A narrative trope that really speaks to me is a character taking on an impossible challenge, an unbeatable enemy, knowing that success is almost unthinkable, and doing it anyway because there's something worth fighting for, that it's the right thing to do, that the smallest chance is still a chance and going down swinging is better than forfeiting your right to say no, this is wrong.

I think there's something very human and very hopeful in that tenacity, in taking stock of a shit situation (a shituation, if you will,) and saying "well, if nobody else is going to tell you to fuck off, it may as well be me," and doing your damnedest to punch an unstoppable force in the face.

GUIDELINES.

Est. December 2019. Call me CARO, pronouns she/her or they/them. I’m well over legal age and work full-time for a living. English is not my first language — it’s Spanish.

This is a sideblog. Follows back from main blog @goldenornstein.

The character Velstadt the Royal Aegis, plus anything pertaining the Dark Souls series, are property of FromSoftware. I own nothing here, but my own writing and ideas.

First and foremost:  I encourage my writing partners to take all the time they need to reply, to drop threads and leave IMs/asks unanswered, if they feel like it.

I’M A SLOW ROLE PLAYER MYSELF WHO DROPS THINGS OFTEN AND FOR VARIOUS REASONS. In any case, we can always start new threads.

You can always send in random asks and memes, even if we haven’t interacted yet, or if we have other things going on.

This blog is selective, private and non-exclusive: I don’t always follow back, I’ll only interact with mutuals, I’ll role play with multiple versions of the same character without becoming ‘exclusive’ or ‘mains’ with anyone.

I absolutely LOVE AUs and crossovers! Always feel free to suggest that kind of interactions and plots.

If you’re going to send a message to start plotting, please present an idea or verse to work with — aka NOT just ‘wanna rp?’ or small talk.

I have a strong preference for plotted threads, but I will write improvised things too, including casual one liners.

I tend to drop most introduction and first meeting threads.

I won’t do any IM or Discord role playing, even though both channels are always available for plotting and random chatting, on ooc and ic things.

Character ≠ Writer aka the golden rule of role playing. I will not interact with people who over-identify with their muses, romanticize and/or condone their problematic aspects from a personal point of view, or just show any signs of blurred lines between OOC and IC.

I portrait Velstadt as an individual with great virtues, terrible flaws and lots of moral greyness in between. Nevertheless, I won’t accept interactions or plots that use him as a prompt to make other muses look sympathetic, righteous or powerful.

Role play is a two way street. Your muse shouldn’t be a support character for mine. My muse shouldn’t be a support character for yours. If there’s no mutual interest and development, then I’ll probably drop all interaction and unfollow.

Don’t god-mode, especially by forcing fanon or your own headcanon on my muse. When in doubt, just ask.

I like to keep my prose, formatting and graphics plain and simple, but I don’t care about what others do — so long as the text is legible.  Just a couple of basic things: please don’t reblog asks directly and don’t use large gifs when writing with me.

I’ll role play without icons, simply because I can’t really find a FC with enough resources.

Original Characters are more than welcome. However, I won’t acknowledge any OCs meant to be Velstadt’s blood relatives or lovers, unless there’s a plot beforehand.

This blog does feature plenty of potentially disturbing themes like horror, gore, fictional racism, mental illness and trauma, which will be tagged accordingly (e.g. horror cw).

Explicit sexual content will only happen in a highly selective fashion, always tagged as NSFW and never involving any writers under the age of 18.

I refuse to write any content associated to pedophilia. I won’t write explicit rape or dubious consent either.

I might consider writing abusive relationships and other similar topics, albeit in a limited fashion, and only IF  there’s a previously discussed plot, plus proper portrayal of those issues.

HIGHLY SELECTIVE ABOUT SHIPPING. I have exactly zero interest in writing romance just for the sake of it — there must be chemistry and a plot.

All potential romantic relationships take place in their own completely separated realities/verses, unless I explicitly agree to plot and play a particular ship in some other way — which isn’t something I’ll usually do. Hence, never get my muse involved in romantic dynamics you might have with other RP partners to force a love triangle, cheating or even polyships.

Platonic and non-romantic relationships, of any kind, are always welcome and highly encouraged.

Basics.

Name: Velstadt.

Nickname Epithet: The Royal Aegis.

RP Status: Low activity. 

Fandom: Dark Souls.

Age: He has the appearance of a man in his early 30s, yet he’s older than that, humans having a altered life spams.

Species: Human.

Nationality: Born in Shulva, Sanctum City.

Gender: Cisgender man.

Romantic Orientation: Demiromantic; he doesn’t experience romantic attraction, at all, unless there’s a deep emotional connection beforehand. Only attracted to masculine individuals.

Sexual Orientation: Demisexual; he seldom experiences sexual attraction unless there’s romantic attraction beforehand. Potentially attracted to any gender.

Religion: Formerly a devoted follower of the Gods in a rather conventional manner. Upon his arrival to Drangleic, Velstadt did not embrace the kingdom’s customs and continued practising his own faith, but would progressively lose interest in the Gods as religious figures, focusing on a more personal approach that revered the Flame’s power above all else. On the other hand, he joined the Warriors of Sunlight during his early youth and remained faithful to the covenant until his last day.

Relationships.

Birth Order: The eldest of five siblings; two girls and three boys, including himself. Velstadt was rather close to his siblings and helped raising them, since both of his parents worked to sustain the family.

Parents: His father was a soldier of Shulva, his mother worked as a seamstress. They married while still very young (she was already pregnant when they did so) and were quite happy together.

Closest People/Friends/Allies: The army of Drangleic, especially the King’s guard --- which he commands. Formerly the army of Shulva. The Warriors of Sunlight.

Eyes: light blue, large and keen sighted.

Skin: Medium / tan with golden undertones.

Hair: Caramel blond, wavy, mid-back length.

Height: 2 m / 6′5.  

Body Build:  Tall, muscular, toned and defined thanks to a life of unfaltering training.

Facial features: Full lips, large eyes, slightly crooked nose, high cheekbones and heavily freckled complexion.

Scars/birthmarks: Several faded scars across his whole body as a result of wounds received in battle. Freckles across his nose and cheek bones, shoulders, chest and all the way down his back. 

Personal.

Usual Mood/Expression: Strong-willed, disciplined and loyal to a fault. Driven by strong beliefs and adamant to betray any of them, to the point of being narrow-minded about his ideals and moral code. Velstadt is a rather kind individual, quite generous and empathetic, even if such qualities aren’t that evident at first.

Secrets: At some point Velstadt lost faith in the Gods as divine figures and objects of worship, even if he still believes in the power behind them: the Light itself. He tends to keep any sadness, anguish, fear and exhaustion to himself, continuing as if nothing happened despite physical or emotional pain. He misses Shulva and his family, dearly so, in such a manner that he used to have frequent thoughts about forsaking his duty in Drangleic and returning to them. He’s attracted to men.

Quirks: Velstadt is a man of simple tastes, that is, rather indifferent to luxury and wealth, despite his high status. 

Savvies: Advanced strategy and war tactics. Religion, history, politics, diplomacy.
