sometimes i think about when paul was asked about this one and if it was about a marriage and he says, "a relationship, yeah" (not a marriage) and then while rambling on it turns into how GEORGE probably regrets not telling john he loved him and that he'd always planned to but time ran out. like ooookay buddy
#then i want to take him by the shoulders and shake him#like holy projection bro what are you talking about#george getting dragged into it for no reason#he can never escape them...#lennon mccartney#paul

Happy photoversary to these two shots that pretty much exactly sum up Lennon-McCartney’s relationship in 1968

i just saw a tiktok clowning on John for thinking that hey Jude was about him and like… it literally issssss
Like guys please just READ the lyrics that motherfucker is not talking about Julian!!! Like oh yeah sure the song is offering support to Julian while his parents go through a pretty nasty, public divorce but like….. that not what the lyrics are saying lmfao???
Like let’s be serious now why would her be telling his friend’s son: “[…] don't let me down // you have found her, now go and get her” and then “You're waiting for someone to perform with” And not just that he also says, IN REFERENCE TO HIMSELF “For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool // by making his world a little colder”
And if I’m being honest if John himself is able to figure out some even more hidden meaning besides the obvious references to him and he was adamant to the day he died that the song was about him I think it’s relatively safe to say that it was
“But I always heard it as a song to me. If you think about it… Yoko’s just come into the picture. He’s saying, ‘Hey, Jude – hey, John.’ I know I’m sounding like one of those fans who reads things into it, but you can hear it as a song to me. The words ‘go out and get her’ – subconsciously he was saying, Go ahead, leave me. On a conscious level, he didn’t want me to go ahead. The angel in him was saying, ‘Bless you.’ The devil in him didn’t like it at all because he didn’t want to lose his partner.”
- John Lennon, 1980
YOU GUYS ARE FALLING FOR A MCCARTNEY LIE WAKE UP WAKE UP PLEASE
#paul mccartney propaganda is alive and well#john was delusional about a lot of things#but i fear this one held some merit#even if paul didn't intend for it to turn out that way in the beginning#it def ended up shifting gears

Audio
December 24th-31st, 1964 (Hammersmith Odeon, London): While the Beatles are being interviewed for the radio by Chris Denning, John and George make a couple of dedications.
JOHN: I’ll send a message to me old pal Pete Shotton up in Liverpool. He used to go to school with me and he also played washboard for the group when we were The Quarrymen. See you around, Pete! Give me love to your wife, aye! Turrah!
GEORGE: Hello. I’d like to send a request to somebody who I used to go to school with too, and he used to play bass in the group – Paul McCartney. [uproarious laughter] And if you’re listening, Paul, at work [Paul laughs], it was great going to school with ya, and we had a nice time! And I’d like to play a nice one called, uh, ‘Love Me Do’. [laughter]

The connection between John and Paul was amazing. There was just so much energy between them. To be honest, there was a unique and almost divine energy between all four of them. I am sure there were many difficulties within the band creatively, but you never got a sense of that during the shoot. They were really tight with each other. You could tell why they were so successful. – Tim Murray, a Mad Day Out photographer

what does it say about a man when his sense of self is so entangled with another that even his self portrait becomes a fusion of their faces. if i were in paul's place i don’t think i could go on. it’s devastating. grief is such a terrible thing.
it's like, the desperate need for your identities to merge, for your names to become indistinguishable, for the boundary between two people to dissolve until there is no separate existence, only a single, shared one suspended forever.
#this always feels like a punch to the gut#their lives were so intertwined that even decades after his death paul is still subconsciously wrapped up in him#they loved each other so much#lennon mccartney
