I am intrigued by the way image exists in different forms. When images went through various codecs, their transitional states offered new shapes to the digital information. Some of my experiments included taking screenshots from video to build 3d models, performances recorded by a flatbed scanner, and giving flat image dimensions by projecting them on a hanging cloth. Images underwent processes to transfer themselves to other states of being. In between the thresholds of virtuality and physicality, their translations accentuated the inaccuracies. Eventually, the process blurred the original image when the glitches accumulated. The diminished visibility allowed traces of tactility belonging to these digital processes to appear.
-
I found the way photogrammetry technology enables images to embody a physicality intriguing. When handling low-quality photographs, the photogrammetry programme makes further decisions to construct a 3D model. To compensate the insufficient amount of data, it sculpts a new physicality to the rendering subject. Mistakes invent a new materiality to the familiar. I used it to compress still images of performances and moving projection into a dead set. After so, I rendered the models back into animation sequences. Keyframing brought movement back to the set, animating it once again virtually. Furthermore, I took them to post-production programs, adding shadow, ambience, reverberation etc. They were intended to endow more real-life likeliness to the image. These stimulations embody a strange materiality- the Ultra-HD image mimics our real experiences, offering something alike on a flat screen.
-
I looked at ways to portray space in moving image. Though using metaphorical sound effects and fast cuts to confuse real footage with animation, viewers are given clues to envisage a space. The transition between cuts implied something in between the two frames. This space would only exist through viewers collaging the information from their perspective. The act of assembling to recreate a spatial experience would be the most exciting thing happening- we are here to see what possibilities lie beyond the frame. And ultimately, things are asking themselves to be seen in another way.

“Annihilation” at Tate Exchange
When matter and antimatter come into contact, they annihilate – disappearing in a flash of energy, leaving traces, producing new artefacts and ideas. Annihilation Event invites a contrary group of artists, archivists, archaeologists, historians, technical experts and theorists from all over Europe to bring their objects, machines, speculative processes and performances into constellation. Annihilation Event will take place in the Lethaby Gallery at CSM in March 2017. In the lead up to this students and graduates from MA and BA Fine Art at CSM, Winchester School of Art and ENSAV La Cambre, Brussels have been working in research groups on a prototype event. For one day at Tate we will run public workshops and demonstrate processes including casting, photogrammetry, reflectance transformation imaging and virtual reality applications. The Department of Subjective Archaeology will install its offices and participative laboratory.

Under Ground, 2016
04:27
1) This is the record of a performance. I travelled the underground station based on how I had played the online game “Agar.io”.
2) This is about a city; how it is trapped within the situation, and ain’t sure which exit to go in order to move forward.
3) This is about flaneur-ing, in the underground station and the online space.
