Page 70 Case Study
Question 2: Michael’s pricing strategy could be considered on the low-end for house painting compared to the previous quote of $650. Michael should also rethink his pricing. He has hired employees and has set a flat-rate for any house regardless of size. If Michael ends up with a larger project than expected, his hours of work may become more than the $350 would cover. He will also have to pay his employees, and will have a different amount of supplies required for each house. Michael may end up not profiting from some of his projects. He should pricing houses by quoting customers. Also, if a customer sees his low price on an ad he has put out, they may make assumptions about the quality of his work if he is charging less than competitors.

Resetter! The only way to reset your electronics! Have you ever been relaxing at home scrolling through your smartphone when suddenly your WiFi disconnects? You try everything you can on your phone and decide you need to inspect the router, and the user manual suggests you reset the router. But, that reset button is so small that not a thing in your kitchen drawers can reach it. What you need is “The Resetter”! The Resetter is a small and portable tool for reaching the hard-to-press reset button on all your technology. It is a simple piece of bent metal with a sharp edge for reaching your reset button. The sharp edge is enclosed in a cover so that the Resetter can be safely put in your pocket or left in a drawer. The Resetter works on routers, modems, game systems and any simple technology with a reset button. It can also be used on your smartphone to open your SD card and SIM card slots. The small and inexpensive Resetter can be bought in bulk so that you will always have one around when you need it.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths My strengths that are useful as an entrepreneur are my interpersonal communication and ability to perform under stress. These skills have been acquired through working as a Paramedic for the past 7 years. Every work day involves communicating with patients, family members, coworkers and other agencies. Having strong communication skills is vital to ensuring patients are informed and feel comfortable. The work of a Paramedic involves a constantly changing environment with multiple stressors and it is expected to perform under that stress without making mistakes. That experience has strengthened my skills that can be transferred into the world of entrepreneurship. Weaknesses One of my biggest weaknesses that may affect my ability as an entrepreneur is falling behind on deadlines. The best way for me to work on this is actually the online courses I am taking currently. These courses involve deadlines (almost weekly) that need to be met to ensure success. I plan to make a habit of finishing these deadlines to set myself up for improvement and future success.
