cassian malfoy:
“maybe it’s fate –” he joked, there was nothing about his self-assured smile that indicated that he even believed remotely in the concept of fate, oh no – life was what he made it, every moment – every second with her had been a choice and his pride could not be concerned with being humble or willfully naive. jaw dropping as he feigned shock – melodramatic to say the least as his hand rested over his heart, “we weren’t friends in your books? i wouldn’t have ever guessed –”. shoulders falling into a shrug as he drew closer to her while trying to remain a respectable distance, “i couldn’t resist –”
lips twisting into a sly smile, “that wasn’t a no –” observing her carefully, he knew he couldn’t push too much, he wouldn’t give her a reason to retreat back into herself, but he wasn’t going to not appreciate the progress. “i’m too selfish to leave you alone”
❝ you regarded me as a friend , then ? ❞ rosine canvasses his face for only a moment more , forcing her gaze back to the front of the atrium so the two stand shoulder to shoulder . just like how they had been at the station , but this time rosine will do better at making sure she’s got a leveled chance . in spite of that , fate is a word that manages her touch before she can even repeat it . cassian struck her as the type of person to not shy away from anything he wanted , a man of many riches and prestige had somehow found himself entangled with her . two branches grafted from different trees , one not outshining the other in its battle for more . ❝ i forget , that’s never stopped you before . ❞
her arms cross against her chest then , fingers curling against the fabric of the sleeve stitched into her dress . her cheeks should be burning red from embarrassment , but the flattery that comes from his obvious flirting only causes her to shake her head . cassian’s more committed than she had imagined , ❝ then i would be substantiated in assuming that i should expect to see you more often ? ❞

evan rosier:
it was rare when their jobs interloped with each other but it was still a surprise to see rosine here. he had finished talking to some of the auror’s walking over towards rosine and giving her a polite smile. “fancy seeing you here.” he says, he usually spent most of his time with the black’s and the other lestranges, but all in all he was pleased to see her in her element. in both of their element even if evan thought their presence was unneeded here. the issue had been resolved quit quickly and it was just about the time that he would have started heading home anyways. if not for the bloody paperwork.
rosine packages the necklace in parchment , finding satisfaction in breaking the curse on the object . it’d been a tricky situation , and while most of her field work usually included collaboration with other departments , she is quickly surprised to be approached by evan rosier . ❝ it’s almost like i am doing the work required of me , ❞ brows tilt up , but a smile still graces her lips . she’d heard of him many times before - his reputation definitely matched what she had pictured in her mind . ❝ you and your team cleaned up the scene nicely .” she offers as a compliment , now fixing her gaze towards the wizards moving around them with a purpose .

rabastan & rodolphus lestrange:
@rodolphvslestrange
he couldn’t remember the last time all of them had been together that wasn’t something like a public event like the one they just left. it had been too long, in his opinion, family time was very rare but he had loved the times they had when they were children. holidays were something special because he had tried to make them that way despite the darkness that seemed to follow them in their house. it was everywhere, creeping into them, but unfortunate for rod he had carried that with him. when rabastan asks the question, it shocks him, but no one would ever know, his features are calm and collected, though he is surprised as his brother’s outburst, it had stung, left an awful taste in his mouth that his brother would assume such a thing. he had continued making the tea for a moment before turning to look at both of them. “yes, what would make you think that rabastan?” he asks, he tilts his head and looks at rosine again. “of course it’s irrational.” he tries to keep the venom in his voice, offended that his siblings would think so low of him, even though, secretly, he couldn’t blame them. they both had a secret from rosine, he feared that it would rear it’s ugly head in no time.
“it isn’t irrational.” he stated with a finality he didn’t really feel entirely. he was terrified the lestrange family was involved and it wasn’t out of the realm of possibilities, given their standing within the death eater circles. their family was high ranking, or at least he thought they were. maybe rodolphus knew better but he was looking for reassurance right now, that was all. he ducked his head, stole a glance at rosine and felt badly he had done this in front of her. she knew he was marked, she’d written to him after his ceremony but he was pretty sure she didn’t know details beyond that, or wouldn’t want to know and here he was talking about it so openly in front of her. “it isn’t irrational.” he says again, frustrated. “we’re death eaters and it’s clear the tufts were targeted, their deaths weren’t natural by any means. our family —- just tell me we weren’t involved, okay?”
there it is again , a confusion sparked by something that rabastan has said . when her eyes find themselves on her little brother’s face , there is a passion bursting with each word , and with each question , rosine becomes more convinced that he’s not asking for the reasons that were normal for most death eaters . but that’s not something too concerning for rosine at the moment - instead , she’s more peeved by the quarrel . she’d been the one to welcome them to her place , and here both rabastan and rodophlus were stuck in a standstill . rosine refused to be in the cross fire . not when she had made the decision years ago to not take the mark . ❝ enough , rabastan ! ❞ she finally interrupts the pair , frustration etched into her features as rosine continues . the only regret she’s got is raising her voice at rabastan , but she’d never consented to an interrogation about something that definitely didn’t involve her . ❝ i thought we could spend the evening here . i’d cook something simple , just an escape . ❞ all an optimistic thought at the time , but her patience is wearing thin . ❝ so we either drop this or you two are leaving . ❞

benjy fenwick:
rosine’s home had always felt more inviting than his own, but he thinks that’s just because of the person that she is. he had bent down to say hello to the cats, petting their head before they scurried away from him. he had looked around her place with a soft smile on his lips as he thought about the presents. she brings him back and he nods his head, “oh yes, multiple.” he had taken them out of the big box that he had been carrying. “i had noticed before a lot of the muggle pantings so i had tried to get some that were in a similar style. this is from a native romanian, found it at one of the markets on my off day.” it was a couple of paintings, they weren’t very big to take up too much space. “a couple of trinkets too.” they were decorative pieces, and then of course, “and chocolate. perhaps that was more my sweet tooth than anything but i figured chocolate is good for the soul.” he smiles again, sheepishly handing it to her. “well i’d trade you, but i don’t think it works like that.” he jokes, shaking his head.
rosine uncovers the canvas , thumb grazing against the edge as the corner of her lips stay warm with a fond smile . it’s a rather simple piece of art , but the thought is what warms her . “ these are so nice , thank you -” she studies its details for a moment more , appreciating the fine array of colors that coated the space . even without magic muggles still were able to produce the same feeling that coarsed her veins with a paint brush . “ i picked my first set of muggle art from a family that had to be oblivated . i never took muggle studies at hogwarts but it’d be ignorant to think that there’s no significance with these illustrations .” she finally puts the pieces aside , looking up expectantly at the rest that benjy had to offer her . of course she’d take the chocolate with no questions asked . “ i’ll never say no to chocolate ,” she adds with a grin , already moving to open the wrapped sweet to share with her friend as they sit on the couch in her living room . a hand extends towards them with a bar , expecting them to take one at the expense of having something to give back . “ believe me , it wouldn’t be a fair trade either . i hardly want the pile myself -” rosine now rests her arm against the back of the couch , moving to face benjy with brows raised with neverending curiosity . “ how was the trip ? were you able to resolve all the issues ?”

cassian malfoy:
he should keep away – there were far too many eyes and a chatter that had his ears ringing. he had been good, good for all but ten minutes before his resolve trickled away, she was standing at the front, the kind of beauty that he hadn’t appreciated till a well deserved tongue lashing – she was a united front for rod, what was the harm of an old friend saying hello? a somber smile stretched his lips as he garnered her attention, “i had to pay my respects” he stated easily, as practiced as he was – perhaps a part of him was sympathetic, he didn’t doubt the annihilation of the tufts would serve its purpose, but he certainly wasn’t enthralled with the idea of the lone wolf grace tuft would become.
“you don’t look displeased –” he commented, a smile smirk stretching his lips as he turned his head to cast his family a look, “there was a better view here” he retorted, “– but if you’d like, i can go back?” what did they say about indifference? it was supposed to draw people in.
the hum that coats her throat is a clear indication of her understanding , arms drawing to cross against her chest as rosine regards cassian with a nod . “ just like everyone else here ,” it’s just another occasion to garner influence - something so dreary like a funeral could serve its purpose to the willing subject . “ but what is the count now ? ... two times in a week ? ” a smug expression replaces the somber one that had been contouring her features for the past hour as rosine continues . “ i’d be brave to say that we might be friends rather than acquaintances .”
even with a distorted view , rosine can distinguish the other’s elegant visage , but it’s not the sleek dress robes that catches her attention . she’s seen materialistic riches all her life , “ that’s because displeased wouldn’t be the right word .” rosine knows better than to let his taunting produce a reaction , but it doesn’t stop her from suddenly snapping her gaze towards him when he starts to pull away . it’s not begging nor a plea , but it’s rather close : “ you wouldn’t .” two words that aren’t a challenge , more so an observation .

the lestranges / @rodolphvslestrange , rvbvstn
it had been a very long time since he had a proper sit down with his siblings like this. he wouldn’t lie and say that he wasn’t…. nervous about it. the nerves coming from a place of wishing that things were better. he had given bella a knowing look before he left, playing out how the night would end, already knowing what his siblings would probably say. by the time they got to rosine’s his first prediction dropped. he stands like a stranger in his sisters home, having visited before but in such an intimate and sad setting it feels different. darker. not as warm as when he once visited before. he hadn’t known exactly what to say to that, other than he was glad that it wasn’t them, and that he would do anything to protect them even if it meant them hating him for it. “it’s a tragedy,” he says, looking at his sister, his eyes briefly looking over at his brother. “it’s not hard to feel empathy especially if you imagine your loved one’s in their shoes.” he says, passing by both of them to make tea.
bas entered the space behind his brother and sister, he’d been here once before and that felt like ages ago, even though it was just a few days. so much seemed to have changed and while he wished this could simply be a bonding night for the three of them he had a few burning questions to ask and he couldn’t for the life of him bite his tongue. “was it us? did we do this to the tufts?” he blurted out, directing it at rodolphus, hoping it didn’t offend rosine. but he was marked now and he wouldn’t let himself be kept in the dark. “that memorial would have been uncomfortable enough if i hadn’t spent the entire thing wondering how involved we were.” he didn’t let on that he was distraught over the idea, more so putting out the vibe that he just wanted to be trusted with the information. but he knew it would come off as him being suspicious, or judgemental and he just couldn’t help that either.
another quip is set to leave rosine’s lips , the sourness that had built over the entire day now brimming at the edge now they’re in the comfort of her home - but before she could even speak , her head snaps toward rabastan . had that been the reason why rabastan had appeared so uncomfortable at the venue ? when had she become so blind to his emotions ? even if the accusation seems to have little foundation , rosine finds herself encouraging it for a moment . rodolphus would never easily incriminate himself , he was far more cunning than that . “ what would make you think that , rabastan ? ” it’s a question rosine has a feeling she’d never get the answer to , but to be an unknowing suspect in the murder of a respectable family ? to insinuate that any member of their family would be capable of murder in any degree is unsettling - “ rodolphus , tell him he’s being irrational . our family had nothing to do with it ,” now her eyes move to rodolphus , whom stopped in his pursue of tea . “ - ... right ?”

for an event that was meant to memorialize a legacy that ended too soon , rosine stays in the front row of the venue . appearance always mattered , she’s reminded by her mother , especially since it was her blood that organized the event . it’s a cheap performance , one mangled with prose recounting the importance of family from rodolphus and other bit a painful farewell to what innocence was left in grace tuft . whomever done it had a stake in the war , that much was obvious as families with different allegiances stood in the same room . this was a rare occasion where everyone could come together with a similar thought : it shouldn’t have been the tufts . the tight squeeze of her hand only relaxes once rosine realizes the company that had stepped besides her , the figure of a familiar body welcome as a distraction . “ i should have known you’d show here ,” rosine decides that cassian needn’t realize the relief his presence brings . “ the view from where your family wasn’t enough ?”

“ who ever thought to have an open bar for this service is either bloody brilliant or mad , “ rosine says to other wizard next to her, taking liberty in swirling the contents of her glass with a shrug . maybe the alcohol was a needed remedy to smooth the anxiety that was evident in the room . “ i haven’t decided which one yet. ”

mundugus fletcher:
ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 comes announced by the smack of hands over rosine’s chair , looking down over her with a laugh at the comment . ❛ i think i have pay coming in soon , ❜ mundungus shrugs before adding in a little more quietly : ❛ should probably check up on that . ❜ he twists around to lean against her table . ❛ but of course , rosie dear — i’ll treat you to an out any time . just say the word , ❜ he coos , before reaching into his pocket to take out a small … rock ? he doesn’t even know , but he gives her puppy eyes for it anyways . ❛ and check this thing out for me ? ❜
rosine pays little attention to the mention of monetary compensation , her fixed gaze now settling to where mundugus slips his hand into the pocket of his robe . “ this might be the opportune time to cash in the free drink ,” she states as the object comes into view . her hand is now extended , inviting the magical item into her palm to allow for a better look . the imprints of dark magic is still evident along the edges , centuries of erosion having only scraped the surface of what was hidden inside . “ i would ask where you got this , but again , i have a feeling you wouldn’t tell me even if i pressed nicely .” the light in the pub was hardly enough to lend a helpful view , but that doesn’t diminish her determination .

amycus carrow:
❛ ooh, ❜ he couldn’t help but laugh, impressed by rosine’s spitfire tone. he’d probably deserved it, but maybe that was his mission all along. he leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest as he bounced his head — he liked the idea of having something lined up already for when the year was through, especially something with the lestranges. his eyes drew nearer when rosine began to draw circles on the table, humming at her questions. ❛ rabastan ? ❜ he wondered if this had something to do with quidditch or chances for the world cup. ❛ of course. any idea who he might be in trouble with, or what ? ❜
the sweet twinge of amycus’ laugh only further coaxes her ego , finding an odd comfort in that moment . she’s not blind to his character , but it serves to be resourceful when he turns willingly at her requisition . so instead , she nods . “ yes, rabastan . ” it’s better to have someone else to pry , especially when she’s always respected her little brother’s ambition . but in a world that was so quick to prey on gentle spirits , rosine needed to make sure he was okay . “ maybe i am just being paranoid , but he’s been a bit secretive with me lately . and to be truthful , i have never liked it when people lie to me .”

the stiffness from the apparition still sores the muscles of rosine’s back , but that does not stop her from tossing the black heels to the right the moment she walks into her flat . melancholy still lingered in the pit of her stomach , and it’s a feeling that she’d prefer to ignore . but looking back towards her two brothers who follow behind , rosine is reminded that it’s a consequence of their family name ; darkness always seemed to follow them no matter how hard they tried to fight it . “ i cannot imagine being in grace’s place ,” somber words to her siblings who fought on too many occasions . it’s probably the closet rosine will ever admit to feeling grateful it wasn’t their names on the paper . “ it was a nice service , though . how many times did you rehearse those emotions , rodolphus ? almost seemed convincing .”

rosine is found immersed in a mountain of paperwork , one arm slouched against the wooden table and left cheek balanced on her palm as she moves her quill across the parchment . this was her least favourite part of the job ; but the adventures , the hidden caves , the new people and everything else extraordinary made the agonizing work worth it . on this particular night , rosine had decided to bring the paper work home . her cats , however , appreciated the company as the pair stayed by her side . the sound of a knock on her front door surprises her , especially when she hadn’t expected anyone that evening . a million and one of guesses course through her mind as she approaches the entrance , and rosine gladly accepts failure when she catches benjy’s figure before her . “ believe me when i say that your company is always welcomed , especially now .” sure the idea of gifts are nice , but anything is better than explaining the predicament with mundugus in legal terms . “ gifts ? as in multiple ?” she inquires , gaze now falling from her friend’s face to their hands with expectant look . “ you’ve always got the knack of making me feel like i don’t deserve you . the only gift i’ve got for you is some paper work .”
@rosinele
it seemed that while they both had the same line of work, they rarely saw each other. by the time that benjy had gotten back from romania on his mission he had no idea where rosine had been, hence why he was standing outside of her door with a box of presents that he had brought for friends and coworkers. he had been to her place before, noticed a lot of the muggle artwork and went from there when it came to gifts. he had stopped by a lot of markets and found so many odd trinkets that they thought rosine would enjoy and by the time she opened up the door he was finishing counting all the things he had brought back for her. he smiled up at his friend with the box in hand. “sorry to stop by unannounced, i come bearing gifts.” and then they remember the box of romania tea that he had been gifted from a local. “i also thought you might enjoy seeing a friendly face.” they add, rocking on their heels in front of their flat.

amycus looks rosine up and down, noticing the obvious in their height difference before she took a seat. ❛ when you’re down there, and i’m up here, yes. ❜ he grinned. he hummed at the request, knowing he would be smart to pretend to take it into consideration, but smarter to accept it immediately. ❛ no convincing needed — you know i’d do anything for the lestrange family. anything. ❜
rosine is not entirely unaware of his testing gaze on her , eyes rolling at his words as if she had expected any thing else from him . “ keep going with that , and i’ll be sure you’re the one on their knees .” the sweet smile is back on her lips , placing her chin in her palms as she watches him expectantly . it hadn’t been part of her plan to ask him about her future plans but it’s a request that she’d heard from rodolphus months ago . “ that was something i was betting on ,” rosine hums , now dropping her gaze towards the table where her other hand had begun to draw circles on the surface . “ you’d do me a favour then ? i’m afraid that rabastan might be in trouble . not sure with who , but would you mind keeping a watchful eye on him ?”
