Confessions in The Valley Pt. 3 Sam!
Sam was my fav for a lonnngggg time. this is the last chapter pre written so after this they'll be brand new ! I'm not sure who's next but it might be Haley or Harvey since he's so popular rn. Anyway Enjoy :3
“Hey Farmer !!” Sam's cheery face called out to you, smiling from ear to ear. The blonde was waiting for you outside the bus stop in the early summer morning. Light beamed down on him through the leaves of the oak tree he sat beneath, tracing his face in a golden glow. He was sitting against the trunk, his board next to him and dirt on his blue jeans. He must've already been skating today. Sam invited you earlier this week, to spend the Saturday with him at the ZuZu city skatepark upon watching you fail miserably to ride his board. I mean like REALLY failed miserably, you didn't even make it an inch before the board slipped beneath your feet and you came clamoring down the cobble sidewalk. Lucky for you, Sam was seconds behind you catching you and keeping you from a gnarly concussion. You haven't stopped thinking about that moment all week. While doing farm work, mining, fishing, or chatting up your friends, he was all that was on your mind. His denim jacket was tied around his waist leaving his arms bare under his t-shirt. He wasn't buff by any means but he had a slim and toned physique that always managed to leave you staring anytime his skin was exposed. You Just hope he never noticed. Promptly after basically saving your life on that skateboard, he invited you to ZuZu City skatepark to teach you a thing or two.
You were on your way now, sat next to each other on the dingy bus seats as you stared out the window and the valley faded behind you. It was a beautiful day and you haven't been to the city in so long. To be honest, you were just really looking forward to spending such a large chunk of the day with Sam. The wheels of the bus clunked against the dirt then slowly turned to rolling smoothly as nearing the city led you to a much newer road.
“Sooo are you excited, Farmer?” His voice broke the silence previously sitting over you two as he turned to face you. “ I mean you used to live here didn't you? I bet it'll be cool to be back” He smiled softly, pink dusting his cheeks.
“Oh yea !” you returned excitedly. “ I'm stoked, as much as I hated living and working in the city, seeing all the places i love will be really nice.'' The light from the window cast a shadow against your face as you turned away from it, opting to look Sam in the eye instead. “I should go back some day when I have more time and explore”. You chuckled.
“ Hey, now that's a great idea! We can come back together another day, it'd be perfect. You get to explore the city and show me cool stuff, and I get to spend the whole day with you!” He chuckled, bumping you with his shoulder as he turned back to face the font of the bus. You couldn't help your face heating up at his words, though you tried to ignore it. The rest of the bus ride remained comfortably silent, only interrupted by the occasional squealing of birds in the sky. White seagulls flying in from the coast danced across the sky which was littered with fluffy clouds. Distantly you caught a peak at some thicker gray clouds and you wondered inwardly if it might rain today.
“This your stop kiddos!” Pam called out hoarsely to the back of the bus as you pulled up to the stop nearest to the park. You both excitedly clambered out of your seats and quickly exited the bus, giving your thanks to pam. You really couldn't believe how pretty the city still was. Without the stress of your previous draining life, you really had the chance to look back and appreciate the warmth and brightness of the city. A thousand sun beams reflecting off the glass of every tall building in the center of the city. The air smelled delicious as you and Sam headed to the park, passing every restaurant and market you remember loving.
“God it really is nice here” You smiled softly, speaking under your breath.
You are literally gonna die. “Sam WHY IS THIS SO SCARY '' you yelled out to the blonde who was behind you laughing uncontrollably at your misery. Upon reaching the empty, and frankly very rundown, part of the skate park, you had been placed firmly on the board as Sam tried his best explaining to you how to get started. He gave you several demonstrations (likely just an excuse to show off but you didn't mind). Right now you were only standing, but after your last time on the board you were seriously terrified you'd fall and knock your head. It didn't help your nerves that Sam doesn't exactly do helmets. After nearly an hour of demonstrations and practicing to get your stance right you were finally ready to try moving.
“You'll be fine, farmer i promise, just push off with your foot like i showed you.” Sam yelled back to you giggling. Your feet wobbled as you struggled to keep your balance. Drawing in a deep breath your foot came down to the pavement ready to push off and move you forward until…Sam's arms came around you, halting your movement. Your eyes widened and jaw fell open as his hands held tight against your hips. You completely froze, his grip was so tight.
“ Hold on there dude, if you push off with your foot like that you're totally gonna fall.” He was smiling brightly. He bent down, squatting on his knees and grabbed your leg, adjusting your stance. “There, keep your foot like that, higher up on the board, see?” He looked up at you confirming you knew what to do now, but you could only turn away sheepishly and nod your head. “S-sorry..” He stood up quickly giving you space. Was he blushing? “Ok you got it, c’mon you can do it just push off now.” He smiled at you, throwing up two cheery thumbs ups. The way his eyes closed and cheeks puffed up when he smiled at you like that was convincing enough for anyone, but especially you. Ok you can do this.
Without giving yourself any more time to panic, you pushed your foot hard into the ground and hurled your body, and likewise the board, forward and down the very subtle hill. Picking up your foot now you shimmied and settled yourself on the board as you gained some speed and rolled forward. You couldn't believe you were actually skating! The birds sang loudly in the sky above you feigning a congratulatory song for your achievement. You barreled down the stained and cracked pavement, probably not going very fast but still absolutely delighted in yourself. “SAMMY I'M DOING IT OMG!” You cheered out to him. Your wheels bumped against rocks as you neared steeper slope. You became increasingly aware of the fact you did not go over how to stop as you started barreling down a steeper hill and gaining a lot of speed. “UHH Sam I DON'T KNOW HOW TO STOP”. You started to panic, you probably weren't going as fast as it felt but you were terrified of losing balance.
“Oh shit.” Sam spoke aloud to himself before he grabbed his extra board and set off after you. Given his much higher skating ability it only took him seconds to speed up and pass you on the hill. “Don't worry, Farmer just slow down !!” He seemed way too happy given the obvious distress written all over your face
“ DON'T YOU THINK I'D STOP IF I KNEW HOW” You shouted at him, though he could hear you well at normal volume. Yours and Sam's wheels rolled on and on taking you down the hill faster and faster as adrenaline kicked into full drive. A turn was approaching and it was coming FAST . “ Sam, I can't turn or stop. What do I do?” The genuine fear in your voice seemed to flip a switch in Sam's mind as his laughter stopped and expression quickly shifted. He looked concerned but focused and he acted quickly to stop you from falling or getting hurt
“Alright just hold on, I got you.” he smiled softly hoping to assure you. In a flash, as the sky shifted to gray allowing more shade, he was slowing down and reaching out to you. His hands surged forward; one gripped your waist on the side farthest from him, and the other grabbed your arm. “Jump !” he shouted at you as he pulled you to him. You think normally you shout back at him that he's crazy, but the sloped pavement carrying you swiftly to a brick wall to the face, didn't really give you much room to argue. You jumped, leaning into him as you stumbled, trying and failing to stand on his board. You opted instead to cling onto him for dear life like a koala. The board you had been on sped up on its own and slid all the way down the hill, likely to crash into the wall. Above you, you could hear him giggling softly as he turned down the end of the slope, starting to slow down. When the decrease in speed allowed it, you shakily placed your feet on his board. His arms around you, holding you tightly. His chest moved up and down under your cheek as he continued laughing at your state of disarray. “You okay?” His voice was impossibly sweet as he looked down at you.
“Y-yeah I'm fine, thank you” you gingerly stepped off his board and released your grip for him, cringing as you regretted moving away from his warmth. “Sorry…” you muttered under your breath. As the sky darkened slightly again, he didn't let go. Why wasn't he letting go? His eyes met yours as a smile playfully curled on his face. A mischievous glint ran through his emerald eyes. Before your brain could catch up his sneakers landed right next to yours as he stepped off his board, tightening his grip on your waist and leaning in close, Breath ghosting over your face.
“Aren't you glad I caught you?” He was smirking. What a jerk teasing you like that. You smacked your hand against his chest pushing him away as you stumbled back and playfully scoffed at him. He doubled over in laughter still finding his act amusing. You couldn't help smiling back at him. “C'mon, I think that's enough for today,” he said, picking up his board and grabbing your hand while dragging you down the street. “Let's go get ice cream!” he really was like a giddy little kid as he rushed in the direction of the nearest vendor still holding your hand tightly.
Rain had started coming down in buckets. All those gray clouds you saw earlier? Yea well they moved over here on your walk to the ice cream stand. While finishing your ice cream on your walk back to the bus stop the clouds had come in, blanketing the sky in a chill overcast and drenching the city with rain. You held the boards as Sam held his jacket over your heads, shielding you from the downpour. You laughed and chattered back and forth while waiting for the last bus of the day to arrive and take you back to the valley. As you stood huddled together under the shield of a Sam’s jacket you watched the city light up as the earth darkened. Gloomy clouds and the slowly setting sun left everything dark, leaving room for all the lights of the city to shine together. You couldn't help the gleeful smile that spread over your face. You'd spent the whole day with Sam. looking at all the places you used to frequent made your heart yearn with nostalgia, and Sam's proximity made your heart flutter with…something else.
“I had a lot of fun today” you said, leaning into him slightly. “ Thank you for teaching me to skate even though I sucked.” You chuckled and placed your head against his shoulder. You really couldn't help wanting to be close to him and as you looked upwards you could swear his pupils dilated and a blush, much more intense then earlier, lay on his cheeks.
“Y-yea of course ! I'm glad you had a good time.” He was stuttering and turning away from you, seemingly just as affected by the closeness as you were. You just couldn't help it. Seeing the faint slivers of yellow light peeking through the heavy clouds down on his features. He cleared his throat trying to steel himself as if you being here made him nervous. You'd made his suddenly loud boisterous personality fall quiet and the fond look in his eyes paired with a gentle smile wasn't helping his case. Down the road Maybe a mile you could faintly see the bus coming and not really one for public affections you knew you had to hurry.
“Hey Sam?” You spoke. He all too quickly turned to you, humming in question and tilting his head like a lost puppy. His blonde damp hair fell into his face and as he went to fix it he felt your hand graze his cheek. He stilled, looking toward you. Your hand gripped his cheek and yanked him down, pulling his lips onto yours. He stood still in surprise but only took a few seconds to quickly kiss back. It was fast and fleeting but sweet nonetheless. The look on his face after was even better. He sputtered a bit trying to find words as his face bloomed beet red. "I like you a lot you know." You whispered to him still near his face staring at his lips. Wheels turning against the pavement came near leaving you to pull away from his face and grab his hand. The bus had arrived just in time as the harsh rain picked up even more. Giggling you dragged him towards the bus doors. Despite being entirely floored a bashful smile spread wide across his face following your lead out of the rain and onto the bus. The bus will Take you both home to the valley, to the peace and quiet of your homes. You definitely have a lot to talk about on the ride back but that didn't worry you even the slightest. No matter the circumstance Sam's presence would always put you at ease and despite you nervous nature you knew with certainty that he'd be there, to break your fall.

Confessions in The Valley Pt 2. (Abigail)
Heyo! still don't really know how to format but I'm getting there. This chapter is also one i pulled form my old ao3 so its not a newly written one yet. Pls Enjoy!<3
You really hadn't meant to walk in on this, truth be told you were still wondering if you could just make a quick escape.
You came to Pierre's late in the fall evening hoping you could pick up some extra seeds you'd forgotten; you needed them for an order soon. When you rounded the corner of the doctor's office building you honestly thought he'd be closed already. Your dirty farmer hands pushed open the door and you heard the delightful little jingle of the bells. Followed swiftly by shouting and slamming. No one was in the main area of the store and despite how often you would just walk into their living quarters it didn't feel appropriate right now. A man, who you assumed to be Pierre, though you had never heard him yell, was screaming at someone. Abigail, you quickly realized, was the target of this yelling and she did not hesitate to yell back. You cut the distance between you and the back door that led to their house. You really shouldn't invade their privacy like this but you were curious. Pierre threw violent shouts at Abigail followed by occasional slamming, clearly in a very heated argument.
“You're being ridiculous”
“Shut your mouth while I'm talking to you”
“You're a failure”
“You never do anything useful”
“I should kick you out and leave you homeless” Pierre's shouting seemed so out of character for his normal very cheery disposition. The words leaving his mouth, directed at his daughter nonetheless, felt so cruel. You really shouldn't be listening but a part of you wanted to hear what Abigail would say. At first she was yelling back, arguing to him about his words and that he was an idiot. However her tone shifted and then completely stopped once those words left his mouth.
“There's a reason all your friends left you behind.” That was just horrible. Pierre's words were interrupted by Caroline as she interjected in hopes to calm her husband.
“Abigail don't listen to him, he's just angry.” She spoke over him attempting to reconcile what was just said but Abigail had heard enough. You quickly backed away from the door sliding in front of the store counter as the door burst open. The hinges of the old wood creaked as the door handle slammed into the wall. Out ran Abigail, she was disheveled, clearly crying and shaking. “Abigail, wait!” Her mother called but she didn't listen. When she ran out the door she froze upon seeing you, eyes blurry with tears. You felt yourself shiver with nerves as she just stood there dumbfounded that you had overheard that exchange.
“S-sorry I-'' you stuttered out an apology trying not to make this weird but it didn't matter. She ran out the front of the store before you could even finish your thought. You swayed on the balls of your feet nervously. Her parents didn't even try to go after her. Did they even care how she felt? Anger surged through your body as you decided someone had to go after her. You knew Abigail had a strained relationship with her parents of course but how could Pierre, her own father, say something like that to her?
Your shoes clacked against the pavement as you raced out the door going to find her. Where would she be? You thought to yourself as you walked through town square. You doubt she'd go to Sam or Sebastian's house while upset like that. All her friends already thought she was kind of weird and vulnerability is hard with people who already assume the worst in you. Of course they still love and care for her but that closeness may not be something they have. Despite how cold it was in the fall night air you couldn't help the sweat forming on your brow, mostly out of worry for your friend. Your friend…you really hoped she knew how much you did care about her.
Your thoughts were cut short as you neared the graveyard and heard sniffles. Your head turned sharply toward the sound and there she was. Abigail was curled up next to one of the gravestones shaking softly. As you neared you saw the tears running down her cheeks. Poor thing. Her knees were tucked up to her chest and she rubbed her tears off on her black tights. She came here often, to the graveyard. No one really knew why and you always just figured she had an eye for the eerie sides of life. Or I guess, of death.
“..Abigail?” you tried to speak softly as you approached her, as to not startle the girl. She looked up at you and her eyes were filled with tears as mascara ran down her pale cheeks. You swear you could feel your heart shatter like glass looking at her in this state. You crouched down to her level on instinct and placed your hand on her cheek. “I'm so sorry, I- I really didn't mean to walk in on…that'' There was a long pause in your words as you stared into her eyes and cleared your throat “Are you okay?” you thumbed the tears of her cheek. without saying a word, only crying more, she leaned forward into your chest. She buried her head under your chin and gripped at your shirt. Though you were shocked you dropped to sit on your knees and pulled her in tighter.
She stayed like that for a while, letting her breathing calm down, though her tears never stopped. You stroked her hair softly and rubbed circles on her back over her denim vest. You could feel her pull in shaky breaths as she attempted to steady herself.
“My dad…he hates me” she said quietly, her warm breath touching your chest. “I feel like everyone is so disappointed in me and I just- I agree with them.” Her admission left her throat so easily but you could tell how bad it hurt her to say. She continued anyway. “I try so hard but no one else thinks I care about anything or anyone and I DO. I just don't know how to show it and- and I..” her voice shook as tears poured harder down her face. “ I just want people to like me…despite how worthless I am.”
You pulled her in tight and her eyes widened as your grip on her shoulder intensified. Her face pulls away from you as your hand grabs her cheek, forcing her teary eyes to face you. You stared her down with a stern expression and she shook in your hold. You rubbed slow circles on her cheek and stared with lidded eyes.
“ I like you,” you spoke and if eyes could speak, hers were screaming. “ and I care about you and it doesn't matter what anybody else tells you because you're wonderful as you are. '' Her hands gripped onto your jacket as she listened to the words leaving your mouth in disbelief. “I know how hard it is, to try and get things right and I KNOW how hard you try. You look out for your mom and your friends and you always try to understand other people no matter how strange their problems are. You're weird and silly and I think it makes you wonderful.” You continued biting your lip as you weighed the chances of confessing. “I know it's not easy with your parents but…you have a lot of potential and they want to help you see that. I hope I can help you see it too.”
There was a pause as her mouth hung open, surprised at your sincerity “F-farmer…I don't deserve your kindness” she whispered. She turned away from you suddenly shy “Don't say those things you don't…you don't understand how it makes me feel.” Her hand pushed on your chest as she regained the previous distance between you two. You don't know if you fully understood what she meant by saying that, but you know what you feel and this may be your chance. She sat silently crying once again. The night air blew across the valley sending a chill over Abigail as she shook in the grass. Looking down at her pale hands you could see red in the fingertips. She held herself to maintain warmth but still shook and shivered. Without hesitation you gripped the coat hanging over your shoulder, shucking it off your body. You draped the oversized clothes over her body and wrapped it tight around her. She turned to you with once again wide blue eyes shining in the starlight.
“ I like you so much Abigail, '' you whispered to her with little to no courage." I like you so much and I really want you to be happy. So…please don't tell me not to care about you.” you held her close as the world around you fizzed out, dizzied by how close she was to you. An owl sang into the night, reverberating off the trees surrounding the valley. A hue of light cast down from the stars lit Her face as Abigail turned fully to face you. Both hands clumsily gripped your jaw and pulled you down. Omg she's kissing me. Your head screamed at you to snap out of it and kiss her back. You laced your fingers through her purple hair resting against the nape of her neck as her lips pressed into yours. She was so warm despite the chill in the air. It was awkward and clumsy but you felt like your heart could explode. You both pulled back briefly to breath, staring at each other as your faces flushed, from much more than just the cold.
“I love you” She whispered against your lips as she pulled you in again. Her arms wrapped around your shoulders and you moved to grip around her back. Fully holding her you pushed her down into the soft grass neither of you pulling away in the process. Even if it were below freezing you doubt you would have noticed for even a second. You could feel your lips tingling as you tasted the Chapstick on her mouth. In the dim light of the valley, with the lampposts flickering and the river running steadily you felt a bloom in your chest. You know it won't always be easy for Abigail…but if she could stay, stay with you, you'd promise to Yoba himself to look out for her. She deserved it and you, her dearest friend, would be more than happy giving it to her.
As you lay with her in the grass you think how lucky you are that you forgot those seeds today.
OK Phew that one was a doozy i remember really struggling to write Abigail at the time but i just had a really strong idea for her. Also I'm thinking about posting a fic for Willy too even tho he's not marriable cause I'm in love with old men.

(sorry idk know how to format text posts very well)
What a long day jeez…
You'd just finished up another long day on the farm. You'd barely left the property all day. Too many fences to fix and crops to water, not to mention the amount of debris you had to clear. Damn, maybe that golden clock is worth it. You wiped the sweat from your brow as you walked down the stone path of town square. At least the sun setting has granted you some peace from the harsh summer heat. The pavement quickly turned to plush sand beneath your feet as you headed down from the mayor's front yard, your steps illuminated by the warm buzzing lamppost. Elliot makes good company on nights like these. Bright nights after tiring days and you could just sit and talk with him and Leah, or even willy, until exhaustion crashes over you like the waves surrounding the valley.
“Hey Farmer!!” Leah spots you from around the corner of Elliot's house and greets you cheerily. She's definitely drunk, holding a bottle of wine you gifted her and chuckling a little too loud. She's a dear friend of yours, you feel truly lucky to be so welcomed in this town especially by such warm faces. Leah wastes no time wrapping you in a hug dragging you to the bench where Elliot sits, staring at you both with a gentle smile.
“Evening Farmer,” Elliot gazes at you patting the open spot next to him allowing you and Leah to take a seat by his side. “Day treating you well I hope?”.
“Hey Elliot!” You beam at him scooting close with Leah at your left and Elliot on your right. Leah passes the open bottle to you, offering you a drink. “My day has been well, tiring but I managed” you chuckle taking a swig of the bitter fruit wine. Letting the alcohol warm your throat and flush your skin. It's simple to be here with them. You all laugh and catch up talking about your weeks for a couple hours. Leah's eyes light up under their drunken haze as she describes in detail her newest sculpture. Neither you nor Elliot can avoid giggling at her when she stumbles over her words, she's easily excitable especially when drunk.
“I haven't gotten much writing done this week,” Elliot interjects the smooth convo to share what's on his mind. “I don't really know why, but I feel…distracted I suppose. Normally writing is of the utmost importance in my mind. Though lately I haven't been able to think of much at all.” He stares at his feet with an embarrassed half smile. You peek at him quizzically wondering to yourself how much this has really been bothering him. Elliot takes his writing very seriously. It's like his life force and he's not easy on himself when success doesn't come to him.
Leah snakes her hand behind your back to lay on Elliot's shoulder, gently patting the silk button up covering his skin. “Aw Elliot c'mon you don't need to be so down about that,” She leans forward and exchanges a quick glance with him. You can't quite see it but in a span of two seconds they seem to have an entire conversation with their eyes. Leah looks at him slightly questioning and Elliot nods softly. “You're probably tired man, you'll get back into the swing you know that, Right Farmer?” She throws you into the conversation making you lose your focus on their silent debate of facial expressions.
“Y-yes of course, you're probably just burnt out Elliot. I mean you can't expect to have your creativity at 100 percent every day” You smile at him hoping to reassure his worries, it seems to work at least on the surface.
“Welp!” Leah stands up suddenly stretching her back and arms. “I'm headed home for the night, I have an important call tomorrow I really shouldn't be hung over for '' Leah giggles to herself at her comment before patting your head. “Take care, you two G'night ''.
“ Night Leah ” You and Elliot speak in unison as she saunters off, still cheery as ever. You hope she can get home without tripping in the dirt hehe. A silence falls over you two as you lean back with your palms on the hardwood, staring out at the sea. Bright lights decorate the blanket of night sky glaring off the ocean and casting a glow in your eyes. You can see Elliot staring at you from your peripheral. He does that a lot lately.
While you're in the library together gathering books to share with Penny and the kids, or while you're picking pomegranates from your tree for him. You'll catch him staring at you silently, though the warmth in his eyes says quite a lot. You normally don't pay it mind, thinking of it as just your wishful thinking or fantastical mind being corrupted by a beautiful set of emerald eyes. Right now however…as you gaze out at the ocean you can't help the warmth pooling in your gut as he stares at you like you're the brightest star he's ever seen.
“When you moved here, Farmer,” he breaks the silence suddenly, now fully facing you. “Were you scared? Or perhaps lonely?'' What a strange question you think as you giggle out loud leaning into his shoulder as laughter lights up your face. You couldn't help it, just such a brash question out of nowhere. “H-hey! Don't laugh jeez!” he blushes but laughs with you anyways. He doesn't embarrass easily, his pride keeps him quite sturdy.
“Sorry it just…seems like such a silly question coming from you of all people '' You look up into his eyes as you're against his shoulder. It crosses your mind that you may be too close right now but you can't bring yourself to care
“Why is that silly?’ He asks feigning offense while smiling at you
“Elliot you gave up a lot more than I did coming out here” Your hand falls into his lap as you straighten up a bit “You know better than anyone that it takes a little bravery to get to what makes you happy. So of course I was scared but I didn't really have much to lose to begin with. Coming here was my only chance to make things right so even if I was scared it couldn't be worse than where I already was.” You peer back at the ocean reflecting, like the stars, on how you felt coming here the first time. Unlike Elliot who risked his previous way of life, you really did have nothing. You barely made enough money to pay rent and certainly did not meet many friendly faces in the city.
“And as for loneliness…I was at first. I was nervous that such a small community wouldn't react well to outsiders and even still sometimes I wonder who really likes me.” You feel the air chill your skin and send shivers up your spine. Elliot takes notice and gently wraps his arm around your mid back. “But I have you don't I?” his eyes widened at your comment, only slightly. He stares down at you trying to detect the intent behind what you said. You watch his cheeks grow red and you don't think it's from the cold.
A smirk paints itself across his face, “Now look who's saying silly things.” He teases. Your face grows bright red and a wave of soberness suddenly crashes on you as you recoil from his touch, fixing your posture. He looks disappointed.
“W-well c'mon you know what I meant!” you stutter over your words as butterflies fill your tummy. Your hand still sits in his lap and he's taken hold of it now stroking the back of your hand with his thumb as he looks away. His usual composed nature, it's completely broken down right now. That slightly arrogant tone in his voice that carries his confident words and elegant speech patterns…none of that is here anymore. Instead he holds your hand tight and refuses to meet your eyes and he's blushing. A ridiculously bright shade of red. “Elliot I- what's-?”
“When i moved here,” He spoke again, squeaking out his words. “ I wasn't scared, or if I was , I didn't let myself feel it. I knew what I wanted. I wanted to turn against what everyone has pushed on me my whole life” his confidence was slowly seeping back into his words “That i needed to look for a real job, a real purpose. I should just find a wife and a good paying job and settle down. My family would constantly chastise me with that crap.” It felt unusual to hear him swear like that. You held his hand in yours tight as you watched a gloss come over his eyes as they watered.
“I couldn't ever shake the feeling that I was meant to create something. That my purpose was to have my words mean something to someone.” He peers at you again as his hair falls around his face framing his intense expression. “But lately, I've been distracted by my feelings. The more I adjust to life here, the more I wish to seek out temporary fixes for my own bitter feelings. Joys like friendship and learned skills and…love” Your eyes widen slightly shocked before lowering again in slight disappointment. Is he in love with someone? Is that why he's so bothered lately?.
“I didn't want to let myself get too close to others. For some reason I felt like if I didn't do this alone, if I didn't become successful on my own, that all my work would be undermined again. Or that other people would be a distraction from what i was meant to be doing.” His hand slides from your palm to your forearm as he turns to fully face you. You're leaned against his chest staring up at his eyes that are illuminated by the stars. He's gazing at you now and your heart throbs. What is he saying? “But my friends…and you have shown me lately that, if I were to try to do this on my own, not only would I fail, I'd sink into a lonely misery. Despair would destroy me and I'd become exactly what everyone expected of me. I know every great poet let their tragedy be the map to their creations, but my inspiration to continue. My inspiration to create and to smile and to learn… ” His unused hands take a gentle hold of your chin and his palms warm your cheek. “...Is you .”
“I've always loved the way you speak” you whisper now, leaning closer into his warm touch. Your heart sparks like a candle and the chilled air around you both blows the flame, steady and warm you remain under his gaze.
“I've always loved you.” his grip on your jaw tightens as he tugs you forward, pulling your lips onto his. He's soft and delicate. With how passionate and charismatic his words are normally, he's surprisingly demure in the way he holds onto you. Like he's scared to break you. His lips continue to move against yours and he tastes faintly of cherry wine and salt. Everything around you is brighter than the moon shining down on the valley. You reluctantly serrate looking upon his disheveled face with mirth in your eyes and a smile playing on your now, tingling lips. “I want you to be my muse, now and for as long as you'll have me” The sincerity in his confession leaves you trembling. It felt so romantic to have his words directed at you this way. Yet so raw to be sitting on the beach half drunk in the middle of the night like this.
You can't stop the giggle from leaving your mouth. You feel so relieved to know you are the fruits of his passion and desire. “I love you too, Elliot'' His smile grows exponentially and you pull him close to you again, Kissing him once more and already you feel the fondness of familiarity start to bloom. The moon shines down on the valley as a breeze blows through the trees lining the path where the town meets the coast. Distantly stars twinkle down on the sea and jellyfish glow beneath its surface. There's a soft light all around you and a brighter one burning inside you as Elliot keeps his lips against yours.
You reckon you'll stay down on the beach tonight, with Elliot, for as long as hell have you.
<3
I hope you enjoyed this ones my favorite :)
