Reasons Tori Rivas has short hair:
1. Lab accidents, she would probably cut it off so she could focus on more important things
2. Fights, less hair = less to grab in a scrappy fight
3. Tori isn’t really known for taking care of herself, she wouldn’t take the time to care for it, or use money that could be used for inventing materials to buy hair products
4. She has to put it up to put the Hephaestus helmet on, in an emergency she wouldn’t want to panic and would want to get it on in a hurry
5. VRx77 had shorter hair in her hologram, why shouldn’t Tori
6. Because I said so

REALL, Tori would vibe with Epic
I love cannon Tori but she would not mess with long hair, the second it got in the way of her Hephaestus helmet she’s chopping it off, plus she wouldn’t really care enough to take care of it
ok ok. I SEE your cannon Tori, BUT. I just finished chilling reflections and NOW I HAVE TO COPE.
Bi, genderfliuid, greysexual, greyromantic, greyplatonic, pixie cut, poly, the most gorgeous eyes you ever did see, chapped lips 24/7, never fully hydrated, always a little warm, capris and tank tops all the time, sleeps in bootyshorts and maybe a bra if there's ppl around, you can NOT tell me that Vicki didn't have something going on with Beverly/ Ellie so I'm giving that to Tori because 96% yall, I see where the romantic things are going but I STILL ship Tori×Beverly×Chloe (rarepair my ass it's RIGHT THERE), cat person, likes to stare at fire. Just. Stare at it. Even before the powers., along with being a theif they have a shit ton of charges for arson, never tans, flashbangs don't work on her, perfect night vision, just kinda. Lies in the hot sun, TERRIBLE posture, really hard to get sick, minor resistance to poisons when human (excluding the fact that she can just turn her digestive tract/ mouth into flames, which she can canonically do, and does in book 3), has no idea how to spend all her money and has no idea how to upkeep friendships/ feels like she's doing something wrong because she hasn't really had friends for like a decade, so she just. Buys people stuff and leaves it on their bed or in front of their door or just hands it to them. She never really mentions it, but it thoroughly confuses everyone but Ivan, who does the same thing., paranoid (but not parinoia. Maybe when i learn more), lil bit of low empathy autism, likes anything science fiction but especially movies and podcasts, she bonds with Helen over it, even after that Lodestar reveal. It helps Tori see her as human. Occasionally will babysit Rick/ Beth/ Penelope. Has no idea what to do with them, Ivan and Helen just like to screw with her., COVERED in small cuts/scars all the time, most of which were actually explosions or major injuries that have healed mostly., had a mythology phase (Hephestus, puh-lease), writes fanfic, musical theater nerd though HATES to let people know (all her friends know, but humor her. They see her ass humming Done For), can't really see or hear when in fire form, just something similar, but she's weirdly unalrmed in everyday life when her hearing or view is obstructed.
And if you have no idea what I'm on about, read forging Hephestus

Maybe some Villains Code hot takes:
-Out of all the villains vignettes story’s, the first Perle story is my least favorite
-Low-key…I don’t like Janet (IM SORRY ANA) like I understand her, and all she does is want to protect her kids, but Ivan can do that better than she can, refusing his or Helen’s help doesn’t help anyone
-The VRx77 twist was to predictable, and should have been a more difficult opponent than she was, she challenged Tori sure but Vicky had so much more potential
-I LOVE Drew, but he has no idea what to do with queer characters, Bubba, Chloe, all he does is state that they’re not straight…then nothing happens. Even the Vic/Bev thing was implied, but it’s more than we normally get in media so I don’t care to much about this one
- I don’t care much about the Hero’s POVs, Lodestars is the best, and I love Donald and all the villain hero friend ships, but I don’t really care for just the normal hero POVs if the dont have a guild villain in them
-this is mostly just my preference, but the fight scenes are just to long. Especially if there are multiple going on at once, I get theyre long books and details important, but most of the fights just have to much fluff, and could be ended sooner with out sacrificing personal development or the challenge feeling to little
Anyways, all is just my opinion, obviously
Most of this is just be being picky as well lol, I love these books

ever engage with a media you really really liked and thought you were going to become obsessed with but it doesn’t quite lodge itself into your brain at the correct angle and you can just brush fingertips with the version of yourself from the alternate reality where it completely corrupted your every waking thought

I’m kind of convinced there’s some aspect of Fate in the VC universe, at some point things can no longer be justified by mere chance even through the lenses of plot development. Ik that most everything can be explained away bc it’s fiction, but for me having some sort of behind the scene character/reasoning is just more fun, a barista can make saying come to life and a dragon has a fashion blog, I’m allowed some wild speculations.
Imagine a character similar to Nexus, but instead they shift odds of coincidence (basically meaning it’s not actually coincidence but you get my point) Making sure that Donald was testing his jet pack near where the guild was working, or them ending up at the same club. Ivan getting an apprentice shortly before a confluence etc… (VV2 spoilers, but Ricky Rocket showing up only a lake away from Rick, and the monsters being released while he was at camp, even on the lake.)
As well, it could be the narrator, following the most interesting set of events around, but it’s more fun for it to just be someone random I think. An intern at Vendallia, who’s power latch’s on to Ivan because for some reason it’s draw to him like a magnet, but the kid doesn’t even realize they have this power, it just slowly seeps out around them, like a plague it passes. It spreads from Ivan, to his best friend, who finds a certain hot headed girl trying to (unknowingly) steal guild property. From there the office is just infected. Ivan, Tori, then Donald and even Chloe. The longer they’re around someone the more it affects them, so it just starts with the strange hidden Metas in the office, but it creeps out, slowly but surely.
And they just laugh it off, because of course in this huge world there could be two Stan’s interviewing for the same position, who both like fishing and have the same haircut and mustache. And then the office gets attacked, and their coworker is a hero, and their other coworker gets kidnapped. This is Ridge City though, so it’s all explained away. Freaky storm, gang revenge yada yada. So they try and go back to normal life, focus on school, do their work and fetch coffee as required
And Collage starts, and one of their intelligent and slightly scary professors is their managers Ex-wife? Weirder things have happened, they dont bring it up because they only recognized the same picture of two dark haired children on both of their desks, and that’s to personal to confirm so they just ignore that only their professor wears a wedding ring. Between the Ridge City riots and Alien invasions everyone has bigger things to worry about.
Chaos follows them around like a dog with attachment issues, bad and good, luck is a scale they unknowingly tip.
Anyways, I love strange power HCs, this is related to my other post about someone who unknowingly guesses things weirdly close to the truth and posts them as conspiracy theories. This is just a silly little thing, but I hope someone understands my random power ideas

I kind of hate when the sun is used as a character archetype to just be the bubbly character, or the nice one, or the hot one etc… like yes to the above but it could also be used for so much more. Burning and hot to the touch, too intense to love but you can’t live without it. It’s there, every day no matter if you notice it or not. They radiate warmth, blood pumping and breath inducing to all around them, without being able to experience it themselves. You complain when they’re to close, but in its absence you feel every inch of cold skin, missing how much you hated them because now they’re not there, or drew away to the point your teeth clatter and you need some other source of heat to keep you safe through the night. So far beyond any reasonable expectation why try to reach them at all? You’ll only get hurt trying. That makes them lonely, so unbearably lonely.

Hello! Favorite Nexus Headcanons?
-@drewhayesalyzer
Hey! Hmm great question bc I LOVE HCs and I love Nexus, CR spoilers!!!
Okay, first of all I don’t think he has an ‘original’ reality since we see multiple (or possibly infinite) versions of him, I think he comes from multiple different worlds
He never learned how to cook, why would he when he can just steal Fornaxs’ leftovers? But also has to eat a lot if he uses a lot of energy, if he doesn’t want to eat he’ll just die and replace the Nexus in whatever world he’s in
Everyone’s just adjusted to him popping in, so they just try to get whatever information out of him they. He’s got nothing against the singulars, but they all hate his fixation with them (Stasis)
Not a headcanon but when I first read VC I thought Nexus was blond 😭 like a dirty blond, tbh his hairs probably so dirty it could be lol

WOOO I remember binge reading this awhile, before following you in case it ever updated, I tend to stalk your page bc this is one of my favorite series and I’m so glad you decided to post more of it <3 Would I be able to be added to the tag list for this please?
Anyways, brilliant chapter as always. I definitely have my theory’s on who the stalker is, but more right hand info 👀 interesting. Hero and Detective is amazing but all my love goes to Supervillain and Civilian, bc they are just amazing
Looking forward to the next part lol 🫶
The Lair in the Woods: Part 12
A/N: Did I binge-read this this week to write this next part? Yes, yes I did. Did I finish rereading part 11 and immediately go “oh shit where’s the rest?!” You betcha 😂On the bright side, past!me was kind enough to leave plot notes for me about what needed to happen in this part lmao Warnings: reference to stalking, reference to violence, swearing, reference to attempted murder/desire to murder. Tension. My Masterlist | Taglist Info or Taglist Request Form | The Lair in the Woods masterlist
The weight of Civilian’s gaze threatened to crush them. The air fled from Supervillain’s lungs, leaving a barren chasm they couldn’t ever fill no matter how badly they wanted to.
“I feel like you’re not telling me something,” Civilian accused.
Supervillain’s body stilled. Not an ounce of blood flowed through their veins. No breath filled their lungs—hell, their diaphragm didn’t even quiver. And their heart? It was as still as a corpse’s. Swallowing hard against their dry throat, Supervillain forced themselves to meet Civilian’s eyes. There was no amount of mental preparation they could do to fortify their mind for the question they knew was inevitable.
It always came back to heroes and villains, to good versus evil, to safety versus danger.
“Are you…I mean, I know you can’t answer this but…” Civilian’s voice was quiet as they spoke, trailing off as their gaze dropped to their lap. Supervillain watched as they bit their lip and eventually shook their head. “Are you a hero or something?”
Supervillain’s heart thumped against their chest, so hard and quick they feared it would burst right through their skin.
How were they supposed to answer that? If they lied and Civilian found out about it later, they would never forgive them. But did it matter? Supervillain was helping them, so why should they care what some almost human popsicle thought of them?
They couldn’t think. They couldn’t stall, they could only answer. They knew that, and clearly their lips knew that too. Because as the shock started to ebb, Supervillain realized they were already speaking.
“More like ‘or something,’” they found themselves saying. “I’m not really affiliated with either. I guess that makes me a privateer of sorts, or like a vigilante? I don’t know, I’m just a person with powers and a day job…although sometimes it’s a night job,” they laughed. “It’s a lot of traveling and shift work if I’m being honest.”
Well at least they hadn’t stalled or hesitated for too long, because Civilian was nodding. “So…you don’t have to be a hero or villain if you’re a super?”
Supervillain paused. There were a lot of people in the caped community, and they had information on a good chunk of them—especially the local players. But how many people with powers existed in the world? They certainly didn’t know, but if they had to bet on it, they would guess Right Hand knew or could find out. There was probably a study floating around about super genetics and an estimation of how many people in the world’s population had powers. But who could really say for certain because the law didn’t always make you register your powers. There were at least two generations walking around who didn’t have to register and why would they do so now? Supervillain’s parents certainly hadn’t. And when they were born, Supervillain's parents had chalked up Supervillain’s powers up to a combination of ancestral genetics and left the hospital with their bundle of joy in their arms as soon as they could without raising suspicion.
“I guess not. It never really crossed my mind,” they lied. It was so convincing, they almost believed it themselves. And in a way, they supposed it was true. They never considered becoming a hero. It was simply their legacy. Their parents had each come from a long line of capes—hero, villain, and vigilante—so Supervillain had never thought about anything different…
…until Mentor had come along and destroyed any good intentions in them, along with their belief in justice and heroism.
“I don’t know how many people have powers, but I’m sure there are too many throughout the world for all of us to run around in masks and capes.”
Civilian laughed. “I guess you’re right. I never thought about it like that. I wonder though, if more people would become villains over heroes. It’s so easy to do whatever, but to uphold the law or morality? I don’t know…seems like a burden, don’t you think?”
Supervillain stared at them curiously. “Yeah. I couldn’t imagine it.”
“So tell me about this plan? I can really just stay here? And you’ll pretend to be me?”
“Yep.” Supervillain shook the dust of their previous conversation from their mind. “Medic will stay here with you and the bulk of my team is here too on account of the storm and the lull in contracts we’ve had recently. I guess people feel safe, what with the whole cozy winter holiday season the media is pushing right now.”
“And that’s it? What will you do while you’re me?”
Supervillain shrugged. “Whatever you normally do. I’ll tell whoever I meet that needs an explanation as to where you’ve been that you needed to go out of town to…well I guess we’ll talk about specifics, but the more you can tell me about your day-to-day life, the better. Who your friends are, what inside jokes you have, everything you can think of.”
Civilian’s shoulders rose and fell with a shuddering breath. “I’ll do my best.”
“That’s all you have to do,” Supervillain smiled reassuringly, “my team and I will take care of the rest.”
Hero sat back with a sigh. After an hour of searching, they’d found nothing about Civilian Surname that was of any use. No criminal history, no legal records, nothing. And of course all their assumed social media was private, and without cause, it’s not like they could gain back-door access to their accounts.
Well, unless they felt like lying on a subpoena. And Hero definitely couldn’t paint Civilian as a suspected villain. It was too much of a stretch.
“I guess your search is going about as well as mine is?” Detective asked, shoving aside the case file and crossing their arms across their chest.
“Who knew it would be this hard. Everyone’s got something.” Hero tapped their fingers against their knee. “I wonder if the InterwebMachine would have anything. Maybe their social media profiles weren’t always private and the historical index catalogued them?”
Detective shook their head. “I already checked. They’ve always been private as far as the InterwebMachine is concerned. When is Right Hand supposed to send you—”
Hero’s phone nearly vibrated off Detective’s desk. Sharing a look with them, Hero grabbed the damned thing and glanced at the Caller ID. Ex-Friend. They rolled their eyes. Of course .
“Speak of the devil…” They muttered, tapping the call acceptance button and bringing it to the cellphone to their ear. “About time you called.”
“Well that’s rude. Most people say ‘hello’ first.”
“So who else has my number, and how did you customize the caller ID?”
“Just me, and of course Supervillain. If you didn’t want us to have it, maybe you should’ve changed. Of course, I would’ve found it again anyways.” Right Hand’s voice dripped smugness. Hero could even picture the prideful bastard now, lounging with their laptop somewhere nearby. They wanted to punch the pride right out of them. “As for the caller ID, I have my ways, you know that.”
Hero rolled their eyes. They always did. They forced the words they really wanted to say and focused on the matter at hand. “What do you have me?”
“Resentment?” Right Hand offered. Before Hero could spit any of the venom they felt, Right Hand laughed. “Oh you mean about Civilian, don’t you? Is your email still the same?”
“No, you can send it to [email protected].”
“And have you waste your precious time tracing it back to us and giving the Agency some trace of us? No thanks. I already sent it anyway.”
Hero grit their teeth. Of course they did. What was the point of this phone call? To goad them? Detective watched them curiously. It took every ounce of self restraint they had not to get up and find someplace private to have their conversation. Taking a deep breath, Hero tried to keep their voice calm and unbothered. “I don’t have access to that anymore.”
“Yeah you do, why else would I be able to send things to it?”
Hero’s hand twitched. How they wished they could reach out and choke Right Hand. Their patience had wholly given up on them and this conversation. “Okay, fine.”
Before Right Hand could say anything more, Hero hung up and took a deep breath to stave off the impulse to throw their phone at the wall. Before they could put it down, it buzzed one more time. This one with a text that read “You’re welcome, jackass.” Hero let their eyes fall shut for a second and sagged against their chair. Gently, they laid their phone back on Detective’s desk and dared to meet their eyes.
“So…that sounded interesting.” Detective said. Their face was a battle between amusement, concern, and suspicion.
“That was Right Hand. Apparently my phone number is public record to them.”
Detective blinked. They opened their mouth but promptly closed it with a shake of their head. Their eyes returned to the desk and they began to shuffle some papers and folders around.—a nervous habit Hero had noticed over the years. Hero’s stomach knotted and roiled with a storm of apprehension. Finally, Detective spoke. “Did they send you what Supervillain promised?”
“Let me check.” And promptly destroy my phone, current identity, and start my life over. Again. “Yep. Let me check it for trojans and I’ll send it to you.”
“You’re leaving?” Detective mirrored Hero’s movements and stood from their chair.
“Yeah,” Hero said bitterly and yanked their jacket on. “I’m due for patrol in thirty minutes, so I gotta check in and get to work.”
Detective frowned. “Oh right.”
“See you tomorrow? Same time?”
“With coffee?”
“That’s a given,” Hero winked.
Detective rolled their eyes and shoved them out of their office. “Get out. I have work to do.”
Hero put their hands up in surrender, laughing. “Goodnight, Detective.”

Ivan would be offended if she didn’t use his cookie recipe. You can’t really see it bc it’s small and my handwritings crap but the runes in Cookie Fornax’s eyes say Supernova and Fornstar. Lodestar looks a bit uncanny but I kinda like it, like a sort of unattainable beauty. I think my favorite part of this drawing is her eyes <3
