(A/N): @anxiousselfship sent three hearts for the song drabbles, so I’m gonna do three. So I’m gonna put them in separate posts AKLSDGKHJLDG. This one’s Our Song by Taylor Swift.
—————
One of my hands was laced in Sou’s. The other was firmly wrapped around my iPod.
“You know,” I muttered, “We don’t have like… a song.”
“Do we need one?” He asked with a smile.
“I don’t know. I was just thinking about it.” I tapped my chin as I spoke.
He gave me a quick kiss on my nose. “I mean I’m sure I could think of a few. We’re the cutest of couples.”
“Yeah. Me too. We’d just have to narrow it down.” I ran through a list of songs in my head.
“But honestly,” he said, the cutest smile on his face, “I think our relationship’s a song, like in and of itself.”
I smiled at him. “You’re so cute.”
“Well maybe that’s the lyrics,” he said with a laugh.
I put my iPod down, and wrapped both of my arms around him. “Well now you’ve certainly gotten my attention.”
He put a hand on my heart. “Well there’s the beat.”
I nodded. “What about the background music?”
He kissed me. My heart skipped a beat.
“That good?” He asked.
“I guess it’s just acoustic.” I laughed.
“Maybe another. Just gotta make sure we have enough for the whole song.”
I kissed him again.
“Another?” He asked.
“You can kiss me, too, if you want,” I offered.
He happily did so.

Random Chapter [1]
Stupid, awful idea. Lettilan stood on her toes in the secret passage, watching the council room through the ornate vent in front of her. The men sat around a large dark mahogany table, each with their district’s placard hanging above their heads, all arguing about the situation at the Savi harbor. On the small platform at the end of the room sat Perthran Bizevron, the district provider and headman. Beside him sat Rhanes, the boy she had come to love so much. Letti could not help but smile as her lover angled his beautiful face in her direction.
Headman Bizevron signaled for silence and the chamber promptly hushed. He settled back into his seat, the room seemingly at peace. Such a stark contrast to the chaotic city surrounding them. The quiet of the room was suffocating even from Letti’s air vent as the headman took a few moments to look directly at each and every one of his councilmen. With a face of stone he said at last, “Councilman Chabares, would you mind explaining why the majority of your officers were sitting on their asses during the revolt at Najabi Harbor today?”
All of the councilmen whipped their heads in the direction of Chabares, the old man blinking rapidly at Bizevron.
“Speak so we can move on,” the headman said.
“The attack on Najabi Harbor was a mess.”
Bizevron raised his brows. “You can say more than that,” he said by way of encouragement. “Your officers didn’t do shit. I expect payment.”
Everyone in the room straightened, for reasons Lettilan didn’t understand. She pressed her face against the vent, as if she could absorb their thoughts by being nearer.
Councilman Chabares clenched his jaw, his frown tightening from the motion. He stood as he said, “Then payment you shall receive.”
“A wise decision.” Bizevron motioned to a nearby officer. “Probably the best you’ve had so far, Councilman.”

Two people meet in spite of time.
I couldn’t hear my footsteps over the sound of subway cars clattering down the tracks beside me, but I walked with the rhythm of my heart anyway. I could feel it pounding in my chest. One, two, one, two, one step, two steps, one step, two steps.
The train disappeared down the tunnel, and I hurried past my former fellow passengers towards the stairs and up into the light. The sun was on it’s way down and we passed each other as I marched steadily forward to my destination.
I was looking for a particular address. There was a girl who said she would be waiting for me, and so I walked onward. Heart pounding. Feet matching it’s beat. Fingers beginning to tap the same notes against my thigh.
The last time we met, she told me she liked my hair. And my smile. I’d smiled for her and said that I liked the way she walked. Like she owned the street. And the way she talked. Like she would share that street with anyone who asked her or looked as though they could use a place to stand.
She told me to meet her at three. I said I would not disappoint her.
The clock in my room is five minutes slow. It’s silver hands always running behind. I left an hour earlier than I needed to, because I would not let that fool me. She was worth the wait and not worth losing.
I found her front steps and there I waited.
One hour passed. And then another. A woman appeared at the door and I pushed my heart back down where it belonged, clearing my throat. She frowned at me curiously as she opened the door.
“Are you waiting for someone?” she asked.
“Yes,” I whispered.
And from behind the woman, the girl appeared. “I believe she’s waiting for me.”
I smiled and she stepped outside, coming down the steps as if they had been built just for her.
“The clock in my room is an hour behind. I keep forgetting to change it,” she said. “I hope you haven’t been waiting long.”
“Not at all,” I said, as she joined me on the street in the fading light. “I haven’t changed mine either.”

Do you have any tips on how to make a character seem untrustworthy to the reader, but not to the surrounding characters without the character being creepy or shifty??
Yes, and it takes some clever (fun) writing to do it too. I answered an ask like this before here about a character who’s a liar, but there are many other ways to make someone untrustworthy to the reader.
they spread gossip
they can’t keep a secret
they steal, perhaps blatantly and with a smile
they’re incredibly charming and smarmy
there’s often an ulterior motive to their actions
they get up to no-good behind closed doors
they pit different characters against each other
…and on, and on. For all these characteristics, write it so that only the reader sees them doing it. Whether you’re in a POV where you can describe their mindset and inner thoughts, or in 1st Person POV, you can show that a character is not trustworthy.
In 1st POV, your MC can always dismiss, overlook, or excuse certain “shifty” behavior because that’s what we do constantly in real life. The reader, however, if they’re observant, will see that the MC is being played or is blind to the actions of the untrustworthy character. As long as they can understand the MC’s reasons for missing these cues, they can forgive the MC.
Avoiding “creepy/shifty” and the giggling trickster archetype is primarily up to your own finesse as a writer. Leave in just enough shiftiness in their behavior, but not in their personality. Outwardly, they can seem to be an upright gentleperson, an apologetic klutz, or really any personality you want to give them. But when the reader’s the only one to see them, their less endearing side will be on display.

i dont know how to use tumblr this makes me happy though??
cliché romantic tropes i refuse to stop writing
pretending they hate each other to cover up feelings for one another
thinking they hate each other but they actually have feelings for one another
being super tough and cool but stuttering and blushing around each other
introducing their love interest to someone else but not knowing their status so they just call them “my [their name]”
pretending to date to prank their friends and then actually dating
anything that goes from best friends to lovers
total gender role reversal in het relationships
accidental “i love you”s
dating in secret because they don’t want to admit their friends were right about them liking each other
a friend group being like “lmao what if they dated” and them ending up together
you know what just anything involving mutual friends being obnoxious about it
not realizing feelings for someone until they’re hurt/dying bc angst
everyone thinking they’re dating but they have no clue
c o n s t a n t  b i c k e r i n g
each thinking the other is out of their league
“if neither of us are married in 15 years we’ll just marry each other”
