Superman 2025 was fantastic. I enjoyed literally every moment of it. Have some Robins instead.
Once again, I could not resist the calls of sibling dynamics

Ok so this is an idea I’ve had for a longgggg time. I’ll probably write a fic or something about this somewhere down the line, but yall are also welcome to write about it as well. I’ll probably add more to this later too but I’m just gonna post this for now :
So during the whole “Bruce lost in time” shenanigans and shit, Tim starts get annoyed at Ra’s for being hella creepy and shit and decides to challenge him to a duel. Except because everyone is a dramatic bitch, Ra’s is like “If I win, I get to use your body as my new vessel” and Tim is all like “If I win, I get to take all of your titles and resources”. And what Tim means is that Tim would get to control the LoA. Somehow Tim miraculously wins and Ra’s ends up dying. So Tim is like “well guess I’m the new Demon Head :D” but then Talia comes in and is all like “yes, father, you are.” And now Tim is like “ermmm tf did you just call me?” And Talia is like “The terms of your duel stated that should you win, you would receive all of Ra’s titles, including his title as my father and Damian’s grandfather. Seeing as you won, I shall address you by your correct title, Father.”
Tim doesn’t know whether Talia is fucking with him or not (she 100% is), but he’s 17, he’s trying to find Bruce, he just fucking killed Ra’s al Ghul, and now he might be a father (and a grandfather as well?). Tim wants to cry. He wants to crash out. He wants to go home and have Dick deal with all this bullshit for him. He wants to quit everything he’s doing and move to a secluded cabin on in the middle of nowhere. He wants a nap. He gets none of those things. Instead, he finds himself signing legal documents to officially make him Talia’s father.
Meanwhile, Talia is in the corner thinking “this is actually kinda funny” only for Tim to actually start trying to parent her. The worst part? He’s kind of good at it. He’s no Ra’s, and Talia has spent a lot of time being brainwashed and abused by her father, but somehow Tim manages to slip past her defenses and slowly starts making progress. He buys her gifts, reads her stories, tucks her into bed, and tries to give her positive reinforcement for the (albeit rare) acts of kindness that she does. He starts to grow on her, not that she’d ever admit it.
By the time they find Bruce, they have some weird sort of codependent relationship going on. Bruce doesn’t notice it at first, but it becomes apparent as they make their way to Gotham. They have no idea how they’re going to explain this, but “I became her father by conquest” probably won’t cut it.

Dick: i remember when i was a kid, and Bruce had just taken me in while trying to track down the guy who killed my parents.
Dick: he knew i needed the closure of bringing him to justice so he had to train me up pretty quick.
Jason: yeah you were allowed out almost immediately, but when he took me in i had to go through like, a massive training course until i was even allowed out on patrol. even longer until i was allowed to actively engage with criminals.
Dick: yeah he was wary with you; to be fair i got punched a LOT in those early days
Jason: a lot of damage to the head would make sense for you, honestly
Dick: oi-
Tim: i mean i did have training, but it was kinda moot because i was active as Robin throughout the whole thing anyway. i just showed up completely unprepared and wouldn’t leave B alone.
Jason: it is interesting how different all our experiences were with Bruce’s training.
Dick: *hums*
Tim: yeah
Damian:
Damian: i came pre-assembled.
the others:
Damian:
Damian: well i did-
Tim: like an ikea flat-pack.
Damian: like a what now
-later-
Bruce, eating lunch: what is this
Jason, holding Damian by the scruff of his neck: behold, a SJÖRAPPORT
Bruce, so tired: …ok. sure.

You know how the Robins were trained to be able to fight enemies way bigger than them, since they started really young and also were taught by Batman (a Very Big Guy)?
It just occured to me that the reverse is also true: Batman is very good at fighting very short enemies.
I wonder if it ever came up.
Like if someone was trying to use their smaller size to their advantage and surprise Batman but it's just. Impossible. There is no move his little hypercompetent gremlins didn't already try against him.

AU idea: Tim, tired of all the misunderstandings in the batfam, resorts to magic.
The misunderstandings:
Jason thinking he's been replaced
Damian feeling that he has to earn his place in the family
So many of the batkids feeling unsure of their place in the family
Dick never reaching out about his own issues until it blows up on him
Bruce putting his foot in his mouth and rarely verbally affirming his love
Cass's overwhelming guilt and physical distance from the family
Alfred's passiveness/professionalism/perceived neutrality
The timeline is after Damian joins, but before Duke does. We'll say the BruceQuest really made Tim face how shitty their communication is and the need to fix it.
So, Tim contacts Constantine about setting up pack/coven bonds for the family (Bruce, Jason, Dick, Damian, Alfred, and Tim). This links their emotions together and allows them to monitor each other's physical states.
At the beginning, it's sudden and overwhelming. Only Tim, who was prepared, is able to immediately shield his bond.
If he had a choice, he wouldn't have even included himself in the bond (he's a hypocrite). He needed to be in the bond for it to work. In fact, since he was the one to start it, he's the coven/pack leader. He can add people and remove them at will.
The bond causes many many many fights and arguments. It's basically a huge blowup as the family learns to adjust to their new status and try to figure out what happened. Tim, obviously, does not tell them.
The family can tell that Tim is in the bond, but his emotions are constantly shielded. This does cause misunderstandings.
Eventually, the bonds become used as Tim intended: a way to express and communicate. It even allows them to soothe and comfort each other.
It's mostly a success... Except for Tim, the hypocrite, distancing himself. While he watches everyone else bond and get along, he allows the misconception that he's not as affected or doesn't feel as much as the others.

I'd add: Dick found Tim annoying initially. (You know, because kid you don't know talking about deeply personal things. And Marv Wolfman can't write kids other than Lian.) But by the end, with some deduction skills, some genuine concern, and just a touch of boyish charm, Tim convinced his future brother that Robin was still alive
Oh, for freaking sure.
Dick found Tim to be a pain in the butt at first, and I can’t even blame him given how Tim was going about at the time.
Tumblr media
Like Tim’s lack of social knowledge is on full freaking display here. He’s trying to find evidence in the trash, before running away like an acrobatic chimp, and then freaking tries to dang hip toss Dick over his shoulders before he even realizes it’s him, only to then to tell Dick about his theory on a murder case.
Someone freaking tell this kid how the world works, because boarding school clearly isn’t trying, and he’s not doing this crap out of malice. This tot just has no idea what the heck he’s doing, and was sheltered way too freaking much for his own good.
And on top of that, Dick that day was angsting and being sad over the potential closure of his childhood circus. So all that was happening before later that same day, where before he can even process that he nearly got arm dragged by a kid that’s clearly one to still wear underoos, he has to deal with a freaking murder theory from him. And later learns that this 7 year old looking little kid that’s apparently actually twelve thirteen knows his and his mentor’s secret super hero identities. Which are secrets even the freaking police couldn’t crack for well over a decade by then.
Tim was genuinely really freaking lucky he’s cute, a good detective, and was there for a genuinely heart felt reason, or else he would’ve got tossed in the trash and had the lid put over him. And I wouldn’t even blame Dick honestly.
Tumblr media
Tim’s also real lucky he wasn’t insensitive about Jason Todd’s death (besides the obvious mentions about it), and actually was hoping to help out by asking Dick to be Robin again to calm down Batman before Batman went on a murder rampage. Even if Tim did have moments where his naivete and lack of awareness did lead to some brief moments where he did do the wrong thing–
Tumblr media
But ultimately they knew he meant well and didn’t know any better.
Or else he would’ve just ended up like this kid.
Tumblr media
(For context, this kid was actually super insensitive to Jason’s death, which Dick had literally found out literal seconds ago, and just said things like “It isn’t a big deal, anyhow” and “we knew the job was dangerous we took it”. It isn’t like– Dick just goes around abusing the crap out of children or something. Just a comic’s intense version of melodrama.)
(Although I think Marv actually wrote Tim pretty well (well, of course he did, Marv Wolfman freaking created Tim, but in the context of writing a kid). You can definitely tell he’s a little kid with a social awareness problem, that’s too obsessed with his interests. Even if a few lines of dialogue seemed a little too adult detective for a thirteen year old kid at a point or two.)
