Part 18 : Commoners Soup
This part made me so hungry. I know you guys have never had any of the ingredients involved, but just so you know. It’s fantastic.
When I woke it had been days. Betahl, however, didn’t seem worried. I messaged Adol and my dad telling them I was fine, but neither of them seemed to be as worried as before. I figured Betahl had answered or alerted them himself.
I got up and went to my room. I pulled my clothes on slowly to not irritate the wound. I was hungry and wanted to see where Betahl was.
On the mirror in my room was a note, "We should have a baby, we're going to." I figured it was Betahl but the handwriting was wrong. I sighed and sat the note down before leaving the room. Mednin stood outside waiting for me.
"We're going to my dads today, I don't care if the doctor or Betahl thinks it's too soon to leave, I've got a gift to give you." I walked down the hall slowly.
"Relic, miss, where are you going?" Mednin asked offering his arm to me.
I took it to steady myself. "I'm hungry and since the kitchen is on its way to The Leader I figured I would go myself," I said holding the bandage. The wound wouldn't open up again unless I was stabbed or something extremely strenuous happened, so while I wasn't concerned about it bleeding out, I was concerned about the pain.
"Miss, I would have had The Leader come to you and ran to the kitchen myself. You need to stay off your feet." Mednin had genuine concern in his voice. I realized how much kindness had improved his attitude towards other people. He was actually concerned rather then doing it because of threat.
"Mednin, it's fine, I need the walk anyway, plus interrupting his work may get you in trouble. He won't punish me unless I do something that's actually against him," I said thinking about how I would no doubt be in prison with worse wounds than the one I currently had if Betahl knew what I was doing.
We got to the kitchen in no time. A few cooks were busy preparing meals for the guards on board. Upon seeing me they all stopped and looked rather uncomfortable.
"Miss- Ma'am, uh…" the head cook started stuttering not sure what to call me.
"Relic, please call me Relic, no formality please, I am just a person like you," I said leaning on Mednin.
"Anything mi- Relic! What can we do for you?" They were nervously expecting something harsh.
"I was just hungry, I was going to fix myself something to eat," I said looking around the large kitchen.
"No mi- Relic, it's our job, we couldn't ask The Leaders future wife to cook for herself," the head cook looked panicked.
"I don't mind, I actually like cooking for myself," I laughed a little.
"Is what we've been preparing not to your standards? I promise I went to the finest cooking schools but if it's not to your liking I can make what you prefer!" The woman looked stressed beyond a healthy level, which made sense since she was in charge of preparing meals for the cruelest man on the planet.
"What you've been making is great, I just didn't want to inconvenience you, after all it's in between meals and you have to prepare for the whole ship," I smiled softly trying to relax her.
"Oh, it's no probl'm miss, e'll make ya someth'n, n't fret s what e're fir," another cook said in a rural accent.
The head cook glared over her shoulder at him, "yes, we'll make anything you want, just have a seat over there and we'll show you what the best cooks have to offer."
"Okay then, how about something easy, hepis veil please," I asked taking a seat. Mednin stood next to me watching. "Where are you from, you've got a rural accent," I asked the other cook.
"Oh, miss 'm frem Fereladere, born n raised," he said chopping up fresh vegetables. Hepis veil is a meat and vegetable soup. The hepis is meat from a grazing animal and very common for those who eat meat. The vegetables are a mix of roots and vine vegetation. It has a deep red color once it's done and is really filling.
"I've been to Fereladere, the people there are really nice," I said watching as the head cook pulled hepis meat out of the cooler.
"I culdn't wait ta get out'ta t'ere," he said taking a plate of the vegetables over to a quiet cook who hadn't even looked at me. "'m Tepie miss, nice ta meet'a," Tepie bowed a little. I smiled.
"It's nice to meet you too Tepie," I smiled. The head cook looked a little annoyed that Tepie was just talking to me as if I wasn't in a position of control over his life. I enjoyed the conversation though. As they were putting the soup on the stove the kitchen door slid opening. The head cook nearly dropped the knife she was holding as Betahl walked through the door.
"L-leader Horrorshek!" The cooks bowed not making eye contact with him.
"As you were," he muttered, then turned to me. "Relic darling, why are you out of bed? Mednin says you wish to go see your father today, are you sure you're ready for that?"
I stood and wrapped my arms around him. "Yes dear, I haven't been home to see my dad in a while and he was worried after I stopped talking to him, you know, while I was in the medical wing," I said.
"I understand I should have alerted your father to your situation, I will make sure he's told next time," Betahl said stroking my face and rubbing my tattoos.
"Thank you for that, I do plan to go to my fathers today though, I'll have Mednin to protect me though," I laughed, well aware that I was staging an attack on myself and a kidnap of my bodyguard.
"I suppose I'll let you go as long as you promise to not overwork yourself," he kissed my cheek. "Also, I moved our wedding, it'll only be a few weeks rather than months like we'd initially planned. The wedding planners have been alerted," Betahl said as he led me back to my chair. I sat but leaned against him.
I smiled at him and nodded, but something in me felt a little disappointed.
I tried to ignore it but I was speaking before I even realized it. "Is there any way I could help plan the wedding? I want to have some creative control over the colors and dress," I heard slip from my mouth.
Betahl smiled. "Well of course, I assumed you didn't want to since you didn't seem interested," he picked me up and sat down on the chair then sat me on his lap.
I was a little surprised by what I'd just said. But, I rationalized, I was trying to convince him still that I was nothing but a good fiancée, and future wife. I also convinced myself that if I was going to have a very public wedding I wanted it to be something I approved of.
"Yes, I was unsure of this arrangement, but I've come to like the idea," I said, not entirely lying. As much as I was in love with Adol, some part of me was starting to understand the ruvic behind the monster.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and watched as the kitchen staff worked as if they were walking on glass. Finally, once the soup was done, the head cook handed me a large bowl filled with it.
"Thank you," I said taking a small bite out of it. It was hot but really good. Despite their nerves they'd managed to make some of the best hepis veil I'd had in a long time.
Betahl took the bowl from me and ate some himself. He smiled.
"This is a rather humble dish, I used to eat it before I came to power. It was easy and affordable, I'm surprised you eat this," he said handing the bowl back to me. I sighed.
"I didn't grow up part of the high class society, I lived with my father's family, and while they weren't poor, they weren't rich or high class enough to attend the parties and gatherings that would have taught me what I'm supposed to be doing," I muttered.
"Well, eat up, enjoy your food, you need to get your strength back." he kissed my neck, "then, once you're better, we'll try for that baby."
I nearly dropped the bowl at the word baby.

Part 17: Nightmare Begins
Let me tell you. Living where I do now has been really good for my mental health. I get to relax I don’t have to worry about how people view me and amazingly enough I’ve really started to settle in. Hopefully things stay this great.
Prison was worse than I had expected. Being dragged away by soldiers with little hope of overpowering them was terrifying. I screamed and tried to get free but I wasn’t strong then. My cousin stood by watching as they dragged me out of the house, he was looking down on me. The next thing I knew I was stripped and searched, invasively.
I could feel tears streaming down my face as they called me by my old friends name. I’d given them fake information so my dad wasn’t alerted. I didn’t want him to ruin his new life over me. They strapped me to a chair and a general of sorts walked into the room I was in. He was short for a male and he wore all his medals in an almost obnoxious way. I figured he was compensating for the fact that he was third gender, though I never really felt brave enough to throw that in his face. For the record, third genders had to work twice as hard and often hid their identity to make high ranking official status. He was clearly here on this small ship because he was still being discriminated against, even though he was still in charge.
“You’re not very physically matured, which will save you some discomfort. However, to make up for our inability to use that against you we’ll have to go with something a little more permanently scarring,” the general said giving a wicked grin. He pulled out a knife and ran it over my naked body.
“Where are the rebels you’re working with?” he demanded lazily. He knew I didn’t have an affiliation with any of the rebel groups.
“I-I don’t know,” tears welled in my eyes but I refused to let them get any further. He plunged the knife into my side. I shot awake screaming. The heart monitor was beeping to alert the doctor that something was wrong.
Betahl wasn’t there at my side this time, and honestly it was probably better that way.
“Miss Relic are you alright? What’s wrong?” The doctor, a small third gender asked coming to my side.
“I… I just had a nightmare, I’m fine, thank you,” I said breathing deeply to calm down. I touched where the knife had left a huge scar. I would have another massive scar on my stomach. I didn’t want to look but I was naked. The bandage over my wound though saved me from seeing what would no doubt be a massive ugly scar.
“I was looking at previous scar tissue miss, whoever you saw before was very crude, I don’t know how they were given a medical degree,” they chatted eying the scars I gained in prison.
“I was fourteen, just started college, and was a robotics major, I didn’t have nor do not have a medical degree but I think I did pretty good,” I defended. The doctor blushed a little.
“I meant no offense, I just figured someone with your financial background, you could afford the very best doctors.” I wasn’t really bothered by their judgement. I kept myself alive while given no real direction on how to do what I did and only with basic tools.
“I was in prison on a small prison ship. They made me work for my life, they would stab me, cut me, beat me, and give me basic tools to fix the wounds. I had to fix myself if I wanted to live. I’m still here, which is impressive if you knew what they did to me.” I got up slowly causing the doctor to fret.
“I’m so sorry miss, I didn’t know Horrorshek was taking someone with your background. I thought… because of your family name and finances that you weren’t touched by the cruelty… I mean justice the government hands out.” The doctor tried to get me to sit back down but I stood and started moving towards the door.
“Thank you for fixing my wound, I can take it from here though doc, I’m going back to my bed though. I’ll come check in though so we can watch the brain scans. I wouldn’t want those radiation spots to get worse.” I walked out the door. Mednin stood watching as I walked slowly. He pulled his jacket off and gave it to me.
“You should cover up Relic, the Leader wouldn’t like you walking past the cadets quarters without clothes.” Mednin wrapped it around me and buttoned it. I held my bandage and walked slowly down the hall.
Cadets stared but upon eye contact they instantly looked down and bowed a little. Once we were back to the hall where Betahl and I slept I stopped and leaned on the wall tired.
“Mednin, we’re going to visit my dad once I’m a little better, I’ve got a gift for you,” I said. I messaged Ghost asking him for safe passage for Mednin to a place where he would be happy.
He called me. “Relic! You disappeared. Are you okay? Was he stopping you from talking to us?” Ghost was frantic. I chuckled.
“No, I had an accident and spent a bit in the medical wing. I sort of impaled myself.” I laughed about it now that I was up and moving. Ghost, however, didn’t find it funny.
“Are you serious? You’re okay right? Your dad, me, no one knew what happened! You were impaled and none of us were alerted. This is unacceptable.” He was fuming.
“I have no excuse for not being able to tell you besides the fact that I wasn’t conscious and you know, kind of dying. I’m sorry. I’m fine now just tired. Can you get what I need?” I asked trying to be vague incase someone else was listening.
“I can but I don’t want it here, I won’t jeopardize everything for something that might hurt all the work I’ve done,” Adol was equally as vague but I understood.
“My father then, is there a way we could have the pick up be at dads til you know it’s safe?” I asked looking at Mednin who was looking around.
“I suppose I could help from that point, however, I still think this is risky. They are all the same.” I looked at Mednin with a bit of distrust but the fear in his eyes and the longing to see his family made me believe, with some therapy, he would be free.
“Just… can you do this for me? This one is different.” I knew I was asking him to do a lot. Adol could walk into a trap which is why I wasn’t telling Mednin the plan until it was time to follow through.
“Fine. I will.” Adol huffed.
“Thank you, I have to go though, I think I need to lay down, or at least put on my own clothes.” I muttered taking in the clear scent of Mednin’s jacket.
Adol growled. “Why are you not laying down? Who’s clothes are you wearing?” I could hear the jealousy in his voice but I pretended not to notice.
“My attending guard let me use his jacket so I had something to walk back to my room in,” I said. “Now, Adol, can I please go? I will message you.”
He huffed again. “Fine, you better message your dad too. Bye.” The call ended.
I opened the door to Betahl’s room expecting it to be empty but behind the metal sliding door was Betahl sitting on the bed clearly stressed.
“Relic darling, the doctor called and said you got up and left the medical wing without getting dressed or getting officially released. You needed more rest.” Betahl pulled Mednin’s jacket off me and wrapped me in a blanket. He threw the jacket back to Mednin.
“I’m fine, Mednin took care of my nakedness and I wanted to sleep in our bed,” something in me felt that genuinely. It was like a part of me was starting to really believe the lie I was telling him.
He smiled and picked me up gently and put me down in bed.
“You’re so stubborn,” he muttered burying his face in my neck.
I thought I went to sleep. I remember sleeping, dreaming, however my body had other things in mind. Well she had something else in mind.
She kissed him. She ran her hands over him. She begged him to move the wedding up. At this time though, I didn’t even know she existed.

Part 16 : Wake Up
I have been so busy. I’ll post a couple parts today.
I woke up, which in itself felt like a small miracle. I was laying in the medical wing of the ship on a bed that was completely separated from the main wing. I looked around and noticed Betahl next to me working on some paperwork.
“Bet-” I started but my throat was dry.
“Hush Relic, you’ll be okay, don’t talk though,” he put the papers down and sat on the side of the bed. “I’ll get you something to drink though.”
He grabbed a bottle of water and held it to my mouth. I sipped the water glad for the relief.
“Relic, what happened? Why did you have something radioactive? You know, it doesn’t matter why what matters is that you could have died. The doctors said you were lucky to not have any permanent damage to your organs. You’ll have another scar but you can still conceive and you’re not going to suffer any major organ defects.” Betahl squeezed my hand. I smiled softly for a moment before my mind went over what he’d just said. Conceiving. That meant I would be carrying his heir. He would force my child to be like him. I wanted to cry and silently wished the container had killed me.
“Radiation poisoning?” I asked using as few words as possible.
“Your quick action with the decontamination and chem shower saved you from the majority. They said there was some weird flares in your brain but they believe it’s not permanent and will go away with time,” Betahl answered. I sighed with relief having feared the wound would expose me to a fatal amount.
“That’s good,” I muttered starting to feel drowsy again.
“Stop talking darling. Just go to sleep, after a few more hours you’ll be okay enough to come to bed with me. Then you’re going to tell me about the radioactive container I had to take to the lab,” he chuckled.
My eyes closed as I nodded and the world went black.

Part 15: Radioactive
I remember this day. I still have the scar from it. This one event though was the catalyst. It was the beginning of the end of the war.
The wedding was coming and I was frustrated. I knew I would have to marry him but he wasn’t listening to me at all. I chased him down the hall in one of his shirts.
“Betahl!” I shouted. He looked back at me.
“Why are you dressed like that so near the prison wing of the ship. The things locked in there are animals and don’t deserve to see you like this,” he said pulling me close. I smiled.
“Betahl, I want to sit in on the meetings with you today. I didn’t plan to dress like this but you left so quickly I couldn’t get dressed,” I said leaning against his chest.
He seemed to think about it, “okay, sure. You can come sit in with me. I’ve got a meeting here soon so go get dressed and I’ll have Mednin show you to the right room.”
“Great!” I kissed him on the cheek. If I wasn’t able to change him I was going to be the mole in his operation.
He leaned down, “now go get dressed before I take you, I was trying to wait until after the wedding.”
I blushed. He wasn’t usually lewd and while he looked at me he never touched me anywhere indecent.
I ran back down the hall towards my room, deciding my usual grey cargo pants and tank top would suffice. I pulled on my clothes and shoes then brushed my hair back into a messy ponytail.
I turned when the container behind me started to beep. I started to panic. The material inside was stolen from the university lab and highly volatile. I’d only taken a small sample to work with a new power source but apparently the container I used was only good for a day or so. I looked around for something to put it in.
“Shit, shit, shit…” I muttered. The beeping started to get louder and faster and before I could even move away from it the container exploded.
The loud pop alerted Mednin that something went wrong.
“Relic?!” He shouted. I remembered the energy source.
“Mednin, don’t open the door, whatever you do, don’t open it.” I started looking for something to contain the leftover material. Finally, I found a container in my wardrobe and put what was left inside. I hit the decontaminate button and let it go to work cleaning the air. I knew I needed a chemical shower myself but would have to tell Mednin what happened.
“Mednin, I’m going to the chem shower, I…” I looked down to pull off my shirt only to see a large shard of the container sticking out of me. I started to panic but knew Mednin would come in and risk his health for mine.
“I’ll be out soon,” I said walking into the chem shower. I cut off my clothes and did my best to not move the shard while I showered. It was a quick shower, they always were, however with the blood and pain coming from my stomach it felt like an eternity.
Once the two minute shower was up I stepped back out into my room, only to fall.
“M-Mednin…” I shouted before passing out.

Part 14 : The Calm
Well, visiting has been fun but it seems I’m not meant to have a nice date. I just want to feel good about my choice and yet here I am unable to have one lousy date.
If that’s how the universe wants to play it. Fine. I’ll go home where there are no ruvic to ruin my evening.
The bubble shop was busy, like always since it was right by campus. Students going in and out trying to get the juice they needed to make it through their next class. I walked up to the counter and eyed the sweets that were out on floating plates.
“Mednin, what do you want?” I asked staring at the hollan cake. They were my favorite, spongy sweets and they went really nice with guuta bubble.
“I’ll have the flavy crisps and nectum juice,” he says quietly. The barista looked nervously at him as she typed in his order.
“I’ll also take the hollan cake and guuta bubble, it’s all together, of course,” I said confidently. She seemed almost pleasantly surprised.
“I’ll get that right out to you both,” she sent the order off to the ruvic behind her who started making it as I ran my watch over the pay pad and typed in my passcode.
We moved down to the end of the counter and waited for our things when Ra and Adol came in. They both eyed Mednin nervously before going to the counter to place their orders as well.
“Relic!” the barista called my name when our things were done. I handed Mednin his things and he ran off to guard from a distance while I found a three chaired table for me, my secret boyfriend, and my new friend.
They joined me at the table once they were called. Adol looked nervously at Mednin, who was out of hearing range in the loud bubble shop but even still.
“Relic, glad to see you again!” Ra said smiling at me. She’d contacted me after saving me from the attack at that party to make sure I was okay after I’d been taken.
“Nice to see you again in person, Ra,” I grabbed her hand and squeezed. Adol hugged me but knew that Mednin was watching so went no further than that.
“How’s life with him?” Ra asked sitting down and sipping her drink. I looked down at the bubbly green drink in front of me and sipped it.
“It’s been,” I paused and looked at Adol, “okay. He’s been nothing but a gentleman, hasn’t asked anything of me besides that I stay safe and be his wife.”
Adol grimaced, “but he’s still forcing you to be with him.”
I sighed knowing Adol wasn’t up for this at all, “he is, but at least he’s not treating me badly. I don’t have to like him, he’s the Leader and I have no real rights, he could just as easily lock me up in prison.”
Adol nodded and muttered, “yeah, but at least then we could just break in and set you free.”
“Let’s talk about something else then,” Ra took a bite out of her crisp.
I nodded, “so, Adol, how’s work been?”
He looked stressed and sleep deprived, “constant, I haven’t had a decent day off in a long time.”
I knew even if he was given the chance he would just use a day off to work on his plans for the Resistance, or spend the whole day practice fighting.
“Adol, as a doctor you should know it’s not good for you to stress yourself out like that,” I scolded. He smiled at me.
“As a doctor I know a lot of things aren’t good for me, does that stop me from doing it? No, and you can’t tell me what to do,” he challenged.
“I can’t tell you what to do, but I worry about you and I want you to take care of yourself,” I looked at Ra who was busy biting away at the black snack food in front of her.
“Well, since my job was attacked and became a crime scene I’ve just been relaxing, luckily I’ve been getting my regular wages, so I’m not complaining,” Ra commented.
“That’s awesome,” I said taking a sip of my drink. She smiled. I could feel Ghost looking at me and blushed. I saw him smile softly. He was such a good man.
A message pulled me away from the happy moment though. Betahl said there was an attack near the university and that I was to return instantly. Mednin, probably receiving a similar message moved towards me.
“Well guys, looks like I’ll have to cut our outing short. An attack nearby has ruined my afternoon and he’s demanding I return to his side,” I sighed and hugged Ra. She squeezed then let go. I then went to Adol and hugged him tightly then kissed him on the cheek and pulled away before Mednin noticed.
“Relic, I’ve been ordered to take you back,” Mednin said sternly. I nodded and followed him looking back at my boyfriend and new best friend.
“Bye guys, see you later!” I said as I walked out the door. People stared as Mednin led me. They all knew who I was now and many didn’t like me for it.

Zora, you know, my dad’s caretaker. She made this weird cake, says she learned how to make it on a diplomatic trip to Earth.
Caramel??? Pie. I hope I’m spelling that correctly. Anyway. It’s really sweet and a good thing to have on a visit to my dads. Now for a dip in the hot spring.

Part 13 : A Little Break
I think I’m coming to terms with what has happened. I wish it wasn’t this way though. I do enjoy my new home though. It has helped me relax and come to terms with my life.
When I got on my backup watch, I saw both my dad and Ghost had been messaging me non-stop. They were worried and hoping I was just hiding out, using it as an excuse to escape. I told them I was fine, that Betahl had my guard save me. They had mixed feelings.
They were glad I was safe and alive, but Betahl’s name soured anything for them. I was beginning to think he cared a little.
“Relic dear, I’ll be in meetings all day, I would love to stay with you but I can’t win a war from bed,” Betahl whispered in my ear. It twitched as his warm breath filled it. He buried his face in my neck and kissed it gently, sending shivers down my spine. “Tell your father I said hi,” he smiled against my skin.
“Can I go out with my friends today? I will take Mednin so long as he stays back, I am so bored while you’re busy all day,” I kissed his cheek. I was getting good at this. Getting good at being the wife he wanted.
“What friends?” He asked concerned. I knew he would want to control who I was around because of who I was to him but I knew I would be safe.
“A doctor friend I met, Adol Eshteh, and Ra Mekdun,” I knew offering up their names could alarm him, but instead he seemed to relax and chuckle.
“Adol you say?” he laughed a little more, I felt a little angry because I knew he was laughing at what he’d done to Adol.
I nod, “yes, you know him?”
He nods yes, “have fun my dear, I’m sure Mednin would enjoy the fresh air too.”
I didn’t know if I should be offended or relieved that he was underestimating Adol. I watched as he got up and pulled on his clothes then stood myself. I pulled on a clean shirt and pants. I considered my boots but went for the slip on shoes. My dad told me I was monochromatic, and thinking about that I briefly considered changing. I decided against it ultimately because the clothes I was wearing were comfortable and on top of that, I didn’t have to change when I started tinkering.
Mednin followed me down the hall and I shot both of them a message saying where to meet me and that I would have a tail.
“So Mednin, are you going to want a drink or some food? I could possibly force you to stand there and watch me eat,” I offered to pay knowing the guards were not paid and rationed everything. The shop owner would no doubt be scared of him and just give it to him if he asked but Mednin wasn’t one to abuse his power.
“I couldn’t ask them for anything miss Relic, I would rather just watch,” Mednin answered quietly. I sighed.
“I’ll buy you whatever you want Mednin, I’m wealthy and haven’t spent any of my allowance in a while,” I offered. Normally I was given quite a bit to spend on parts and new toys but since coming to live with Betahl, I had been avoiding any big weapons.
“You don’t have to do that, I’ve had enough food for the day,” he opened to door to the ship and let me in first before climbing in.
“We’ll walk up and order whatever you want, I’m not going to make you stand there and watch me eat,” I almost ordered. He groaned but agreed as we took off towards the planet below.

Spoilers but I’ll be vague so you don’t know which one I’m talking about.
I miss him. I miss him so badly, but I had to let him go. I had to do what was best. Man, I’m the worst. I’m so upset over it. I’ve been drowning myself in Neric and hoping that everything works and the pain stops. I love him. I suppose that’s why I’m letting him go.
I’ll never get that endearing, loving look again, I’ll never get that gentle support, the secret moments we shared when no one was looking. I’m not the one to make the choice. I wish I had someone to talk to about this.
I wish I wasn’t an alien to everyone, even my own kind. Why is everyone out for blood? Why is everyone so determined to fix the problems we had by doing what we’ve always done?
I guess that saying I’ve made my bed, now I have to lay in it, fits. I think that’s the saying. Although usually once the bed is made you don’t lay in it. Whatever. I’m never going to feel that love again. I don’t think anyway. I don’t deserve it. I betrayed him after all.

Part 12 : Last Stop
My new house is lovely. I have so much room and so much freedom here. It’s a perfect place to raise children. It’s also a perfect place to get my mental health in order.
I usually had a pretty good sense of where I was, but when I woke I was lost. The room was dark and cold, I shivered and tried to get up only to feel the restraints on my wrist. I pulled hoping they’d come loose with no luck.
I debated calling out to someone but it was better if they didn’t know I was awake so I could learn as much about the situation as possible. I reached for my bracelet hoping I could send out an alert beacon to anyone. I tried to get up but my wrists were tied to the ground. I heard the beep, alerting me that the beacon was sent out. I hoped there wasn’t a jammer so I could send out a location.
The door opened. A large man walked through the door. He wasn’t nearly as big as Betahl but he was intimidating nonetheless.
“Nice of you to finally join me, princess,” the man said pulling a metal stool along the stone floor.
“Where am I?” I asked.
“The last place you’ll ever be,” he said pulling out a knife. I started to panic and pull at the restraints getting no slack on their part.
“Come on, you’re not gonna hurt him at all, he doesn’t actually care about me, I’m just pretty and rich,” I didn’t want to die alone, I didn’t want to die because of Betahl, “he just wants me to make pretty kids, I’m nothing to him.”
The man seemed to be surprised but I didn’t understand why he would be.
“Princess, you represent a disease in this society, power hungry wealthy. If I was going to make that statement fully I’d make this public because the Leader wouldn’t put much effort in finding me. No, you’re stupid if you think you don’t matter. If he wanted a pretty cash cow he would have married a long time ago, something about you got his attention, something no one else has, therefore, killing you and stringing you up where everyone could see would get a reaction from him. That’s going to be delicious. Watching him suffer.” As he finished speaking my mouth hung open slightly. I knew he liked me because I was strong and fearless. Well I wasn’t fearless but I wasn’t spineless either.
I let my head drop waiting for him to kill me. A knock at the door drew the man’s attention.
“What the fuck, no one should be here,” he got up and walked over to the door. Light filtered in revealing a dug out basement that was crudely done. He stepped out the door and when it shut I heard a thud.
A few minutes later the door opened, I prepared to die, sad I would never see Ghost, or my dad, or even Betahl again. Mednin strolled through the door and cut me loose. Tears started to stream down my face. I had never been so happy to see the constant shadow I was growing used to.
“Come on Relic, the Leader is worried I’d find you too late, thank you for making my job easier and sending the beacon. I saw the ping on your door alarms screen,” he said, picking me up. A bruise covered his face and his lip was swollen. Betahl must have beat him for not being with me.
“I didn’t know you knew how to use my door alarm, glad you did though,” I said wrapping my arms around him, “I’m sorry I got you in trouble.”
He nodded and carried me out, stepping over the body of the man who’d taken me.

Part 11 : Stumbling
I don’t know what to do. I mean. I guess my choice was made for me. I guess I should be happy. I’m still hurting though. I just want you to be happy. Even if I lose you. I’m not that great anyway...
People stood taking pictures as we walked towards a castle turned party hall. It was the most expensive place to rent out; a regal castle, one of the oldest in the capital. The walls were made of beautiful stone with large pillars and glowing purple crystals that lit up the front of the large building. It was a shimmery white, made of something like pearl. There were also large sea creatures similar to your clams but big enough to swallow a ship.
The crowd hushed as Betahl led me towards the door. Pictures were taken, but no one pressed to talk to Betahl or me. I could see fear in their eyes, but when they looked at me I could see they were confused. I was young, young enough to be his child. While he was still young looking, he was older than my dad.
We walked through the doors and two employees stood and took Betahl’s jacket. Blue crystals lit our way to the main hall. They hung from silver chains on the ceilings, and were made into columns, showing paintings of great generals from history and great battles from a history we weren’t taught anymore.
As we stepped through the final arch into a beautiful room, an announcer saw us.
“We welcome our powerful and benevolent leader, Betahl Horrorshek, and his lovely guest, Relic Tammin.” The other guests turned as we descended onto the main floor. A few high ranking generals moved towards us to greet us. On their arms were some of the people my mother used to associate with. The wealthy went for high ranking generals so their wealth and position in society wouldn’t be tampered with.
Betahl released my arm and turned to talk to the generals. The two that came with the generals smiled at me, but it didn’t look friendly.
“Tammin? I didn’t think there was an heir to that estate,” a woman wearing a silver dress that exposed her stomach said.
“Oh, we’re just a private family,” I laughed, hoping they would just stand there quietly.
“More like hermits; after Helayna died we were sure that was going to be the end. We didn’t think her husband had any chance of finding a new mate,” the other laughed. He was a dark purple, heavier guy.
“I’m Helayna’s daughter, but he has found a new mate,” I said, feeling like I had to be defensive for my dad.
“Aren’t you a little young then to be on the Leader’s arm?” Silver dress looked jealous. She wanted the power that came with being with Betahl.
“I’m old enough to choose a mate, therefore, what does it matter? He’s a strong and good looking man.” I didn’t like the way they were talking down to me.
“I’m just saying, shouldn’t you be looking for someone younger and… well, how do I say this? Your family is disgraced, you may have the money we have but you certainly don’t have the class, therefore, you being on the Leader’s arm is an embarrassment for him.” Silver dress was making me want to leave. I knew that’s what she wanted though. She wanted to try to get close to Betahl when I wasn’t there. I wondered briefly if he’d like a woman like her.
Betahl came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. He leaned down and kissed my cheek.
“Darling, would you like a drink? I have to give a speech soon, but I would like you to come up with me. We have an announcement to make and I want everyone to see you, to know,” he said quietly, causing silver dress to glare, then she went back to clinging to the general she’d come with.
“Yes, a drink would be nice. Can I have some Neric?” I asked, having experience drinking that. Silver dress snickered at the low class drink I’d chosen. It was my mother’s favorite toxin. Made her head spin, made her giggly, and helped her relax.
Betahl ignored silver dress. It was as if, for that moment, we were the only two there. “Anything for you, darling,” he said, walking me towards the stage before moving towards a staff member. I was relieved to be away from silver dress.
A girl looked over at me. She was a staff member. Her light purple hair was nearly white, and her skin was dark dark purple. She had light purple eyes, and was in great shape.
“You don’t look like you belong here,” she noted. She fixed her white dress, then got closer to the stage.
“I’d rather be working on a robot, however, Betahl wanted me to come, and I couldn’t very well say no to the Leader of the world,” I laughed. She seemed uncomfortable.
“You should get sick, you should leave without telling anyone,” she paused as another server passed, “I’m not saying something terrible’s gonna happen but it could, especially around that guy.”
I thought about what she said. I could leave. I could be free of my wedding obligations, of my obligations to give him children. Something in me wouldn’t let me do that though. Something in me said that Betahl wasn’t all bad, and that he wasn’t a monster.
Betahl walked up behind me and looked harshly at the woman.
“Here darling,” he said. I sighed and took the drink. “Come with me, it’s time for our speech.”
I nodded and took a sip, then followed him on stage. I looked back and the girl was talking into her headset.
“Hello everyone,” Betahl said into the microphone, silencing the room instantly. I stood behind him. His eyes were ice cold; he didn’t look like he was enjoying himself. “I hope you’re all enjoying yourselves. I’m not up here for a long speech, but I did want to make an announcement. This lovely woman standing next to me, Relic, she demanded a meeting with me. No one had dared talk to me, and still to this very moment hasn’t ever demanded anything from me. Well, not since I was just starting out in the military. She is strong and smart, a bit naive, but that will change with experience and age. Anyway, what I’m saying is, Relic Tammin and I are engaged to be married.”
The crowd turned to me.. Silver dress seemed shocked and angry all at once.
They started clapping, and I smiled before moving off the stage. I chugged my drink. The girl from before brought me another, which I poured down my throat.
After a few more drinks, being around the people wasn’t so bad. They started to warm up to me, almost. I knew they were only being nice because I was going to be one of the most powerful people in the world, but the attitude change made it easier to relax.
The girl from before brought me another glass full of the bubbly red liquid, which I downed almost instantly before she walked away.
Silver dress approached again on the arm of the general she came with. I rolled my eyes very obviously and grabbed Betahl’s arm.
“Relic, I’m so happy for you,” she said. Betahl looked at the woman briefly before losing interest.
“Thank you,” I said, just barely holding my tongue by this point. The general she was with looked at me with mild interest.
Betahl, no doubt, had broken him just like everyone else in the army. He would only look at me as Betahl’s property and treat me as such. Mednin, who’d hid among the crowd approached Betahl and I then whispered something in his ear.
Betahl pulled me along, to which I stumbled. He was moving towards the door as if he was late for something. I tried my best to keep up, however I was drunk.
The door busted open and smoke filled the room. People started to panic and Betahl and I were separated. I fell and suddenly wished I’d brought some of my tech. The girl from before came up beside me and grabbed me pulling me out a side door through the kitchen.
“Ghost doesn’t want you hurt, says you’re one of us, we’re going to talk later, for now I’m gonna go kill as many of these assholes as physically possible,” the girl pulled a mask and hood on then ran back in the building. I was conflicted, killing Betahl would solve a lot of problems, but killing Betahl would prove that the Resistance is no better than him.
For the first time, I was alone and now that everyone knew what Betahl wanted of me, I felt exposed. Soldiers moved towards the building to assist the people inside and the ones coming out. I felt a pinch and someone’s hand slip around me.
When I opened my mouth to scream a large calloused hand covered my mouth.
“Hush…” the voice behind me was deep, then the world went dark.

Part 10 : Goddess
What’s your favorite color? What’s the weather like there? Is Earth as beautiful as the pictures say it is? I’m feeling so bad, but I’ve made my move, do you want to know where I live?
Setting up a room on the ship wasn’t so bad. I’d brought most of my expendable stuff not wanting my bed or wardrobe destroyed if there was an attack. Mednin stood outside the door as I opened the sliding cover over the window. I had a wonderful view of the planet and wanted to feel closer to everyone I cared about. I wasn’t allowed to sleep in here, it was for clothes and a work station. This was the only real place I could make any changes to. I sat on my gel chair and looked out at the purple hazed planet. One of my robots beeped. Someone new was standing right in front of my door. A soft knock confirmed my robots scan.
“Relic, darling, would you be interested in going to a banquet with me? Some generals and I are hosting it and it would be a perfect place to announce our engagement,” Betahl opened the door and stepped in. He was wearing a formal military outfit, which is all grey with gold trim.
I paused for a moment wanting to just hide but something in me started a plan, I had to get him to trust me unconditionally if I wanted the freedom to act against him.
“Yes, that sounds great, I don’t have anything to wear though, the dress I wore when I first met you is really the only formal thing I own,” I had some more casual dresses but they weren’t with me.
“I took the liberty of having a few made for you, I’ve also brought in some people do fix your hair and makeup,” he signaled Mednin to push in a rack with a few dresses on it. Shoes were in bags attached to the dresses they matched.
“Thank you,” I smiled. It was sweet of him to get me things. He walked over to me and offered his hand to help me up. I took it, standing close to him. He wrapped his arms around me then picked me up. He sat me down on the rug and pulled the rack to me.
“Don’t want your bare feet to touch this cold,” he muttered. It was so sweet and completely opposite of what I expected of him.
Looking at the dresses, I wanted something that complimented him, these would be images I would see again and again in the news. I found one that was knee length on one side and got longer, it was a shimmery dark blue with one strap over the left shoulder. A gold brooch with a belt broke up the top and bottom of the dress and gold shoes that wrapped up my thighs. It was the perfect way to compliment him, all the while still being able to stand alone.
I pulled my clothes off and slipped the dress on, Betahl watched, eyes falling on the scars I hid under my clothes. Before anything could be said Mednin pushed the door open.
“The stylists are here sir,” he was shaking but kept his voice steady.
“Oh! Good bring them in,” he led me to a stool and as the two artists came in he bent down and put my shoes on me. They stared a bit astounded. The Leader did this for no one, and here I was, getting royal treatment. Once both shoes were on, Betahl stood and gave both of them cold eyes.
Mednin moved closer to me. Betahl went to the door, “I expect her to be ready soon.” The two gulped and nodded. As soon as he left a smile returned to their faces.
“Hello!” the more masculine one said, “I’m Gorna, this is my wife Lanya, we’re going to make you look more beautiful than you already do!”
His wife smiled and began working on my hair, “I love the color, where’d you get this dyed?”
I smiled, “It’s natural.” Gorna started on my makeup.
“So, how did you meet the Leader?” Lanya asked trimming some of my hair.
“I wanted to meet him, when we were talking about meeting he asked me on a date,” I smiled, “he took me to a beautiful planet, we went hiking, star gazing, it was really nice.”
They nodded, but saying it out loud I realized that was the nicest date I’d ever been on. The most hated man on the planet was the one to make me feel so important.
After a while they turned me to a mirror. My hair was up with gold chains and golden flower clips. They’d emphasized my tattoos on my face and made my eye makeup shimmer. I stood slowly fixing my dress. They smiled.
“You look beautiful Relic, no one will be able to take their eyes off you,” Lanya said, adjusting a clip.
“You’re more beautiful than the queens of old,” Gorna sighed. He cleaned up his makeup and they left. Betahl came in and I turned to him. He stared almost stunned. I shimmered, seemed to glow, I was like a cloud of space gas in the shape of a person.
“A goddess,” he said finally. He walked over to me and leaned down to kiss me. I wanted to deny him but knew my plan relied on how close I could get to him.
Our lips met and our kiss was gentle. His lips were a bit rough but he managed to make it soft.
“Shall we go, darling?” He asked.
I nodded and took his arm as he led me out and onto a ship.

Part 9 : Go Where the Money is
This text reminds me of how hard school was for me. How much I wanted to learn, but had to do so at the expense of my dignity. I did enjoy university. I would go back if things were different. But, they aren’t different and as of right now it doesn’t look like I’ll get the chance to go back.
Going to school was already an ordeal for me. My school's campus was large and it was where a lot of people went to school. I was a very special case, I’d skipped a head grades and graduated to university a lot sooner than the average person. That being said, I would often get mistaken for a lost student, and university students and some staff would try to “help” me find my way back to my class tour. Now, going to school was downright embarrassing. Betahl hadn’t even announced our engagement but he made sure that nervous looking soldier followed me nearly every step I took outside of the ship.
I walked through the gates and people glanced at me and whispered as I passed, I felt more visible than ever. I hadn’t seen Ghost since I’d been forced into an engagement for sake of exposing him to the soldier named Mednin.
“Mednin, do you have to follow me so obviously, Betahl hasn’t even announced our engagement so this is only drawing attention and making me a target,” I asked. The crowd watched me and parted as I moved towards my first class.
“Miss, you know I have to follow you, if anything were to happen to you because I wasn’t following orders, well…” he stopped speaking but I could tell where he was going with that. I walked into my advanced… uh I guess maybe physics class? That sounds close. I walked and and my teacher eyed Mednin.
“Miss Tammin I need to speak to you,” I moved and Mednin followed, professor Garb continued, “privately, if possible.”
“Mednin stay here, I’ll be within eye sight, he probably just needs to discuss a grade,” I tried to order. Mednin looked panic stricken but shook his head in agreement.
Slowly I approached professor Garb, worried he had something negative to say, he was after all, my favorite professor and I worked extra hard to impress him.
“Relic, what is that soldier doing following you? Are you in some kind of trouble,” he lowered his voice so it was barely audible, “if you need some help, I know some people who could use a talent like you and in return keep you safe.”
I smiled. Not a lot of professors took an interest in their students but Garb always did.
“No, it’s fine, I’ve got my own friends to help if need be, I’m in a little bit of a weird situation,” I lowered my voice so no one but Garb could hear, “I’m the Leaders future wife, unfortunately.”
Garb looked shocked, but quickly changed expressions, “are you okay with that?”
I nodded yes, “I don’t really have a choice in the matter if I want to live out in the open here,” I muttered. He nodded.
I returned to my seat and pulled out my work, “Mednin, have a seat or go stand outside, you’re distracting the class,” I whispered as my friends stared from a distance.
My next class, the professor said nothing, my friends kept a safe distance but messaged me. People around campus talked loud enough for me to hear.
“...maybe she’s working on some new project for the Leader…” one guy said. Another person nodded and laughed.
“Isn’t that the girl part of that anti club, shows what kind of person she really is, rich people always go where there’s money,” she finished flicking something at me. It hit Mednin but he made no acknowledgment of it. I looked down at my table ashamed.
Finally, after a few more people started flicking things at Mednin and me, I got up and left. I needed to get away from these people.

Part 8: The Morning After
Hey guys! Hope some of you have enjoyed this because I promise it’s going to get a little complicated. I’m taking it in short pieces to give you guys a break and also so you have time to ask questions. Shyra and Kuzon tried school. I think they like it. Oh. I adopted Kuzon.
I woke to a metal ceiling. Air pumped through the vents of a large ship. I was back on Betahl’s ship. The room was tidy, as expected. I wrapped up in the blanket, the sheets smelled like him. I let myself lay there for a second before looking at the time.
I had ten messages from my dad and Ghost. I had stayed out with the Leader for an entire night. I quickly replied to both of them, telling them I’d fallen asleep. Ghost wouldn’t be happy. My stomach growled, we’d skipped dinner, right. I got up pushing the soft furry blanket off. I wasn’t wearing pants, which was fine, but I had to dig through the sheets to find them. I shrugged having kicked them off in my sleep. I went to the door and as it slid open I was stopped by the guard.
“Miss Relic, good morning, would you like anything to eat?” he said quickly. He was so nervous to mess up, I could see it in his eyes.
“I… would actually like to go home now, my dad’s worried about me,” I ran my fingers through my hair and fixed my pony tail.
“The Leader says you’re to move here, I’m supposed to get you breakfast then escort you to collect your things,” he looked at the floor while he spoke.
“I don’t remember planning to move here,” I said. I wanted to get on a ship and get out before anyone could stop me but I knew he would just come looking.
“Those are my orders miss,” he said. I sighed and messaged Ghost.
“Take me to Betahl,” I demanded. I wasn’t sure what he wanted from me and that needed to be discussed before I just moved in, even if I was supposed to listen to him.
“Mi-” the soldier started but I cut him off.
“No, I want to see him. I want to find out what’s going on before I move all my things into space, I need to discuss school, I have to talk about the distance from my family, and most of all I need to know my role on the ship,” I wasn’t having any excuses even if it came off as rude to Betahl.
“You’re his fiancee miss, your role is to be his wife,” the soldier said as if I just said something stupid.
I went rigid. This was a role that would be hard to keep up all the time. As far as I could tell the war was nowhere near over. I leaned against the wall.
“I changed my mind, can you just bring me some breakfast, I need to process that,” I turned back towards the door, “what’s your name anyway?”
“Mednin miss,” he said before rushing off to get breakfast for me. I walked back over to the bed and pulled my pants off. I wrapped myself in the warm sheets and began to process. Ghost messaged me back. He was livid.
-Horrorshek can’t just take what he wants. I’m tired of him being inconsiderate. He’s evil! We have to get you out of there! That’s it I’m coming to get you!
I replied:
-No. If you come here you could get caught. I’d have to pretend not to know you. I wouldn’t be able to keep that up and I’d blow my cover making me an enemy of the government. We would both be revealed. We would both either die in prison or have to give up our lives and hide.
I was going to have to marry the Leader.

Common Questions
Hey so I totally realized you Earthlings don’t know what we really look like so some of my terminology (specifically nub) might confuse you.
So, we’re a bit bigger than you. In general your species runs just a little smaller on average. Not saying everyone is but on average. We come in all shades of purple, our blood is blue, we have three sexes, blue is a rare color on our planet but it happens, as in my hair and eyes are blue like my fathers but, maybe 10 percent of the planet even carries the gene for it. Maybe.
We have what looks like, little docked tails (nubs). We’re a little furrier than you but our average planet temperature is slightly colder than yours.
We run on a world government and have for a very very long time, cuts out a lot of the fighting among one another. Also, the government under Betahl is cruel and if you’re even suspected of being against them they will take you and set you straight, if you come back at all.
There will also be some sex and nsfw stuff which I will tag as such.
