“He’s twenty-six,” she said, as if that disputed it. “You’re right, I should at least keep my voice down.”

“I’ll do that. Or I’ll start rapping one of Creature oppa’s parts and say it was more challenging or something.”

“Please do,” Hyemi pleaded her, “that would be the most amazing thing.”

“Good luck trying to do any choreography in stilts,” she laughed, though she knew Donny wouldn’t be the one wearing them in this situation.

Matty’s eyes narrowed. Of course, what the woman was saying wasn’t wrong, but she could feel the patronizing and she was not impressed. Nova was in a different situation than Juno– none of them were adept enough at composing or producing, and most of them were foreign, so writing lyrics was an uphill battle. They didn’t have the luxury of having a former Unpretty winner to write everything for them. They were stuck waiting for DS to throw them a bone. “I know. And it’s not that that I’m frustrated about. I’m frustrated because DS is putting more resources into creating stuff for when Unity comes to promote with DS than into taking care of their own groups. Excuse me for being frustrated, but you would be too if you’d been shelved for more than a year.”

“It seems like everyone needs to learn how to manage a group,” Hyemi said under her breath. Sometimes it seemed like she was the only staff member in the industry who wanted to see artists actually promote. The decision for Juno to get a variety show in the midst of being painted as the forgotten rookie group made little sense to Hyemi, but she tried not to judge how other companies operated. She failed more often than not, but at least she managed to keep her thoughts to herself for the most part. “Didn’t Mercury get shelved too? They had to produce themselves, but luckily for them most of those girls already had some amount of experience in making music,” she shook her head, “I miss seeing Nova promote, I’m not gonna lie.”
