I'm not at all normal about this game. Even though I've played Kodaka and Uchikoshi games plenty, Hundred Line kept finding new ways to destroy my emotions and my sanity. And, yes, I finished all 100 routes.

I'm gonna take this chance to talk about an episode of Wishbone that has stuck with me into adulthood.

I was 6 or 7, and while I can't remember the book associated with this episode, I remember the subplot with Joe. He discovers a lunch lady loading food from the school cafeteria into her car. She explains it's leftovers that she'd been told to trash, despite the food still being good, so she's taking it in secret to donate to a homeless shelter. Despite the food clearly being intended for the landfill, the lunch lady is later accused of theft, and her job is in danger.

Cue "Baby's First Moral Crisis." In my family, wasting perfectly good food was all but a sin. It was saved for later, or given to someone else. Sometimes, the dogs would get the leftovers, if it was food that we couldn't eat but was still safe for them. Stealing was also wrong, of course. If something wasn't yours, you had no business with it.

Now these two ideas conflicted: The school was getting rid of this food anyway. The lunch lady was getting rid of the food by giving it to those who could use it. But, technically, it wasn't hers to make that decision with.

It being so many years ago, I don't recall the resolution. I think the lunch lady was ultimately fine. What I do recall with complete clarity is having my little world shaken up by this damn dog, and I'd say it was important for me to experience that because it made me think. The plasticity of my little brain was changed. I'd love for more kids to have a similar opportunity.

We need to bring back children’s programming that focuses on reading. I’m so serious

Didn't get this ready in time for Pokemon Day, but posting nonetheless. It's a re-do of something I made, like, four years ago - this time, including Caterpie! Age 10 was way too young for so much responsibility...

Goodness, this took a while. I was trying to experiment with styles of coloring. Next time I'll experiment on something smaller, lol. I never expected coloring Caterpie to be so difficult. By which I mean, getting the colors right but also to stand out on their own, especially the antennae. I ended up going with ones which contrasted best. I like how it all looks in the end, though. Thank you, grass/foliage brushes...

Draw/write what you want without worrying about how others would interpret them. Make your power fantasy; scratch that canon/oc itch. Kill the idea of the "mary sue."

You'll have plenty of opportunities to challenge yourself or try new things. Sometimes, however, being shamelessly self-indulgent is helpful as a mental break.

I cannot even begin to explain the importance of doing things for yourself first and being self-indulgent. Legit, keep this in mind. I get that we may want to get better at drawing/writing, but sometimes we add so much unnecessary pressure and arbitrary rules that things stop being fun It's not just about perfectionism - it's about people-pleasing and losing yourself in the process. Sometimes it's hard to notice, so consider this post a "Creative wellbeing" checkpoint. Make sure you enjoy what you're doing - and the way you're doing it
