Born into an enormous family, Roslin is a middle child and daughter of Walder Frey’s fifth wife, Bethany Rosby. Despite her family’s wealth, Roslin had a difficult childhood; her father’s serial divorces and cheating made for an unstable household, and he is renowned for his scheming and meddling. Noting her rising social status, Walder has proposed a match between his daughter and Edmure Tully – which she is intrigued by, for her own reasons. Roslin has risen to the rank of soloist with the Royal Ballet. She has been marked by the media as a potential prima ballerina, and has recently been profiled and photographed by several major magazines. She is a calm, self-reflective and resolute young woman, and she has mostly succeeded in burying her tendencies toward romanticism and idealism, preferring to express them through her art, and detach herself from the outside world. Deep down, however, she is convinced that she can have it all, including the kind of family she never had as a Frey, and so she has projected her hopes onto the Tully family, whom she admires for their closeness and commitment.

Thread: we'll see what happens [closed: roslin, edmure]

Roslin's always early when she doesn't mean to be. She orders one of those strong mojitos as soon as she sits down, and sips it compulsively. It's cold going down, cold enough to make her teeth ache, but she isn't a habitual drinker - that warm feeling is quick enough to show. Thankfully it's dark enough in here to hide that red flush that creeps up her neck when she drinks. She isn't sure why she's nervous. Isn't this just to satisfy your curiosity? And she knows she looks good. Long, dark hair brushed until it gleams, that combination of short floral dress and leather jacket that will always speak to her, and those heels that kill her already tortured feet but always work.

She won't even admit it to herself, but this is the first real date she's ever been on, the first time she actually hopes he'll call her back afterward. And she isn't even sure what mad impulse led her to set it up. You don't actually want to make your father happy, do you? No, this is for her. To see what life is like outside her closed-off space. To see if something can happen. Roslin taps the screen of her phone - still fifteen minutes to go - and counts back from one hundred, the way she used to before she took the stage. She'll be calm before Edmure finds her table. Her large brown eyes scan the crowd for a glimpse of red hair, and she finds herself smiling when she spots him a few moments later, still early yet.

I realize this is out of nowhere, and for that I’ll apologize - but I felt obligated to tell you that yesterday my father called me home and asked me if I’d consider meeting with you! I’ll be honest here, I am not in the habit of doing what my father tells me to, and I don’t want to put you in an uncomfortable position by any means - especially because he intends for something romantic to come from this, I know he does. Feel free to disregard this message for that reason. I won’t hold it against you.

To be frank, though, I am interested in meeting you. Since our families are so close, I’ve known you by reputation, and I think I’ve even glimpsed you at a company party or two. I’m a dancer with the Royal Ballet, as you might know, but as it happens I have two days off this week, and well, I wouldn’t object to a date if you’re interested. I think it’s worth a shot. Meet me at 8 on Thurs at Inamo in Soho? They have a killer sake mojito.

OOC Intro

As always, I'm late on the bandwagons!

I'm Jenny, I'm 24, I live in Ohio, and I'll be playing Roslin Frey. I'm mostly on tumblr during the day and early evening (like before midnight EST) and I can be a bit shit with answering things right away, but I won't ignore anyone, promise. Let's see... I really love my cat; I'm in a somewhat long-distance relationship so I have a lot of free time and I want to fill it with friends; I love writing, cooking, and sleeping. I have amazing dreams. I'm currently writing a fantasy trilogy, and I jumped back into rping after years of inactivity because I wanted to stretch my skills, and also because ASOIAF is the fandom I've felt most passionate about since my early teens.

I have social anxiety, so sometimes I may come off as a bit distant; it isn't intentional. Mostly I'm not great about initiating things or answering until I feel like I have a perfect answer. Hopefully being part of a community like this will help! Sometimes I need a bit of a push to jump into conversations, so if anyone is willing to extend an invite when you think Roslin might fit, I'll be forever grateful! Despite her family’s wealth, Roslin had a difficult childhood; her father’s serial divorces and cheating made for an unstable household, and he is renowned for his scheming and meddling.  She is close with her mother, who now lives in Cornwall, her brother Olyvar, and her sister-in-law, Genna Lannister, but not particularly with any of her siblings. Roslin was driven from a very young age to define herself and stand out from her siblings, which manifested itself through dancing. Partly because of her natural beauty and grace, but largely because of her determination to be seen and taken seriously, Roslin has risen to the rank of soloist with the Royal Ballet. She has been marked by the media as a potential favorite for the eventual prima ballerina opening, and has recently been profiled and photographed by several major magazines.

Her private life, however, is less certain. At 91 years old, her father, a board member for the Tullys, has been pushing to get his children a secured spot in the family business before he or Hoster Tully die. His older children are in competition with each other for the extremely profitable career soon to open, but none of them have been particularly impressive to Hoster, Brynden, or the heirs. Walder, not unfamiliar with arranging marriages for his children to further his own status, has propositioned a match between Roslin and Edmure Tully, which she has agreed to pursue – for her own reasons. Preferring to keep out of the family business and enjoy her career and her friends within the ballet company, Roslin is interested in Edmure despite herself, especially because she has kept all of her relationships thus far strictly casual.

She is a calm, self-reflective and resolute young woman, and she has mostly succeeded in burying her tendencies toward romanticism and idealism, preferring to express them through her art, and detach herself from the outside world. • FUTURE PLANS FOR CHARACTER: A minor injury will force her to spend some time getting back in tune with the outside world while she recovers, and will also remind her that her career is not a stable one. Roslin goes looking for a source of stability in her life, only to realize that the political climate is on the cusp of a massive shift, and her family connections will inevitably pull her into the chaos. She has to decide whether she wants to pursue a relationship with Edmure and make her father proud, or withdraw from the political and familial games entirely.
