Day 1 of #langblrdiarychallenge
I'm a little late to this starting on the fifth but I didnt see it until now. My paragraph is very short. I'm VERY new to german so had to use a dictionary for a lot of the words (highlighted ones). But it says:
"Ich hatte einen schlechten tag. Ich wusste nicht, was ich tun sollte. Ich wollte nur frau Ryan Anrufen. Ich will die aber nicht argern."
Translation (hopefully if I did it correct):
"I had a bad day. I didnt know what to do. I just wanted to call Mrs. Ryan. I didnt want to annoy her though."
Although the majority of those words were new to me, I was excited to learn the word "to annoy" which is "argern." If this is wrong please let me know. Any native speakers are welcome to correct anything.

if you are in high school and you follow me idc if you learn nothing else from me, but learn this: do not join the fucking military. they will promise you all sorts of things in exchange for joining their muder-system for a few years. do not listen to them. you wonât find a sense of purpose, you wonât find an adventure, you might not even get the money they promise you for college. if you survive, youâll come back with blood on your hands, feeling just as aimless as before except knowing youâre a killer. the government will drop you like hot potatoes the second you are not useful to them, and you will be on your own with nothing but some ptsd and a more intimate understanding of the phrase âblood for oil.â

How to learn a language and its culture together
1 Learn typical recipes (maybe try to recreate them)
2 Watch movies (not only the genres and themes you prefer, but watch their classic movies that everyone there already watched)
3 Listen to music (same as 2)
4 Watch and read the news (follow the news on social media)
5 Watch people travelling around the country
6 Follow youtubers (the vloggers who visit buildings, who talk about festivals and holidays and do stuff at the town)
7 Read books (you can read in english and then re-read in the target language, itâll make easier)
8 Follow random people on social media (in that way youâll can see the everyday language, photos of some city, political stuff, etc)
9 Follow meme pages - memes arenât spaceless and timeless, they talk about some subject the people from that culture are talking about
10 Talk to natives and ask them about their daily lives

4 exercises to improve speaking skills in your target language:
Tell a story. Itâs a great exercise to improve not only your speaking, but also your grammar and vocabulary. Think about what happened to you or anyone else, that you would talk about to your friends or family. Then tell a story out loud using only your target language. Telling stories is a huge part of our everyday talks, so itâs really important to practice that.
Talk about a book, a movie or whatever you want. Imagine youâre convincing someone to check out (or not to check out) a book you have already read. Review every movie or TV series you want, and donât worry about spoiling anything or offending someone. If itâs a piece of shit, learn how to say that when talking to Queen Elizabeth II, and how to say that when chatting with someone youâd meet at the bar.
Discuss an important topic that is interesting to you. You can choose from anything: society issues, politics, economics, science, environment, culture⊠First try to explain it and then tell your own opinion on the subject. Itâs different than the second exercise since it develops the specific vocabulary.
Read an article and summarise it. Find an article in your target language that interests you and talk about it. You can do it like you would when asked about it in school, or you can do it in more of a âsharing knowledge with my friendsâ manner.
Et câest tout! You can call it âact like a youtuberâ exercises. If you want, record yourself while speaking. Remember that work is the key to success.
