I noticed there a huge incoherence in the first chapters of Out of Nowhere : They leave in the morning, but it's almost nightime when they arrive, despite only travelling for 3 hours or so in total....

...So yeah, let's just say the road was busy or something. Very busy, actually, since it's a small island, but hey...

Pisces Aphrodite

I've been very inspired by my boy, lately. Not sure how to explain it but it's like very annoying to not be able to represent his beauty faithfully.

I just realized that Aphrodite is the embodiment of the Mamma Mia! movies...

Like literally, he's a swedish man (ABBA) named Aphrodite (Like the fountain at the center of the hotel) living in Greece (The whole setting of the movie) and he's from 1986, Wich is like only 7 years after Donna's backstory in the second movie. Also, half of the cast is composed of trios, Wich he's infamously part of in the fandom with Death and Shura...

Preach !! I love my boy Shun, but he's got nothing on Aphrodite ... No seriously, even his name is Aphrodite, how much queerer can you get ?? He's an icon and deserves the title.

Saint Seiya : The earth of Yggdrasil

Saint Seiya Fanfic : The earth of Yggdrasil

Hey, so, Since I'm done translating OoN, I figured I might as well do my other fic, wich has only 6 chapters so far. ou cand find the Prologue on Wattpad and Ao3 ! (Links below)

This is a more serious fic focusing on an all out war between Athena and the Olympians. She along the Saints will walk across different wordsl trying to find the previously lost knights, and gathering support while the Sanctuary at risk of being destroyed any moments by the Olympians forces.

This time, I'm talking about the one and only bouncer of Sanctuary, Aldebaran ! Still in the context of his characterization Out of Nowhere, of course...

I have so, so many jokes, but they're in french

...But first of, how do I view him, in the canon ? Just like Mu, he is more of a defensive kind of warrior. They're the first line of whoever may try to cross the temples and as such, they must be like unbreakable walls. While Mu is less aggressive, and his wall of Cosmos more figurative, Aldebaran is quite literally a wall, in the physical sense.

He is broad and large, arms crossed, and the pressure from his attacks make him an actual bouncer, so to say.

These physical traits seems to repeat within Taurus' personnality. He is a strong, strudy and straightfoward man. He is not someone that looses themselves within their own complexity.

See his fight against Seiya. He needs to make sure that he and the rest are worthy of passing his house, and to confirm his own doubts regarding the state of the Pope and Sanctuary. Seiya proves himself rightful, and so he lets them. (Well, Seiya before the rest, but you get it)

In the Hades arc, it is shown that he is capable of losing his own life to try and prevent his ennemy to get trough, enforcing the rightful and sturdy image he already gave of.

Thou shall not pass...

The thing is, in Out of Nowhere, most saints have one arc, with the exception of 4 characters : Aiolia, Dohko, Aphrodite and, of course, Aldebaran.

Aiolia's couldn't start until his brother and Shura's first arc ended, so it is postponed to part 2. Dohko need the rest of his family for his and Shion, so same thing. Aphrodite's still undicided, but so far he's been either a catalyst for other's arc (like Saga's) or in a supporting role (Shaka, Shura, Deathmask...).

Poor Aldebaran, however, has more often than not been the butt of my lenghtier jokes, like his nobrow, or him being the victim of the twins bickering. How come ?

Outside of the shortcomings of my own imagination ans writing, I'd say the main reason is that as far as I'm concerned, this Aldebaran doesn't need to go trough a whole arc. When I give one to a knight, it has a few reasons : To change something about the character mindset, to have them gain something, or to advance the story.

Here's the catch ; Aldebaran, how I see him, is a well rounded character and person that does not need to change anything major about himself. He is content hit his current life, so there isn't much he could gain, and to advance the story, he'd need a good reason, wich he does not have so far.

And thus, I'm stuck. What do I do with this sweet boy ? All the other knights are neck deep into their own problems, but I'm not going to write a whole chapter about his routine either. And so, that's how he ends up becoming kind of a background character.

That is, however, what caracterizes him. He is someone that does not need to change, a kind and joyful yet in the end discreet person. One that doesn't causes problemn yet ends up absorbing patiently all the others drama.

And others feel that, too. He is the one that first hold his hand for Mu. Kanon, one of the most abrasive characters, chooses him to confide of all people. Always the rightful one, always the sturdy one you may count on.

Now, what shall I do with him in part 2 ?

Will he go trough hardships ? Adventures ? Will he meet someone, maybe ? Or see someone who's been there in a new light ? The only thing I'm sure of is that whatever happens, he needs not to change himself, for he is a good person.

Next time will be...Less flattering. (If you read OoN, you know.)

Continuing with the designs, here's Aldebaran !

The right one is after what transpires in chapter 15.

I can't bring myself to imagine this man wearing a pant, so camo shorts it is... Also I went back to flat shading because it looks more clear in my opinion and is frankly less time consuming.

The funny thing is, ever since I was young, I've always been the "drawing only cute girls" type, so working on the fanarts for my fanfic has been...A ride.

Continuing with the Out of Nowhere extra content while I'm writing the last chapter of part 1. I thought I'd make an illustration of each character look in the fic. As always, I'm starting with Mu.

(I'm using what is hopefully official setteis as references for their poses)

I don't thing Mu would wear outfit that show his silhouette, so I made him wear a wider cropped T-shirt, along with a high waisted jogging. There's no excuse for the sandals, tho. Or rather, toe. Gods I hate drawing limbs.
