And if I’m being honest if John himself is able to figure out some even more hidden meaning besides the obvious references to him and he was adamant to the day he died that the song was about him I think it’s relatively safe to say that it was

GEORGE: Hello. I’d like to send a request to somebody who I used to go to school with too, and he used to play bass in the group – Paul McCartney. [uproarious laughter] And if you’re listening, Paul, at work [Paul laughs], it was great going to school with ya, and we had a nice time! And I’d like to play a nice one called, uh, ‘Love Me Do’. The connection between John and Paul was amazing. There was just so much energy between them. To be honest, there was a unique and almost divine energy between all four of them. I am sure there were many difficulties within the band creatively, but you never got a sense of that during the shoot. They were really tight with each other.
