lena and kara are really gonna be the last major scene before the show ends forever huh… because their relationship is the core of the show. that’s what you’re telling me

In my mind this is canon

and when kara and cat are spending late nights trying to get the magazine to print and cat notices that lena is constantly hanging around bringing kara coffee and takeout and waiting up for her to be ready to come home because "oh we have this like thursday night takeout thing" "oh keira! you're dating again! good for you!" "oh! no ms grant it isn't- it isn't like that we're just - we're just really good friends"

and when cat has to suffer through long weeks of watching lena and kara dance around each other, both utterly enamoured, slinging these long loving looks across whatever space they're in and has to listen to kara talk about every single thing lena's charity does and how much of a difference she's making in the world and how proud kara is of her

and when she finally - inevitably - snaps one night after sitting through 55 minutes of kara scrolling through pictures on her phone of her and lena at the latest gala together - "just as friends!' - and starts making flirty comments towards lena just to see if she can make kara understand

and when kara gets all flustered and annoyed that cat would even ~suggest~ that lena's ass looked good in her dress because yes it did but you can't just say things like that! well kara can and she did on the night but cat can't - that's just - oh

and when lena turns up 20 minutes later to take kara back home for takeout thrusdays and cat just picks up her things pats lena on the back and goes "enjoy date night you two" before sauntering out knowing her work here is done and she can finally stop listening to kara ramble obliviously about how much she just really appreciates lena as her friend and how she's "never had a friend like lena before"

then what hm?
