#i tried asking the original 30 year question first#and it seems to have cottoned on to that#but alas the math and logic haven't figured out 1985 yet

To be fair, he *is* completely silent here. Not his fault the wind & electricity decided to get all up in arms.
Once they established that Castiel could in fact just appear in a room without making a sound this scene became soo slutty. He rly was just putting on a show for the pretty hunter huh

so here's what I've now done to make the internet usable as a person living in the UK without handing my ID and/or facial scans over to random third parties:
signed up for a ProtonVPN account
set up a tunnel from my router to a ProtonVPN server in Sweden
written a python script to query DNS servers for social media domains every 15 minutes and collate the results into a list of IP address ranges
created routing and firewall policies to block connections to those IP ranges on my normal connection and send them through the VPN tunnel instead
set up a second, personal VPN so I can make my mobile devices connect to the internet through my home network even when I'm not at home
now it's time to open source this whole thing so others can enjoy using the internet the same way they did three weeks ago

The haunted house one was cool & my second-favorite screensaver. I still miss Bad Dog! though.
youtube
do gen z and really young millenials realize that the most popular screensavers of the 1990s had SOUND?
I feel like it's important that y'all know that the After Dark screensavers, which were basically the most popular not-automatically-provided-with-Mac-or-Windows screensavers around, had sound. And were a thing. DO THE GEN Z BABIES KNOW SCREENSAVERS????? I SEE SO FEW THESE DAYS

i mean this from the bottom of my heart: no one is impressed by your loud ass car. actually we talked about it and we all want you dead.
#what better way to say ''i love you'' than with the gift of a spatula?#also the kids next door have cars so loud that the windows in my sewing room literally rattle from it#i recorded the sound once & played it for one of them#just so they'd know how bad it was and HOPEFULLY get them to stop idling in the driveway for 10 minutes at a time#narrator: it was not a successful tactic#in all other ways they're great kids though so ya know#could be worse

apropos of nothing but having just blocked another today I am perpetually shaking my head in disappointment that all the porn bots that follow me to try to game their SEO are for straight porn. like don't they know where the fuck they are

my sewing machine does exactly one thing, and yet every single time I try to sew something with it I feel like I've put my baby in the pelican's mouth. over and over again.

I'd be willing to bet that the circle of people who believe chatbots can be sentient within the confines of our current technology, and the circle of people who refuse to recognize the sentience and humanity in OTHER HUMAN BEINGS is just a venn diagram pancake stack situation. You can't even see the humanity in ACTUAL humans, so no I don't trust a single one of you to be able to "tell" when the chatbot you're obsessed with is "real" - you're just lonely by choice and scrambling at anything close to the FEELING of connecting without actually having to respect other humans and show your own vulnerability in the process
#this reminds me of a story i've told here before#about when i took my dad to a doctor's appointment#and per the dr's instructions when we arrived in the parking lot#we called the office to have someone send down a wheelchair (cardiac patient)#well the guy with the chair shows up#and he's chatting with my dad (who was still sitting in the car) while he sets the brake⸴ adjusts the foot rests etc#and literally the *instant* my dad was in the chair#it was as if he turned invisible#the guy starts asking ME all the questions#no matter how many times i told him ''i'm just the driver; you need to ask HIM about medications/pain/mobility/etc"

"exercise will give you more energy" gets said a lot as a common piece of health advice but I think it needs to be expanded into "exercising will make you tired while you do it, and you will continue to be tired immediately afterwards, sometimes even the next day too, but over months of consistent exercise, your muscles will get stronger and therefore get less tired out by everyday activities, making you feel like day-to-day life takes less physical energy than it used to"
