Alex didn’t realize how much she liked jogging. Like, really liked jogging. Her wok schedule had gotten busy, so her evening jogs slowly turned into evening naps, or sitting in front of the tv: binge-watching whatever was good on Netflix and eating McDonald’s. And one morning, Alex woke up late and had to run to work. She didn’t realize how out of shape she was until she got to the MAC Cosmetics store door, and felt like she was about to pass out. She was huffing and puffing like a wolf just to catch her breath.
So now, Alexandra decided to get back into shape. She decided her evening jogs would be beneficial because she could see the city while doing so. You don’t get to see the city if you’re just doing pushups. And of course, Alex’s favorite thing when she would jog through a city was bumping into pedestrians. She didn’t mean to bump into this person and was doing a slightly good job at avoiding hitting anybody else. But not this time, when she decided that looking at a dog was more important than looking in front of her. She immediately felt guilty, her cheeks a light red to show her embarrassment. “I’m so sorry! I-I wasn’t watching where I was going. Did I hurt you? Did I drop anything?”

rkwon:
Really? He blinks, narrows his eyes once her words have finally sunk in. Did she think he was born yesterday? Apparently so, if the shake in her voice is anything to go by. He distinctly heard her singing, no matter how quiet she believed she was being, and she definitely heard his words— Did she perhaps want to hear them again for some sort of self satisfaction? When did he become so distrusting? You grew up like this, he reminds himself, sighing outwardly as he looks forward over the city before him. “I said you have a pretty voice.” He repeats, as evenly as he possibly can.
Should I introduce myself? It hadn’t seemed as if she wanted to talk. Was it embarrassment? Being caught isn’t always the most pleasant experience; he can understand that much, at least. A few times, Won has been stumbled upon dancing in the darkened, cold studio in the late evening, or out in the fresh air in the early afternoon on days off from school. It’s a little awkward, but maybe that’s all him, refusing to admit he’s here because he has nowhere else to go. Still, his dancing talent isn’t what makes him falter, and her voice shouldn’t be what causes her own stutter either. “I’m Won. Jeon Won. What’s your name?”
Alexandra was convinced that nobody heard her, that she was too quiet, or maybe even too bad, to be heard. But this one person did, and she immediately thought that she was louder than she thought. She didn’t really know how loud, or quiet, she was being because she was so engrossed into the song that she was singing. The girl now wish that she had sung softer, or not at all. But she hid that feeling by flashing a small smile. “Oh, um, thank you. I didn’t think that I could be heard, but....” she had no idea where she was going with that. “Your comment means a lot.”
Maybe it sounded too self-conceided that she had said that. It was so weird, having somebody compliment her singing, mainly because it was in public. If she had sung to them, or sent somebody an audio file of her singing, it might’ve been a little bit different. It was embarassing. Maybe a little bit uncomfortable and awkward. It would just take time for Alex to get used to moments like this,  if she accidentally sings in public again. “I’m Alexandra Reid, or just Alex, if--if thats what you prefer.”

@rkalexandrareid !!
street performances aren’t exactly rare in seoul. the heart of the music industry and by far the easiest place to get scouted on the streets, the city is always endlessly buzzing with smooth vocals and unbelievably talent. sadly, it didn’t matter how many people took to the open streets to show off their skills, there are always thousands more that are equally as talented, yet too shy to let it be known. those are the kids who hum to their headphones on the bus, not realising that everyone around them can hear. they’re the under-the-breath rappers in the street, and the customers in stores who bust a move when the next song starts on the radio.
today, it’s the first. almost, at least. he’s too far away to know what she’s singing or how well, but he’s curious. she’s walking a few metres away, and if won had remembered his headphones, he’d be the one singing unaware as he wanders towards the store. it’s honestly a little odd for him to be on the receiving end. is this what he looks like to others? it’s kind of endearing, in it’s own way. curiosity gets the better of him (as it often does), and he inches closer, until he can hear the quiet rise and fall of her voice, and smiles. “you have a pretty voice.”
Alexandra loved Seoul for many reasons, and the talent that thrived inside of the town was one of them. Every day there was somebody new on the street, singing a popular, or even an unpopular, song, or dancing to music, or playing an instrument. There were rappers, and mimes, and artists. There would be street plays that Alex would be willing to pay for. She was in awe of these performers, who had the guts and confidence to show their talent to the world, and know how to deal with people who didn’t like their talent. Alex couldn’t even order her food over the phone without worrying that they were judging her.
Alexandra had gone to see the performances again after work, just to give her something to do. Mose of the time, she’d pass by on the way home, but she was always rushing. Today, she planned to take her time and enjoy the music. Unfortunately, she enjoyed some of the music too much. There was one performer that was singing her favourite song, and it was playing in her head over and over again, so much so that she started singing it under her breath. Of course, nobody heard her because nobody said something--until a male with a deep voice spoke her. Alex stopped in her tracks and looked at him. “S-Sorry?” She asked nervously. “I, um, didn’t hear you. I was...in deep thought.” Liar.

rkohsehun:
Sehun wasn’t exactly an artsy person, but he does have his rare moments of wanting to check out just how many shades of color the art store had acquired from the last time he had visited. That, plus there’s that one man who makes art just by the window of the shop, probably to attract people into the establishment and he may or may have had a portrait of him from before (and he thinks he does look a lot more handsome in that portrait).
For a person who could whip up a badass stick man during art class, things like this are as fascinating as visiting a different world.
A question thrown at him out of nowhere catches him off guard, though. He’s a little confused as he blinked dumbly at the stranger, said question taking a full second before it fully sinks in (and because the English caught him by surprise). “I… yeah, sure,” he replies with a friendly smile, his words spoken in English. He turns a little so he could see her better. “What can I do for you?

Alex felt lucky, and relieved, that the person she had gotten the attention of spoke English. Otherwise, she would’ve had an, even more, struggle of trying to ask somebody to help her on how to ask for another thing. She gave a small smile in return and cleared her throat. “Well, I need to um...buy something for a friend for her birthday,” she started. “And that easel over there is probably the best and cheapest one that I could find,” she explained and trailed off. She felt almost embarrassed. for living in Korea for four years and not knowing how to say easel. She’d walk into art gallaries on her free time, she should know how to say easel. “I just um...don’t know how to say easel in Korean, and the woman selling it doesn’t speak English. Do you think you can help me?”

i just wanna buy an easel | sehun & alex
@rkohsehun
Alex wasn’t a painter, but a friend back in America was. And she owed her a birthday present, and the easel that caught her eye was not only big but was probably the sturdiest. The ones she had seen, before this one, looked old and looked as if setting a canvas on it would’ve made it collapse. The saleswoman kept looking at Alex, but Alex had one problem. She had no idea how to say easel in Korean. With her luck, on a day like this, she would have trouble. It seemed like such a good day, up until this point. Alex cleared her throat and looked around, hoping the nearest person would help her. The closest person was a guy, and she silently hoped that he wouldn’t get mad at her for taking him out of his own time. “Excuse me?” She said nervously. “Can you help me?”

four year wait | dahye & alex
@dahyexrk
Alexandra woke up with more than just happiness as her leading emotion. There was a mix of anxiety. She met Dahye years ago, on the internet. The two had gotten along so well, and once Alex came to Korea, she was sure that they’d be hanging out every single day. But unfortunately, the two girls have a life outside of their friendship. Alex had work almost every day, and if she had the day of, Dahye was too busy. There were even instances where somebody was too sick or injured, and meeting up just wasn’t a possibility. Eventually, the two girls had stopped trying to meet up. But not meeting up for four years was a little weird.
So today was the day they were going to meet up. They agreed to meet a park, and probably go to the mall or a cafe if they wanted. And Alex was more than excited. She considered Dahye like one of her best friends, even like a sister that she never had. Her excitement was more than clear, as she brushed her teeth with urgency, almost mix-matched her socks when she got dressed. Her walk clearly said something too, as there was a bounce in every step that showed her anxious excitement to finally meet Dahye.

it’s just make-up | sungyeol & alex
@rksxngyeol
Alexandra wiped her hands with the makeup remover, letting out a small sigh. Today was a busy day, which was odd. Usually, the busy days were around weekends. But, she wouldn’t complain. The more the customers, the more money she got. Mainly from the tips. A few more customers walked in, and Alex silently hoped that they were only going to buy makeup and not get their makeup done. She needed to clean her station, and needed time do that, which she immediately started doing.
The whole time she was cleaning her station, she could see some people stopping to look through the window. Her first few months with this job, it bothered her, but she eventually got over it. People were going to stare at her artwork, whether she liked it or not. But there was this one person, who seemed to be there the longest, who just watched. The male wasn’t bothering her, or anybody, but Alex just found it a little odd. Usually, people watched an artist do one’s person face, and then leave. Alex decided to inspect. She washed her hands one more time before heading over to the male. “Hello,” she said softly, hoping her next few words would be pronounced correctly. “Can I help you with anything? I...I noticed you watching through the window...”
