The Hillside of Takinoue
The vibrantly colored hillside of Takinoue Park in Japan is the highlight of the spring. The flower field covers about 100,000 square meters of the hillside and draws quite the crowd every year.  The best time to see the flowers is from mid May through the beginning of June. Today, Takinoue Park is famous for its beautiful shibazakura but its history dates back to the early 1900s.  The park’s iconic flower-covered hill was created when a number of youth group volunteers planted 1000 plants. Cleft Island, also known as Skull Rock, is a granite island located off the coast of Wilsons Promontory in the state of Victoria, in Australia. It belongs to a group of three islands called the Anser Group, and is one of the most picturesque of all islands in Wilsons Promontory. The western side of the island has a gigantic cave with a grassy floor, that was probably carved by the sea when the sea levels were much higher, thousands of years ago. (Source)

The Kuril Islands are about 100 volcanoes (40 still smoking) on 56 islands, which only 7 are inhabited with no more than 20,000 souls. They belong to Russia and you need a special permission to enter each island. Independent travel to some of the beautiful deserted islands is almost impossible, unless you’ve got a boat or an helicopter. (Source)
