Can I just say that a large majority of Undertale players blame the bad things on Chara EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE THE ONES WHO DECIDE TO DO GENOCIDE, WHY WOULD CHARA KILL LITERALLY EVERYONE SHE LOVED INCLUDING HER FAMILY--

This meme I made perfectly sums up how half of the fan base views Chara. – IT DOES. And god, I hate how this has become prominent again after the release of Deltarune. Like, if you see Chara as antagonistic, that’s your call, but I feel like it misses the point of UT to have a character be so irredeemably evil, as some people like to treat Chara. Darker takes that are heavily flawed? Valid. I just feel that nuance is important, especially with UT’s overall themes. But people smugly declaring that Chara is canonically evil and anyone who thinks otherwise is too absorbed in fanon and needs a reality check? Not valid, and I sincerely hope the player control theory in Deltarune ends up being true just to not give that side of the fandom the smug satisfaction. Endgame genocide Chara? Definitely twisted. But it was with our guidance that they became so extreme. :P
