I really enjoyed reading all the blogs from CD class. It was really a shame that we barely gathered in the studio this year... Year 1 is almost over and I’m always grateful for having such a warm and loving class. (we used to have a monthly birthday gathering... T-T ai)
OK if I continue writing that would be too sentimental, I’ll leave the reflection of year 1 to my blog (here btw: https://rainbowpun.wordpress.com/) after everything is settled aka end of sem 2. 
Learn more about each classmate after reading what u guys wrote. Some of u are usually more quiet and it’s rly interesting to know what you observe and feel in the lessons. 
I’m feeling quite down these days because everything is quite messed up lol I hope you all are doing fine and we’ll meet each other soon. 
btw just curious did you guys register any courses in summer sem? what are you planning to do in the coming summer? (siu 4 lemme tag somebody just to make sure there’re replies XD @gau9day @chapter0-serendipity @chanyohere )

After 9 weeks, the final presentation and the last CD 2 lesson finally came. Every group has 10 minutes to present their project. We have to make the presentation engaging and attractive to the audience during the presentation, which is our classmates👦🏻👧🏻.
For our presentation, we used a PowerPoint with images only but no words as the base. We would like to present mainly verbal. Yet, we didn’t want the words in the slides to distract people’s attention in the hope that they could focus on the visuals while listening👀. One of the highlights of the presentation is that after introducing a song called “Gloomy Sunday,” which provoked many people from committing suicide while listening to this song, we used this song as the background music for the remaining time👂🏻. We would like to provide a vibe of suicide to the listeners and echo the chosen theme.

As mentioned in the previous blog, you should already have a basic understanding of the concept of your newspaper. This time let me share with you the container we imagined for housing our newspaper. The whole idea is a hanging rope in a public area. Considering our target audience, teenagers, we took school corridors as the main venue. The newspaper will be hung on the rope, and 10 will be placed in the corridor. The rope will be removed if more people notice the so-called suicide scenes and pay attention to them by reading the content. Conversely, the more rope you can observe, we can assume that the fewer people care or pay attention to people who suicide📢. In this idea, we hoped to provide teenagers a platform to think about both intention of suicide and the drawback of suicide, raise a concern about the suicide problem🕯️.

During the whole final presentation, I was amazed by my classmates’ presentations with their extraordinary creativity and concept. The one that attracted me the most is that from Threek (Their theme is ‘folktale’ and their newspaper is about Kachi Kachi Mountain story in Hong Kong version). In their presentation, they used visual background and filter in zoom. To present the content of their newspaper, they acted like the characters in the story and interacted with us with Slido. I appreciated their consideration of the audience’s perspective, which drew my attention and made me focus and participate throughout the whole presentation.
(( I even asked them for their visual backgrounds which I like a lot during the lesson🥰🥰

I would say Communication Design 2 gave me a different experience of university lessons. Not only did I get the chance to enrich my knowledge, but I was also provided a lot of opportunities to interact with others and reflect on myself.

/04 Self Questioning
I can clearly remember why I wanna come to design school: I want to spread the spirit of happiness through design (packaging/ graphic design) 
I want to learn more about layout design and use of elements… many many.
However, in Sem 2, I am not sure what i am actually learning LOL. Some course i think it is not useful or not interested, i will escape or just escape from those assignment. I have tired to enjoy it, but more I stay with those boring assignments, I feel more frustrated and lost. What i am doing here? Am I wasting time? 
I dont expect and dont like myself to have this attitude. i think I should try everything hard and get the skills. But i cant do it this time. Just like doing a layout of a book, I do not have much sense about that. I spend hoursss to find references and samples how people design it. But more i watch, and more the tutor comments on my work, i feel more confused. What is the standard? Why my ideas are always be banned?? Tutors sometimes said “it is too much…” sometimes said “it is too simple…”.  How should I think out of the box under tutors comments?? I really do not know. I want to do it well too, but i just cannot. I know this is my limitation, but how can I solve it. If this skills is not really useful for me, may I just let it go?? The assignment deadline have passed for 2 weeks, and until now, I am still on the progress because i do not want to hand in a “Hea” work. Am I too perfectionism?
I really hate this…

Communication design 2 (lesson 9️⃣)
Today is the presentation day 😣😣😣🙈
I write a script the day before so I know what to say.
But when I start to present i start free style because I am too nervous and forget to look at the script.😔 But, my group leader told me a did a great job after the presentation. 😂 (Maybe I can be a little bit more confident to my English)
I think the presentation of the Threek is quite interesting. They used story telling method and getting feedback from the viewers in the presentation which is quite good. Although, their story is a bit cringe 😂 Their idea in printing the newspaper on the toilet roll is quite creative too. All in all, I think they did a good job.
I really learn a lot from this subject. For example, how to think and plan. These are essential skill for designer. I did not study design in secondary school so I did not know much about these things. These skills will definitely help me. My skill may not very mature but I think I can design better in the future. Therefore, I am very glad that we have this subject. Also, thank you very much Charis 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤗

This is our last class of CD2 and I don’t want it to end!! We listened to our classmates’ presentation and I really enjoyed them all. I like the whole concept of Juliett, Betty, and Pallas’ newspaper because they turned a sensitive topic into an interesting article to read with. I was embarressed to read their newspaper at first but I enjoy reading it afterwards. They included some myths about sex in the newspaper too which is a bit similar to our topic. They also wanted to change audiences’ subjective feeling through their newspaper which I think that this is a good approach. 
Besides, I also liked Ask Y’s newspaper (by Tina and Melody). Although their newspaper include a lot of words and it was quite loooooong, I really like that they added a small personality test inside it which allows readers to interact with the content. This makes the newspaper more interesting and more enjoyable to read with. 
I also wanted to talk about Taki and Katie’s newspaper. I appreciated that they have had two different feelings in two pages respectively. They used some cheerful and engertic colours in the first page but used grey tone in the second page. I think they wanted to show contrast in these two pages. Not only through content, but also through visual elements and I think this is smart.
Overall, I am happy and I enjoy to have CD2 with Charis. I like how Charis turned the lessons into an interactive class instead of boring lectures. Among all the classes, I enjoyed the lesson on fieldnotes the most. It changed my perspective on jotting notes and allowed me to observe every small details in my daily life. 
CD2 is my favourite class in my university journey until now. I hope to meet Charis soon in year2 >< !!
