The ancient Polo city in Vijaynagar holds within itself such mysterious yet timeless sagas that are no less than heritage for today's generation. Built around the river Harnav, Polo city is believed to have been established in the 10th century by the Parihar kings of Idar, and was then conquered in the 15th century by the Rathod Rajputs of Marwar. Folklore has it that the royals used to come here to hide from their enemies, subjects and angry wives. Interesting! Talk about geometry or sculpted images of gods and goddesses, Polo forest is photographers' paradise and archaeologists' delight in every way. This dense forest is a quick getaway (just 150 kms from Ahmedabad) and is a must-visit destination during monsoon.
