MEGAZINE: ISSUE ONE
The first issue of MegaZine can be found at the following link:
https://www.megazine.tv/
Overall I am really pleased with the result of this project and the course. The reason i did the MA was so I could have the opportunity to be experimental with video again, and I think I have managed to achieve that. I’m excited to continue creating MegaZine!

Designs for the MegaZine T-shirt. I’ve incorporated the jaguar into the design to keep it related to the first issue specifically. The back of the top will have the MegaZine logo in large lettering across the back.

6th video addition
Freddie Lord - Orlanza
Here is the final cut of my video addition to MegaZine, created for the musician Freddie Lord and his new song Orlanza.
It portrays the solitary perspective of a man drifting in a bleak urban dystopia. The aim was to accentuate the introspective and ethereal vocal alongside the tracks persistent sense of transit.
I’m really pleased with how the video came out, and I feel like we achieved our initial desired plan of creating a seedy, Berlin style mood. Including achieving the sleepy, sliding shot that was the whole catalyst for the videos direction.

Web Developer Disaster
This week I had to make the decision to go back to building the website myself again, after there were some issues with the web developer who was helping me. After realising I would have to do it on my own, I went back to square one and just had a play on the web builder Wix. I managed to put together the home page in minutes, and decided then that I would just use this. It has meant that the website wont be exactly as I designed, but I will be able to release the first issue of MegaZine on schedule.

Layout experimentations with the submitted videos. The background and videos will change with each issue, meaning the whole website and colour palette will be completely different. It’s hard to decide which one to go for as it’s the first issue!
The water background is from the music video I made for MegZine and the jaguar one is linked to the very first project I did on the course, and has a lot of personal meaning. The water is a better background for the GIFs than the jag, but it has less meaning.

Cramped
Animator: Suzanne Matharan
“This is an animation about working in cubicles, slightly caricatured. It's a half full, half empty situation: either the viewer can see it as 'Yes! One is out!'; or 'Damned that makes no difference, he's already replaced.”

Mountains in the Winter Night
Dir. Diding Tian
“Mountains in the Winter Night is about mountains in that specific environment and the reflection of them in the human mind. An image of a mountain at winter night creates stillness, it’s dark, silent and cold but it has a presence. This causes me to think about the relationship I have with mountains. For me, mountains in its way symbolise states of being and the human mind, the imagery of them is ‘support’. As this happened to me, I believe there are some moments in everybody’s life when they reflect themselves on nature. So here comes Gleb's story.“

A Dream of Paper Flowers
Dir. Leila Jarman
An experimental sci-fi short film combining feminist poetry and puppetry.
"A Dream of Paper Flowers is a soundscape steeped in allegory, a capsule of femmy horror, unnerving and captivating. A glimpse into the raw, jagged coals of the female psyche."
