like that sounds intuitive and vague but so much of the day is spent in a period of wait and if you struggle to motivate yourself to do things then this is the best time

waiting for your water to boil? bag up your garbage. waiting for your coffee to drip? wipe down your counters. roommate taking up the bathroom? scoop the cat box. waiting for your food to cook in the microwave? do however many dishes you can while it’s in there. 

waiting is the perfect time to do a limited amount of something for yourself where you would be otherwise just standing around doing fuck-all

I need someone to write a TOS Spirk fic where they’re in the midst of their five year mission and not in a relationship. But at some point the Enterprise stops to pick up a group of people to transport them to a different colony or whatever, and in that groups is an ex of Kirk’s who never really got over him. So she sees the relationship Spock and Kirk has and becomes really jealous of their whole dynamic and how she’ll be talking to Jim only for him to lose concentration when Spock walks into the room or something. So she starts trying to pick up on Spock’s habits and mannerisms to gain Kirk’s attention in the same way one girl copies another’s hairstyles, and Spock is completely oblivious to what she’s doing and why she’s doing it, which only leaves her incredibly frustrated to the fact that A) Jim ends up mostly just confused by her change in behavior and B) Spock has no ability to see or assess this mean girl game she’s trying to play with him.

And of course, Spirk gets together in the end.

it's been a year. a lot has changed.

the academic

"any fool can know; the point is to understand," says albert einstein. you are constantly seeking the secret of the world. your pen is on paper, your head is in a book, your life is on the line if your knowledge hasn't been sharpened to the finest point. your studies are on the level of being compulsive in nature. it feels wrong to pull a pen away from paper, as if the words on the page are incomplete, or the paragraphs are too short, so you must keep writing words to bring sense to it. one day, the pages will run out and you will be left alone, knowing everything and having nothing. the urge will come to start a new book. the urge will come to lose your mind to find knowledge. your painting is "studying" by maren jeskanen.
