FIRST 12 HOURS...

First signs of infection began on December 31st. Within the first 12 hours multiple cases were reported in most third world countries Africa was seemingly affected the worse. England, Madagascar, and New Zealand locked themselves off from the mainlands. Japan shows minimal signs of infection, and begin the search for a cure. Russia follows in Japans pursuit for a cure. There is no confirmed origin location for the infection. Several focal points have been found. Rumors strongly suggest Africa, South America, and China as the origins.

72 HOURS...

Japan begins to show larger signs of infection. Africa has all but been lost. Canada starts to show first signs of infection. The President of the United States along with his family are moved into an undisclosed location. The United States shut down their borders. Australia closes itself off from the world. Several countries prepare for worst case scenarios, including the potential for a nuclear solution.

ONE WEEK...

The President along with his family have been infected. The Vice President is enacted as the President of the United States. Within 3 days the Vice President is bitten and infected. The CDC is failing in all efforts to find a cure. Japan has gone dark, along with the South Africa, South Korea, South America, Madagascar, and New Zealand.

TWO WEEKS...

Western Europe is starting to show signs of large number of infected. The United States has shown heavy signs of infection in the more populated states such as New York, California, and so on. Russia shows signs of falling. The barricades in the underground tunnels to england fail, hordes of infected rampage the U.K..

THREE WEEKS...

A majority of safe zones across the united states have fallen. Most major countries have fallen pray to the virus. The United States have fallen into a state of martial law. Europe has seen heavy casualties, no words have been heard from them in over 8 hours. The CDC still moves to find a cure. The world has gone dark, any signs of life are minimal at best.

THE TROJANS

The Trojans we’re formed by several members of the USC student body and faculty. When the pandemic started to hit campus a few students knew that they needed to take shelter. Finding the sturdiest dorm on campus they quickly worked to seal off the building. Keeping the infected out, and only going out for supplies when necessary. Thankfully early on in the outbreak they were able to raid the dining halls as well as the student medical center, gathering whatever supplies they could. The age range will be 18 and up, as these members will most likely be anyone whom was either attending or working at the college.

THE IN-CROWD

When the outbreak began and people started eating other people, the inmates of the local prison were released and the staff fled. However this was not the case for everyone, in fact a few decided to remain. Locking down the prison in order to keep anyone else from getting in. They have taken in a few strays here and there while searching for supplies. The age range will vary for this group.

THE MALLRATS

The mallrats were formed by shoppers and employees of the galleria mall. In the early hours of the malls opening a security guard began locking down the doors as he heard rumors about several freak incidents of cannibalism throughout the area. Thankfully all doors have been locked keeping out the infected, though just as a precaution the first floor has been blocked off altogether. This group has a vast amount of supplies, which lessens the need to leave the building. The age range for this group will be early 20’s as many of those who stayed in the mall will most likely either be employees and some shoppers.

THE MARTIES

Welcome to wally world, one of the largest Walmart's in the Los Angeles area. This store was in the middle of a massive outbreak as it was right next to one of the first safe zones to fall. Thanks to the quick thinking of the store manager they were able to lock down the store and keep out any looters who might be trying to steal from them. The infected still surround this building, but due to the massively thick walls and the metal gates that protect the doors they are safe for now. The age range for this group is fairly open.

THE TOURISTS

The tourists are anyone who have just arrived in town or have been surviving on their own for the past four weeks. Meaning that anyone who has not already aligned themselves with one specific group just yet will be put here. This faction has the largest possible age range.

THE 1%

Hidden away in their luxury skyline tower, the massive gates guarding their doors from the commoners. This is the home to the elite of Los Angeles, and perhaps the country. To be a resident of this fine building well let’s just say you need to be massively rich, or at least have a sugar daddy. Thanks to a few of the staff members they were able to make sure the gates stayed sealed. Only downside is the elevator isn’t quite working, so have fun with the stairs. The age range for this group can be any anywhere, just as long as they had a reason for being in the skyline prior to the outbreak whether that be a resident or staff member.

this is going to sound dumb but I was reading over all the information and I love what you did with the zombies. But on the topic of the smell of blood, and triggering zombies - what happens to women on their period? Also, with hunting would it be safe to eat the animal after cooking it and letting it rest for an hour because the virus dies after an hour in air?

Well these definitely are some interesting questions, and I'm not really sure what to say in response to the first one. I guess yes it could be somewhat dangerous once a month for women. In terms of animals being cooked and left out to air, yes so long as it's cooked and left out for an hour the infection will have died out. However we are also in the city so there most likely won't be too much wildlife in play at this time, though who knows, anything could happen!

We will be doing a first come first serve in terms of face claims. Originally we wanted to do a competition, but between now and our opening date doesn't seem like enough time to hold one.

In the world of run boy run there happens to be a nasty little virus spreading around like wild fire. and since you are looking to join this site it is best to know the details of this virus! and here is exactly where you can do that. we not only recommend that all players read through this information, but we demand it.

ORIGIN...

There is not a lot of information known about the infected. The origin location and theories range wide and far. Ideas such as contaminated tuna fish sandwich’s from a convenient store, to an act of biological warfare. No one knows the truth, and for the time only guesses can be made. What is known about the infected is how you can get infected, and the characteristics of those poor souls that have been infected.

METHODS OF INFECTION...

The virus can be transmitted from the transaction of bodily fluids, whether this is blood, saliva, or so on. Meaning that if their blood mixes with an open wound, or gets in your mouth you have most likely been infected and will start to show symptoms within the half hour. However the most common form of infection is through a direct bite or scratch from an infected. While bodily fluid can lead to infection, if the fluid has been outside of an active host for more than an hour, the virus will die and is no longer able to reproduce and spread further. On another note animals do not seem to be affected by the virus, but they can still carry the virus. This means that hunting should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.

INFECTION TRAITS...

The infected show a large array of characteristics that should be noted! While these can be both strengths and weaknesses, don't let some of their downfalls fool you. These individuals are highly dangerous, and should be treated with extreme caution.

Decreased Sight: During the transformation the individuals who are infected suffer a massive fever which will lead to the rapid inflammation of the optic nerves. This inflammation causes a rapid loss of sight, and in some cases ultimately leaving the individual blind. While this is not the case for every infected, the majority do have some trouble in this field.

Increased Hearing & Sense of Smell: Due to their lack of sight it seems the infected hunt by relying on their other senses. They are drawn to sound, and while in most cases loud noise will only cause slight irritation, the louder the noise, the more aggressive they become. What really drives these creatures wild is the smell of blood; even the smallest amount can whip the infected into a ravenous frenzy. It is highly recommended that you stay as quiet as possible, and try to hide or mask your scent whenever possible.

Infected Speed: While the infected are often seen moving in a slow pace, it should be noted that they have a range of speeds. When in their relaxed state of mind they often will move slowly, without purpose or real sense of direction. When agitated they move slightly quicker, almost at a brisk walk or jog depending on the level of activity they are sensing around them. When fully active they can move at a full sprint. While not exactly matching that of someone in their peak physical prime, these infected can certainly keep up with the best of them.  The infected can keep up this heightened level of activity for hours if necessary, only slowing once they have fed or if the stimulation of their senses comes to a stop. hibernation: after approximately 10 days without a new source of food - human or animal - the infected will go into a state of hibernation where their movement slows or in some cases comes to a complete stop. They will remain like this, often only moving in violent twitching motions every few minutes or hours. However they can and will come out of this state of hibernation as soon as a stimulus such as a loud noise or the smell of blood crosses their path.

INFECTION TIME TABLES...

the exact time span for a person to turn is not an exact science. Often it will depend on the individuals health and stamina, it can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. What is certain is that within that time frame the individual who is infected will transition from a living person to a walking corpse. 1-3 minutes after contamination: This is the time you have to remove whatever part was bitten. Such as if the body part that was bitten or scratched was a hand or a foot. It is still a guessing game whether or not you will turn but if you do this quick enough you might have been saved. 3 - 15 minutes after contamination: First signs of infection will begin during this time. After 10 minutes from the time that you cut off the appendage you are most likely safe. First symptoms of infection include loss of bodily control, this will often occur in the form of spasms, seizures, and convulsing. Near the end of this time the infected individual will have a majority of their bodily control. Body temperature will begin to rise slowly at first, and then rapidly picking up, nearing 105*. It is during this stage of infection that inflammation of the optic nerve will begin to cause blindness.

15-30 minutes after contamination: The heart rate of the infected individual will start to rise next, during this time the major organs begin to fail. The last organs to go are the brain, heart, and lungs. The lungs will begin to fill with fluid, much like in cases of pneumonia. Finally the victim will suffocate rapidly as they drown in their own bodily fluid. In some cases more time can be bought by turning the infected individual on their side as to help keep the flooding of their lungs at a minimal. Nearing the end of this stage the individuals will ultimately die, their body becoming rigid and eyes glazing over with a sickly yellow hue as the last signs of life leave the individuals body. 30 minutes after contamination: After seemingly dying, they will awaken with a jolt. This can happen anywhere between 10 seconds to a minute after the infected individuals death. When the infected comes back they will often be seen twitching or grasping out for something to latch onto. Within minutes if not seconds of awakening the infected will begin looking for a source of food, biting at anything they can get their hands on.
