History of violence
This novel is a sketching that bring of once own imagination through this art work. The sketching helps to bring out small imagination or one’s own story through this art work called sketching. For me comics are a short story brought out using this talent. My first comics that I saw using graphic was in the class when sir showed us an example. As I saw it I liked the sketching in which a short story is portrayed.  This comic called “The history of violence” shows us how two people have revenge that entirely affect the family. There is a detailed note on all the effects of sounds. The texts in the comics are brought out well using images along with the novel. Throughout the story the history of violence has brought well.      The story explains us in three different parts. In this graphic novel, it’s a kind revenge between two persons. And because of their grudge the entire family will be tortured. Earlier Joey pretends to be unknown to the strange people. In the first part of the novel the story seemed to have slight confusion. And in the second part we can find a solution for that confusion. Then in the last part there is the ultimate climax or the end of the story. On the whole it’s not only about the revenge or the way they take revenge on each other’s but I also shows the love towards their family, to save one’s life the two guys in the story take up a tough step. And that step further lead to a big problem at the end of the story.

Pride of bhagdad
After reading “the history of violence”, “The Pride Of Baghdad” impressed me because of its graphical illustrations, especially the color i.e. Bright golden yellowish, as I followed the comic or novel I also noticed that the whole comic show a time period from night to the early morning, after which I realized the reason for the bright golden yellow color in the novel from the beginning. The detailing of the novel was so good that I went on reading the novel without moving my sees from the starting to till to the end. While reading the comic, at the beginning I was confused on looking at the text and images, to understand what was really happening. After a while I slowly started to understanding the effect, when both image and text combines all I could notice was that I was getting deeper into the comic and as time pass by I thought or felt as though I was watching a movie. The Pride of Baghdad is a novel which is about the animals and forest hunting; here the animals are fighting for their pride of who should be king and who should be respected by all. And thus all the animals end up a fight between themselves especially the lion’s. It is actually a short story about how the lions fight in spite of living in the zoo. But at the end the conclusion was very sentimental. The Pride of Baghdad illustrates human violence for their greediness and also the effect on the innocent animals.

selfieeeee!!!!
A few years ago, standing in the middle of the road and posing for a camera would have created stare and giggles in the minds of people passing by. But now, every other person has a camera ready, looking for an opportunity to take a photo of them. The word selfie has become so popular over the last few years. Sites like Instagram are rapidly filled with pictures of people posing everywhere. A person’s life is an open book, from the time they wake up to the time they sleep, because of the recent trend called ”selfie”. In my point of view selfies are those images taken by one self in order to know how one person looks in varies stages of life. It is a kind of remembrance that one can keeps throughout their life. But many people take selfies in order to know their appearence and change to a more suitable, appealing or trendier style. It is more often done by young girls in order to impress someone else.

My most embarrassing photo
The most embarrassing picture of me that was ever taken was a photo that my dad  clicked when I was in probably the 4th  or 5th  standard. The occasion was my school prize day for which I had to dance dressed as a girl in a typical bharatnatyam attire. And unfortunately somehow my dad got into the green room after my performance and managed to convinced me to pose for a pic. You could say it was one the most idiotic to to do for a guy to do in a girls attire. The picture (according to my dad) was exceptionally good but I personally hate the pic. Even to this day eventhough the photo has been misplaced my dad still remembers it and doesn’t leave an opportunity to tell it to our friends and relatives. He likes the pic  so much because he always liked a girl child and when he saw me dressed in a yellow sari with a red border, wearing a wig that was braided into a plat, with bangles on half of both my hands and with kajal, lipstick and mascara he thought I looked better as a girl than a guy and this has been a reason for embarrasssment of the nth degree in front of friends and relatives ever since.

The photo I like the most
The photo that I like the most is a painting that my friend had created and posted on facebook. The painting was about three deer that seem to have been separated from the herd and are trying to find their way back home but seem to be startled by something and are trying to investigate it. This scene is placed in a deciduous forest and the color of the painting depicts it to be autumn and the time of the day is dusk. This painting is so special to me since deer seem to be a family and the two bigger deer are standing in front of the other smaller deer in a way of protecting the smaller member of the family. I am a person who has no interest in art, but this painting really caught my attention and I am really touched by the concept of the family standing together in a time of possible danger.

So far this was the best
The newspaper that was on my list for this week was the Deccan Herald. Compared to the newspapers that I had read I expected it to be much more boring compared to the other newspapers, and it actually was true. But I don’t think I mentioned the ‘informative’ factor. The BM and TOI are definitely more colorful and very attractive but DH definitely has more information over the other newspapers.
The first page of the newspaper contains extracts/prologues to the main article with a foot note, I would continue on if the article caught my attention and each time was amazed at the amount of details that was given, where as TOI had overlooked some of it(in the common articles). Moving on from the main page the next page contains issues about the environment and the government’s initiative on such issues. The next section mostly contains topics relating to crimes and civil issues then it is followed by the continuation of the articles on the first page with a little attention to politics. As the pages go by the topic changes from technology to world news and also the disputes between nations etc. and finally moving onto the leisure section.
It is not much different compared to TOI with respect to the placement of news but there is a lot of difference when we talk about the amount of information DH is any day better  than the other newspapers that I have read so far.

Into the second week of reading!!!
As our assignment for our second week began I felt like reading the ‘Times of India’ for this week. When compared to the ‘Bangalore Mirror’ that read last week the ‘Times of India’ is a bit boring but it is definitely more informative. It is similar to the ‘Bangalore Mirror’ in some ways like most of the headlines in the newspaper is covered on the first page and there is a brief description about it and then indexes the articles inside, it  really helps when you need to prioritize  between the news that interests you and the boring topics. The same way of reading the  ‘Bangalore Mirror’ did not apply to while reading the ‘Times of India’. Normally I would read the city news and move on to the last few pages to catch up on Hollywood and Bollywood gossip but this week that did not apply. I had to read all the city news and national news and then move on to a supplementary sheet for the topics that I was interested in. One of the most distinguishing features about the ‘Times of India’ is that it’s got a lot more ad’s than BM especially ‘Bangalore Times’. And the quantity and quality of news in ‘Times of India’ is far more better than BM. And these are some of the articles that I found interesting in the ‘Times of India’.
Tumblr media
This piece really caught my attention because first “akkai” had taken a session for us in ‘Igniters’ and second of all it is really wonderful to know that there is development towards accepting a so called taboo community into our society. If the law can make provisions for such people I think we too should make place for them among us.
Tumblr media
And these are some of the other articles about the city which gave more clarity when compared to other newspapers by recreating the incident by using pictures.

Why online newspapers Why not physical newspapers???
When we begin to talk about the difference between online newspapers and physical ones, the first thought that comes to mind is the quantity of information we are entitled to online, it is like the sea where there are a thousand versions of the same news from different perspectives. The main advantage of online news when compared to physical newspapers is that while reading a newspaper the story is built up in our mind and after that we tend to alter the news according to our understanding, but in the online newspaper each article or piece is supported with enough videos and pictures to get us to clearly understand the situation. News is only a part of the newspapers, the main reason why newspapers are still existent even though they are sold at such a nominal rate are because of the big companies which pay to get their ad’s in the newspapers and in newspapers they are bounded by the limited amount of space but online there is an infinite amount of space to post one’s ad’s and sometimes for free, and the advantages are innumerable. This does not suggest that the physical newspapers are no good because in a developing country like India where the internet is not available to all the newspaper is a medium of circulating news and also helping to educate the millions of people who are not exposed to the kind of education that one is privileged to get in cities like Bangalore. Therefore even though there are many advantages of the online newspaper it is still not practical to apply it on a large scale and so there is also a need for the old fashioned  newspaper to be in circulation to get news across.

Observing a newspaper.
Observing the organization of contents of a newspaper is something that many people don't actually really pay attention to. But i had to forcefully pay attention to it for my second assignment in english class. The paper that i subscribe at home is "Bangalore Mirror". Firstly my family like to subscribe to this newspaper is because it gives all the required local information about Bangalore, we don't really require it for anything else because if we do we always check it on the internet. So getting down to the organization of contents in BM as its popularly called i normally read the headlines and if the matter is interesting it gets my attention or i move on to the more interactive part of the newspaper-the comics, puzzels, etc. and this part recieves a good amount of my attention. Next comes the cinema and Hollywood news and this is a few pages that takes me almost 20 mins to read as i have to scrutinize all the gossip talks and hot news very closely and then i start reading the paper backwards so next comes the global news and then the politic news which is almost inexistant to me and then comes all the NAMMA city news which takes me about 10 mins to read and then i just glance through the recipe column as i like to cook and then i wind up. The supplements differ a little from day to day but its the same overall mostly but the classified sheets are more on Sundays but that's mostly it when it comes to differences. So that's my observation of BM for a week.

Sequence of MCT.... Why???!!
When you hear MCT you don’t think about the logic behind why It is called MCT. But almost every short form that has been made always has a meaning. First of all MCT exhibits a property of euphony Which basically means that its easy to pronounce it. Secondly, the reason for placing culture in between is because is in the very existance of media and technology, meaning that media and technology wouldn’t be succesfull enough, without culture feeding the media with news and without technolgy being accepted by the public the life of media and technology Would be very shor lived and Thats the reason for calling MCT "MCT".

AMAZING GENERS!!!
Among the many genres that people like to watch I prefer and love to watch the horror genre. The reason why I like them so much is because it contains a mixture of all the feelings that one expects to get by watching all other genres ,for example suspense, thrill, adrenaline etc. the only thing that one should not be expecting in a horror movie is comedy. Other than that according to me it is the best genre to follow. For example movies like ‘night on elm street’, ’conjuring’, the paranormal activity series,  certain serial shows based on real life like ‘a haunting’ on DISCOVERY channel, ‘ghost hunters’ on AXN etc. This genre pumps up the adrenaline in one’s body so much that it can cause after effects like it can alter one’s behavior and thinking. Most of the movies are based on real life experiences and can send a chill down your spine when it displays the activity and the interactions of spirits and entities with humans. In recent times the new trend is to attract audiences by including horror scenes in movies , this trend is getting momentum due to the new music and dressing trends that encourage people to think that ghosts and spirits are no longer taboo.

His Most Favourite Actor!!!
In this post we were asked to write about the actor whom we love/follow or about people whom we know who go mad for their favorite actors. Personally i don't have any favourite actors but i do know a classmate of mine who could go to any extent to watch a movie of the tamil actor 'VIJAY' on the first day in the first show. There was a movie of his which was released recently named 'JILLA'. He being such a die hard fan of 'VIJAY' had been trying to get tickets to this movie from a long time but was not able to get one since all the theaters were sold out due to the hype that was created about this movie but on the day of the release he managed to get a ticket in the most low class theater that can be found in majestic and watched the movie while standing as there was no place even to sit. A friend of his had accompanied him and according to him it was one of the most drab movies to watch, but the feedback that we got from my friend was that he hadn't seen a movie better than that. After seeing how the movie did in the market it was not hard to decide how good the movie was. Similarly when you ask anybody about the actor they follow their reaction too would be similar but for a person who does not find a role model in such personalities he does not find any logic in such acts, same was my reaction when i heard that my friend had gone through so much to watch a movie not because it was good but just because his most favorite actor had played a role in it.

BIFFES-behind the screens
The BIFFES[Bangalore international film festival] which was held on the 26th of December was the sixth time that something of this kind was held in namma city. This year the city was privileged to have Mr. Kamal  Haasan and our honorable chief minister Siddaramiah to inaugurate the festival. This year it was a platform for our people to watch over 160 movies from around 52 countries. There was a lot of talks going on about it but finally only a few people found the time to go and luckily I found a person named NIDHI to talk to and find out a little more about the fest. Normally when u ask people they would tell you only the good parts and create a rosy picture about the event but occasionally some people do come out with the facts and it is sometimes shocking. Like for example at the BIFFES passes as well as invites were issued to people to attend the inauguration but at the venue only people with invites were being allowed. It wasn’t fair to allow only the invitees and not allow the rest as there was nothing as such that was mentioned earlier. But that is nothing when compared when compared to the next atrocity, with newspapers giving publicity to this issue a sense of caution is spreading among the people but you just cannot help it when you are facing ROUGE COPS. Yes, even an event of this caliber was not spared by cops who’ve gone bad. It was witnessed by my friend where women and children were being manhandled by these heartless cops but could do nothing but watch the dreadful scene. But when we read a report about the BIFFES in the newspapers did we see this?-no. But if you or your loved one was in that situation what would you have done? Just let it be or would you have made your actions hurt these ROUGE COPS??

'The Hidden Fortress' with hidden expression.
This week’s assignment was to watch a Japanese movie ‘’The Hidden Fortress”, first without subtitles, and then again, but with subtitles the second time. The assignment was definitely different from any other that I had ever done, and I enjoyed the experience of having such an assignment to do. When I watched the movie without subtitles, I didn’t understand anything at first. But as I continued watching the movie, I began thinking up a possible story in my head. But even then, what I understood of the story is just some of the parts. I could understand what was happening at certain moments, but the bigger picture was still unclear to me. For example, I understood most of what they did, scenes of the two peasants finding something valuable, hiding from armies, bickering amongst themselves, and so on. These scenes are some of the ones I understood. But it was the actual plot of the movie, the general story that I couldn’t figure out. On the other hand, while watching the movie with subtitles, I finally understood the reason behind all their actions. It was this explanation which couldn’t be conveyed through action or expression. The whole story became clear and the movie subsequently more interesting.  I must admit, I did doze off in between the movie when I was watching it without the subtitles. This fault I can blame either on the timing that I chose to watch the movie, or on the fact that I didn’t understand anything, or both. But then when I saw it with the subtitles, my curiosity made me sit through the entire length of the movie without feeling sleepy at all. Another point about watching the movie without subtitles was that I found myself noticing the expressions of the actors even more. Now, I can’t mention expression without giving credit to the two peasants as they had, by far, the most expressive faces. They had a wide range of expressions which helped me understand some parts so much better. Through their brilliant acting, they managed to convey their part clearly. The second time I saw the movie, I was pleased to see that I had guessed right at some scenes. This only goes to show how expressive their acting was as it managed to convey the meaning without words and solely through expression. But while I was watching the movie with subtitles, I realised that since I spent my time reading the subtitles, I didn’t notice all the expressions as much as I did the first time.

The differences that i don't know between multiplexes and single screens
The differences that I see between a multiplex and a single screen theater is not much, as I do not know how a single screen theater operates. But I sure can build up a picture of how it is depending on how it looks from the outside and after i’ve heard the general notion from people and then compare it. And after finding out a little about single screen theaters my impressions on single screens is still the same, negative. In multiplexes the seats are much more comfortable, there are food courts which serve some of the most varied and tastiest food but on the contrary single screen theaters are so shabby and dirty. It has puke and people chew and spit tobacco all over the place. The crowd that come to such theaters are drunk most of the time  and behave in the most cheapest manner possible. Even if I make up my mind to go to such a theater my friends would definitely not accompany me and I find the reason as to why I would want to watch a movie alone and the movie and audio quality is so drab when compared to multiplexes and once anyone who gets used to watching movies in multiplexes will never prefer to go to a single screen theater again. No doubt that there is the cost factor where the single screen theaters charge not more 50-100 rupees whereas the multiplexes charge not less than 250 rupees but even for the 100 bucks that people pay at a single screen theater they would expect some sort of cleanliness and maintanence which is normally not found in single screen theaters and that being the main reason for people to choose multiplexes over single screens.

My most loved/liked theatre
Generally people are huge movie fans and always prefer watching the movies in which their most favorite actors have played a role in, but I’m not the type of person who follows movies very much but I do watch movies as a pass time which is mostly at home but if my friends call me out for a movie and I have really good feedback about it then I wouldn’t mind joining them but in a theater of my choice. And the theatre that I love to watch a movie in is the PVR Cinemas in Forum mall, Koramangala. The reason this place is so dear to me is because it was the first place I took my girlfriend out on a date but that’s not the only reason I like it , it’s also because the picture quality and the audio quality are exceptionally good , it was also the theatre where remember watching a full movie without falling asleep with my parents. And speaking about other kind of theatre other than multiplexes, I’ve not watched a movie in any of them so I’m not very familiar with them. But on general impression I don’t consider them to be very nice as they look so shabby from the outside and you can’t expect them to be very nice on the inside. So on this impression alone I haven’t  made up my mind to ever go inside one and this is the very reason I haven’t gone to any theater outside Bangalore and after being so used to going to only the best cinema halls in town I don’t think I would ever want to go to any other cinema halls other than multiplexes.
