There is not enough discussion about Ava's chronic pain. Like. She spent most of her life phasing in and out, something she admitted causes her constant pain. And she still phases, so she still suffers. Maybe not as much as before, but still.

Anyways just. Ava and chronic pain. The other Thunderbolts helping his they can. Like Bob cooking for her (I headcannon he gets really into it, as a distraction). Yelena lets her pet her guinea pig. John gives whatever tips he can (because he has pains from old war wounds). Bucky sits in silence with her, not quite knowing her pain fully, but getting it because he also has chronic pain. Alexie not quite understanding why Ava randomly gets snappy and hides away in her room (bad pain days) until Bob carefully explains it, after which Alexie tries to help by getting her painkillers and heat packs and whatever he can. It doesn't always help. But at least they're all trying. And it makes Ava feel less alone

Thunderbolts* headcanons

• Yelena, who keeps her door unlocked at night only in case Bob needs her

• Walker, who always takes advantage of “buy one, get two free” sales at the health food store because they sell the protein bars he likes

• Bob, who has trouble remembering to use his contacts consistently so he’s resorted to wearing his glasses again

• Bucky, who noticed Ava missed dinner with the team again, so he sets aside a Tupperware full of leftovers with her name on it in the fridge

• Ava, who deals with constant hot and cold flashes due to her molecular shifting

• Alexei, who once left Valentina seventeen voicemails in a row about expanding their brand deals and never realizing he was blocked after the second try (he still doesn’t know to this day)

• Yelena, who listens to true crime podcasts while working out, cooking and grocery shopping (she outsmarts the perpetrator in every episode)

• Walker, who gets ragebaited by Bob at least three times a week

• Bob, who tells everyone about his Duolingo streak every week with the biggest smile on his face (it’s all about the little wins)

• Bucky, who has studied Alexei’s usual daily routine in order to avoid him as much as possible—the reoccurring topic of super soldier serum is actually driving him insane

• Ava, who uses the tower’s fitness and pool center religiously

• Alexei, who spams Yelena with ai fruit cutting videos on instagram reels (everyone blames Bob for setting up Alexei’s social media accounts)

Not even joking when I say the MCU needs a James Gunn rn💀 (I know they regret firing him).

Like genuinely get Kevin Feige out of Marvel immediately and with Doomsday coming up I'm extremely iffy with the Russos brothers directing it because it will be a big hit or miss (but I'm not really one for having high expectations anyways.)

In conclusion: happy for DC fans because they've gotten great content in recent years and will most likely keep getting good ones but also very very sad to be both Black and queer loving the MCU because of their horrible track record of treating their poc/women characters poorly and removing or diluting possible queer storylines/characters.

Sambucky headcanons #2

- Bucky bought Sam a ‘Kiss the Chef’ apron as an ironic gift on Valentine’s Day. Subsequently, Sam has worn it every time he cooks.

- Sam pushes himself too much. Even now, even when he’s proved himself multiple times to be Captain America, the pressure of living up to this reputation of perfectionism haunts him. And that causes him to over exert himself. He becomes dizzy sometimes after training, and has passed out on several occasions. He shows up with bruises, cuts and scrapes to every mission. And the mental strain causes him to lash out at others, including Joaquin. But Bucky always finds him. Implores him to stop. Relays the words of encouragement Sam constantly offers to him, and silently wonders why he won’t take his own words seriously. Nine times out of ten, Sam relents. He’ll go lie down, or drink something, or simply break down in tears. Bucky will hold him until the sobbing stops, until he’s ready to talk.

- Bucky hates his birthdays. Not because of that fact that he’s getting older; in truth, his age is inconsequential to him now. But he can’t help but think of all the ones he’s missed, how that happiness was stripped from him. How he had to search through old files to find out his exact birthdate after he became free of Hydra’s brainwashing. And the memories of the ones he had celebrated all involved Steve in some capacity or another, so they’re all tainted now that he’s gone. Bucky’ll show up for everyone else’s and join in with the fun, but he’ll never bring the same energy to his own. Sam recognises this. He’ll never push, never prod, never ask. But he’ll always buy a small present. Nothing substantial, yet still somehow meaningful. It isn’t pressure, it’s presence. And Bucky finds himself feeling grateful every time.

- Sam insists that they do movie night once a week. He claims it’s so that Bucky can ‘catch up with the last 90 years of pop culture’. And he does. Sam introduces Bucky to some of his favourite films, and has developed the horrible habit of pausing the movies to info dump about behind the scenes facts and stories (which irks Bucky, but he listens intently all the same.) Sam’ll make popcorn and they’ll sit intertwined on the couch until either one falls asleep with their head resting against the other’s shoulder.

- They bicker like little kids over the thermostat. Sam’s always run a little hot and so prefers the air to be chilly of a night time, and Bucky can’t stand the cold (being in cryogenically frozen can do that to a guy.)

I just saw someone say "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" as an argument for boycotting AO3

Babe AO3 is a nonprofit. They do not exist under the ethics of capitalism. Fanfiction is legal because no money is ever exchanged around it. (All the money given to AO3 is used to maintain their servers and pay their lawyers to help keep fanfiction legal.)

Fanfiction is one of the few things in this world - probably the one singular form of entertainment that does not exist within the confines of capitalism. So by your own logic, even if you hate some of the content on AO3, it's inherently the only ethical thing to consume in the whole world.

I just think people write out of obligation too often.

"How do I motivate myself to write through the boring part of my story?"

"How do I make this boring scene not boring?"

Don't write it.

Don't write boring things just because you think the structure of the story demands it. I promise it doesn't need to be there.

If your characters need to have gone shopping for a later part of the story to make sense you can just have a sentence about how they went shopping and move on.

You are not obligated to write the boring parts. No matter what those parts are.

You are not obligated to make the parts of your story that you're not excited to write interesting somehow.

You can just write the fun and interesting parts and gloss over and summarize boring things.

Your audience will thank you and you will thank yourself.
