White Nights (1848)

Dostoevsky is a master at potraying man soul in a character.
I think the concept of this short story was ahead of it's time back when it was first published. The potray of narrator emotional wellbeing and how he felt lonely as well as despair regarding his self captured very well by Fyodor Dostoevsky writtings.
Honestly i recommend everyone to read this!

The Streltsy were a moscow regiment whom served themselves for the royal and the kingdom.
On 1698 a revolt between The Streltsy regiment and the royal of Naryashkin family happened ( Peter The Great mother's family). During the revolet, boyars and Naryashkin royals presecuted, killed, and torn into pieces.
Some stories said that this revolt was initially spreaded by a rumour whom sponsored by the Miloslavsky Family ( a famillies from Alexis Michaelovich first wife. A step mother of Peter The Great). In this cases, Ivan Miloslasvsky and Sophia, the half sister of Peter The Great, believed to be the conspirator who spreading rumour; that Naryashkin and The Boyar killed King Feodor III by poisoning and were having an ambition toward the throne. The Streltsythen as the defendant of old system, the royals, and kingdom feel betrayed and spread the anger by killing the boyars and Naryaskhin.
However, the roots of this revolt believed caused by the power contestation between the Miloslasvsky family and Narsyahkin family.
After this revolt, Peter The Great became a tsar with his half brother from Miloslavsky descendant, Ivan V. But unfortunately, Ivan V was quite ill, having a bad sight and having difficulty in speech. Я шагаю по Москве (1964)
Я шагаю по Москве (1964) Dir. Georgiy Daneliya
In order to makes my self get used to Russian prounication and language, lately i’ve been trying to watch several movies from russia. however, I find it rather difficult for me to find my favourite piece of movie, either the plot are too slow, uninteresting in term of theme, i mostly dropped the movie before the first 60 minutes.
Hence, my finished Russian Movies curently only Russkiy Khovcek (Russian Ark), The Barber of Siberia, and Chekist. but, thanks god this week i found Я шагаю по Москве (1964) Directed by Georgiy Daneliya.. Perhaps this is so far the best and fresh USSR Movie that i have been watched. Following a one day plot of walking arround in moscow, this is the kind of movie that i have been trying to search all these time.
This movie giving me the Midnight in Paris and Before Sunrise vibe but in a comedy way. fresh jokes and a simple well craved character, and it’s interesting music score, giving us the most spirited way to see Moscow in the time of 60s with all of it’s vibrant and dynamics force. I feel transported into the movie right away in the first 10 minutes.
if there’s a phrases of “ to be on paris inthe rain”, then for me this movie giving me some new idea of phrases about moscow:
“to be in moscow in it’s rain, sunny, night, and vibrant day
my favourite movie so far in Russian language!
ps: I REALLY LOVEE the moscow train station scene at the end!! the songs and the ambience, feels way too good to be true.
