfurt
Okay, so turns out I'm not going to klagenfurt. I got told it's not necessary for me to go. Feel a bit shitty about it because I think it's because of they weren't happy with what happened in salzburg. But I dunno, they tell us nothing. I went out to a local bar last night but I had to drive so it was a bit shit. Marie and dorota both cab drive and are much older than I am but they won't drive the van because it's too big. They didn't drink alcohol but wouldn't drive. Man the fuck up. I'm 24, 5ft5 and can drive a giant 9 seater. It's just a car. I felt kinda bad for Alice when we were there. She gets a lot of comments about her age and it annoys me so she must get annoyed. She said to me that she's only 2 years younger than most other people so there's no reason that she should get the baby comments. I kinda agree. She acts giddy and excitable but I don't think that's cause she's young. Thats just who she is. I was the same person at 18 as I am now. Also, Alice has confided in me about other people, Safah has confided in me, Ivan has convinced in me. What the fuck? Am I a trustworthy guy? Jesus. People go to klagenfurt on Monday. It feels a bit bittersweet. Cause fuck them, I'm not needed so I don't care. But fuck them, I wanted to go. Going rafting today. I'm not doing it but I'm going. I'm trying to do vlogs and it's very odd and unnatural but I haven't tried it with other people so maybe it will flow better. Peace out.

Salzburg
Well salzburg was shit. Just a standard city with no soul. How petya and Maria stayed here for one month I have no idea. First off, the camp site was so trampy and Gypsy like it was awful. Nothing going on at all. The lake was nice but nothing going on. Salzburg city was okay but just full of shops and random shit. The only thing interesting about this place is that Mozart was born here. But apparently he stated that Vienna was a better city and he loved Italy. So, even Salzburg's hero didn't stay. Our bb car broke on the first day and we got a new 9 seated as a compliment car. The car is pretty decent and gives us more room which is nice. We had to do a Livestream video of something while we were there but we couldn't get any signal or internet so we just pretended that we did a Livestreaming video and we'll upload it when we get back to bb. Back to slovenia for the weekend and then to klagenfurt. Fingers crossed its better. I feel like it will be. It has it be!

Stay over in Ljubljana - intern diary
I stayed in Ljubljana overnight last week. We went to the first bb chefs restaurant. He has some kids doing a competition which was pretty boring. We got some decent food at the end of it. We then went to Ljubljana city and walked around. I really like Ljubljana. It's a beautiful city but it's not boring. It's a city with character and a mixture of new and old. We stayed at a hostel that used to be a prison. Apparently it was meant to be torn down but people bought it and turned it into a hostel. It was a nice hotel and it didn't really look like a prison but little bits where left over like bars and huge doors. Me, Christina and Alisa (or Alice) all walked up and down the river that goes through the city. We sat down with some beers and a pizza and just talked. We walked back to the hostel and when we got there I went for a walk around where the hostel was. It was full of graffiti and smelt like weed but it was cool. It was full of weird sculptures and things that you would have to be on drugs yo appreciate. The next day we had to attend a competition that bb was a part of. We didn't win and the seminar was awful and in Slovenian so I didn't understand anything. We then went back to the bbchefs place and had beers and burgers. We got in a car with Ana and Christina in the front and me, dorota and Alisa in the back. Dorota has became a running joke secretly amoungst the intern group. She's a little bit older than the rest of us but tries to act as if she is 10 or 20 years older. She also constantly talks about her boyfriend and she proceeded to talk about him from the entire 2 hour car journey back from Ljubljana. Ana and Christina were sort of in and out of her conversation and me and Alisa just gave one word responses but still she never stopped. We got back and I walked around the camp for a bit before going to bed. Ljubljana is one of my favourite places now. If it was next to the beach it would be perfect. I'm currently in salzburg in Austria picking up some interns that have been her for a month. It's shit so far but I'll expand more later. I'm also going to klagenfurt for a week after I come back from here. Hopefully that's not shit as well. I never thought I'd stay this but I miss slovenia.

Weekend over
This weekend was a strange one. And a very drunk one. Friday was a mess, Saturday was a little bit messy and Sunday was, once again, messy.
Sunday was Danni’s last day. Danni is a boys name by the way. He’s from Hungry so he probably doesn’t realise that that's the girls way of spelling “Danny” but he’s a cool guy so i’ll let him off.
Danny is an athletic guy but a bit odd at the same time. He’s very softly spoken and it’s quite funny to see such a soft voice from a big guy. He’s also very blunt. Maybe because his difficulties with the English language means he doesn’t get subtlety. But it just makes for hilarious moments. One time, as an ice breaker, we were asked to think of 3 things a pen could be used for other than to write with. Danni didn’t really understand what was asked so had to ask Pau what he needed to do. Pau explained and Danni eventually understood. Danni looked puzzled and thought and his first answer for this question was “kill someone”.
Me and Alica, a girl from Russia, had to drop off the chef from the weekend and we had to drop off Linda, a journalist. We got rushed out of BB which was stressful and then nearly didn’t get to the airport to drop off the chef. WE dropped the Linda and her family off in Zagreb and they bought us a beer and sat down with us for an hour. I hadn’t really spoke to them that much while they were here but they were quiet nice. We then drove back.
When we got back, i pretty much instantly downed 3 beers and suddenly everyone was in party mode. We took out weekend of frustrations in the next few hours. We slid across the room, threw chairs, and just had a good time. People went home one by one until me, Alisa and Danni were left. We cleaned up and went back and no one wouldve known the state of the party that we had.
Apparently people were sleeping in each others beds that night. I don’t really know what was going on but Alisa seemed to think certain people were getting friendly with each other. I have no idea. I’m not that observant and plus i don’t really care but it would be difficult for any amount of people to spend this much time together and for no one to get romantically linked at one point.
I don’t know. Its like Big Brother in this place except without the cameras. And there is a huge amount of mad shit that goes on in that TV program when there is cameras on so imagine in the place where there is none. I guess. Like i said, i’ve not seen it but i’ve not been looking either.

Birthday Party
So, it was Peters birthday yesterday. Peter is in charge of tourism in the Bela Krajina area. At least, i think thats his job. I don’t really know. All i know is he’s a decent enough dude and can dance annoyingly good.
His birthday party was at an alternative rock underground pub and it was pretty fucking fun. As soon as we got there we were fed 4 or 5 shots. But these weren’t normal shots. It was like vodka and lemonade and then the barman would smash the bottoms of the glasses on the bar with all his force and then you had to drink it as it was foaming up. Mental.
So obviously, i got pretty wrecked. I don’t really remember much of it.
Before then, Alisa aand me had to go pick up the new BB chef from the airport. We drove to the boarder and i got turned away cause i didn’t have my passport. I have my drivers license and i thought that would’ve been okay but apparently not. So, we had to drive back tot he resort and get my passport but as we were about to leave, Alisa got a message saying that the chef had missed her plane and was flying to Ljubljana instead. I feel like something divine made me not take my passport cause then we would've drove to Zagreb for no reason.
Back to the party. We all had fun and the drinks were free which made it better. We came back about 3am and i sat out with some people and chatted in the night. It was a nice time.
In the morning we had to take the chef to our partners and buy her food to prepare. We also had to pick up Cristina, cause she stayed at someones house after the party rather than going home to BB. Expect, she didn’t stay anywhere. She just kept drinking all fucking night. Drinking with these degenerate Slovenian twats. Cristina is alright to be around 50% of the time. The other time she is just awful and she has no people skills at all. So, these 3 or 4 people are drunk and we have to pick up the person who is technically our boss while were working here. Totally embarrassing.
We then went to Tik Tak. Tik tak is a partner which makes IceCream,  which Ivan had struggled to get as partners because they kept backing in and out of their contract and he had just gotten them to sign a contract. So we leave the drunk idiots in the car and we got to take photos and do random partner/BBchef synergy shit.
Until the drunks get out of the car and wander in to TikTak. They sit at a table and are just fucking unruly. Feet on tables, shouting at random things, singing songs. Just awful people.
They come back to BB and throw a cat in the river and just sit drinking more. Cunts.
Its ten oclock now and shes just woke up from a nap and began to try and be the boss again but the intern group have no respect for her now. The BBchef is annoyed at the circumstance aswell. The chef tried to make pasta but its turned out bad so shes still cooking. What a strange fucking day.

One month.
Yesterday was my month (4weeks) at Big Berry. As time has gone on this place has gotten better. All the interns are on the same page which makes dealing with the shit a lot easier. I feel like this is a typical job environment. The management don't understand what we as workers need.
The interns went to Ljubljana without any coordinators which was a huge breath of fresh air. We walked around Lake Bled which is a beautiful place and it was made better that there were no egos fighting for the limelight which can sometimes be the case when the coordinators are involved.
We all got on a boat and had to float across to the little island in the centre of the lake. It was a really nice relaxing experience for about 4 seconds before the boats rocking and swaying made me feel like i was going to go overboard. I didn’t but still.
We went into the city. We didn’t get a good look around cause we got into the city center at around 5pm. We got some Mexican food cause we get stuck with enough Slovenian shite that i needed something different.
The food situation at the house is still an issue. For some reason they don’t really want to buy us food. It seems like its effort for them to buy whats on the shopping list and not just buy random shit.
A new girl from Russia came yesterday and she seems really excitable and giddy. It might be a good addition as we can be a touch pessimistic at times but whatever.
Its getting good. Cracks are still here and i miss home but its getting less and less each day.

16th May.
Today we had a Skype call with the girls who had left the Kolpa camp. Technical issues aside, they couldn't seem to grasp the fact that, due to the distance, they needed to ask for any information they needed. They thought that we would know what they needed somehow. Telepathically? We then got food at Andreas which was nice. I decided not to have fish after it whole last time and I felt like a small child not being about to eat their food. Also, if next time the options are fish and pork again I'm gonna scream. We then went to this traditional dance thing. Some school kids were there and it was a bit weird but it was good fun after a while! We asked about free days and Ana seemed to be annoyed with our request. She asked questions like ' what would you do?' and ' does this not count as a free day?'. She doesn't get it. We want a free day. Free from anything. One of the girls said she truly frustrated last week and felt like going home because of the work load and lack of off time so we know have an off day tomorrow. She still doesn't understand why we need one but it's a start. Going Ljubljana tomorrow and lake bled which will be nice. With just interns. Thank god.

Nearly a week on.
So 6 days has passed since i arrived at Big Berry. Things are better now. I feel better. Nothing has really change but i feel more “okay” with how things are. Sure, i’m still homesick and missing people but that doesn’t cripple me with sadness at the minute.
A girl is leaving the internship due to it not being what she expected. I understand that. She appeared to struggle with living with loads of people and was always excluding herself from the majority.
I’ve got a lot of work to do. And by work, i mean that i’ve got a lot of work to get better at photography. I’m still very much a point and shoot kind of guy. I need to mentally think of the photo before i take it and figure out how i’m going to take it rather than rely on the “auto” setting. This will come in time. I think i’ll end up taking photos and videos everyday so there is no worry about that. Hopefully i can start taking decent photos before they start questioning my ability. Its been a while since i’ve needed to be creative so now is it. Creativity with a deadline.
There are talks about moving people to a different location. A few people have been spoken to but I’ve not been spoke to about this so i assume that means i’m staying. I don’t really mind. I wouldn’t have wanted to go to one of the locations but another one of the locations was near a nice beach that appeared to have a lot going on so that would’ve been a good change from the slow paced life that is here.
Keep moving and hopefully i start to enjoy this place.

Blog of Richard turned 1 today!
1 year ago today i created this blog as a means to writing down more often to try and help with my creative writing and shit. Turns out i didn’t really do that. Maybe i’ll start back using this blog. Maybe not.
Life was strange a year ago. I was in the closing stages of a job that i disliked and going into a similar job. Turns out the job was pretty good. It was the people in the job that i disliked. Funny that. Since then i’ve been and gone from my new job and im currently in Slovenia doing a Film and Photography internship. I’m sure i’ll talk more about this.
I went to America to go to Disney Land which was sweet. An amazing place that i’ll always remember and love to go back there. Nothing mattered when i was in America apart from having fun, reliving my childhood, eating fast food and loving life. The dream would be to live that way all the time, not just for a short time.
2016 was a good year. I hope I’ll remember this year with a smile. 2017 has turned out in a similar way but has suddenly took a turn. I don't know if this turn is for the best or worst. But it’s definitely a turn in some direction.

Start of Big Berry
Okay. I haven’t done a blog for ages and i dont know if i’ll do another one but my head is racing at the minute and i just need to write. I managed to get myself an internship at Big Berry. Its a glamping spot in Slovenia which is all about local food and services and shit. Now, i was over the moon when i got this internship. 6 months in a new country, doing film and photography, and in a cool environment. Everyone was happy for me as well!
I left on the 19th April and today is 20th April and this place is letting me down. I was to assume that i would get my own room or at least, share with one other person. Nope. All the interns are in one room. Together. There is like 14 interns! What the fuck. 1 bathroom as well to share. Also, 6 months in one room with 14 people. Where is my privacy? Where is it? Hellllllo? Nope.
As of writing, there are some Slovenian men putting up bunk beds in, what i imagine, was a living room of someones house. Also, we’re in a 3 story fucking house! What the fuck is upstairs? Let me sleep upstairs in my own fucking room.
Anyway, eating and preparing meals is gonna be a chore aswell. Right now, another intern is writing up a rota about who is cooking and when. As in, which singular person is cooking for these 14 people. My title is “Film and Photography editor”, not fucking “chef”. Another intern and I tried to speak to her about maybe getting 14 people together and cooking something that they all agree on, considering different tastes, cultures, beliefs, would be nigh-impossible. We tried to say that if people just made their own food it would be better. She, rightly, stated that it would be difficult in the kitchen for everyone to try and cook at the same time but considering the alternative.
But worse than any of this. Worse that i ever would’ve thought. The feeling of missing someone. Its only been two days since i’ve been with everyone i love but i know for the next, possibly, 6 months i wont see them or speak to them is a killer. I miss the calmness that i felt. I miss the constant easy conversations. I miss not feeling like the world is on my shoulders. I miss it all. More than i ever thought i would.
I dont know if this is due to the first day and a half being a sledgehammer to what i expected or if this is it. This is how im going to feel for the forseeable future. I feel like i would leave now, but then the person i love has decided to go traveling by herself because im here, so i’d be alone if i came back. Then she goes to teach english abroad for a month then she goes to work in the Czech republic for a year. Does she feel like this when she goes away? Is this normal to feel? Probably not. The disappointment in what is here and what i expected plus my homesickness must be adding together for a big fucking emotional ball of shit.
And the Wifi is wank.

New Job
Yo.
So i’m currently working at a childrens home and it’s a bit shit. Loads of children that have a mental or emotional issue in a big house. Yeah, its not a good combo. But i’ve got a new job at a smaller house with less children. I’m happy but ideally i’d want out of this industry. Something more “media” based. But i have no idea what how to get into this shit. I live in a nowhere town where nothing goes on so theres no production based job roles and the only roles that seem decent are social media based roles but they make no money and seem stupid.
Oh well. Keep on moving.
