Riley kept scrolling through her phone but perked when she heard her friend, a grin forming on her face in return. She got up, starting their little journey to the coffee shop as she gently motioned Lucy to follow, it not being a far stroll at all. "Driftwood, of course." She said, skipping a bit with a sudden burst of energy. "it's my favorite place to play on my laptop while I'm drinking a mocha." She said and giggled.

Soon, the small shop was able to be seen and Riley quickly jogged to the door and let her friend go in first. "And it's the perfect time to get some too, since.. there's not many people." She said with a sweet smile.

with her books purchased and tucked away in her bad, lucy was free to spend the afternoon with the re-united friend. riley was one of the few people in the younger years that didn't see lucy as an odity, or didnt' be around her as she wasn't as social as they. lucy hoped now she could repay the kindness shown her way as an adult. one coffee catch up, or movie outing, or general hang out at a time. stepping out the pathway outside of the store, the blonde searches for riley, offering a warm grin in her direction. "any ideas on where you'd like to have coffee?"

"I tell her that all the time.. that he clearly isn't your type." Riley snorted as she sucked the spoon softly as she pondered a bit. "I can understand needing to be reassured, I had to be reassured quite a bit, but that's because I always ended up hurt doing something stupid and then asking them if they still liked me even if I'm reckless." She rambled. She hated that she used to be that bad, but she grew out of needing to be reassured so much. Darcy would eventually grow out of it too, maybe? Who knew.

"Ah.. the shit sequels..." Riley began and cringed. "Okay.. there are some Disney movies I can not watch and it's most of those. Half of them don't even look good to the eyes- let alone.. even have a good story.." She muttered. "So yeah, no we don't watch them. I tell Darcy N-O- No."

"Yeah, I don't know why she thinks I'd even let him steal me. One, we're kinda similar in a lot of ways and I don't necessarily want to date myself? I'm not at that level of narcissism. And, two, he's not my type." Evie waved her hand dismissively. "Ah, but it's not that big a deal." Was it tiring? Sometimes, yeah. But Evie was willing to reassure Darcy she wasn't going anywhere until she didn't need that reassurance any longer.

"That's good. At least things are going back to kinda normal for y'all. Siblings gotta stick together, yeah?" Part of her was jealous that her friends all had siblings. She wasn't fond of being an only child, but she had to remind herself that, whenever her jealousy spiked, her parents procreating more than once would have been... Not great. "I bet all you guys watched were the shitty sequels. The ones that were straight to DVD. You know a movie's terrible when it skips the theaters."

"Nice to meet you too." Riley mused as she put her hands in her pockets as they walked. She pondered, spacing off just a little, for she didn't even think to introduce herself before she realized and looked at Lorna. "Oh- Shit, Riley. I'm Riley." She said with a soft snort. "Sorry, I spaced out a bit."

Once they made it to the cafe, she opened the door for Lorna and cocked a brow with a little grin. "You first." She cooed. She was always goofy even when meeting new people. It was one of her best traits after all. "I love this little cafe. I come to it all the time."

Lorna chuckled along, as she listened to the other. "Now that I can believe," she said, humorously. Still grateful that the woman had survived and left their initial encounter unscathed. Gesturing towards the door that led to the cafe, she allowed her to walk first before she trailed behind. "I'm Lorna, by the way. Her lips curved upwards into a light smile. "Nice to meet you, miss."

Riley was confused if the woman was serious about Riley’s horrible acting actually being good, but she went with it. “Thank you. I’m just an ultimate master of acting.” She mused before shaking her head at her stupid comment. Her eyes then went to the woman and smiled at her offer. “I guess I can’t say no to someone offering a free drink.” She began as she nodded. “Alright sure, let’s go then.”

Lorna became worried at first, wondering how hurt the woman was. Her hands immediately reached out to catch and assist her, but was taken aback by her sudden admission. "Oh... oh, it's fine!" She laughed it off, just grateful that she was actually in no real pain. The last thing she wanted was to cause injury to someone in such a serene place. "You're a good actress. You almost had me." She definitely had her there. "Are you sure? Honestly, I was going to head to the cafe anyway. You should let me buy you a drink."

“She mentioned her freak out about your coworker stealing you and I made it known multiple times that she needs to calm down and know that won’t happen.” Riley said with a sigh. Riley then snorted. “Hey, It’s cold. Just to let you know.” She teased at her friend that was suffering from the horrific brain freeze.

Riley then paused from Evie’s question, for it kind of took Riley back a bit. “Well, at first it was rather awkward but.. I think we’re on terms of close sisters again which is good.” She rambled. “We binged some Disney together too like we used too. So that’s a plus.”

Evie strolled over to the table Riley had motioned to, a little bounce to her step, a grin plastered on her face as she sat, tucking both feet under her bum before digging into the sugary goodness offered to her. A bit too quickly because gah! Brain freeze!! "Mmm ow ow owowowowow," she hissed, squeezing her eyes shut as she shook off the icy pain until it subsided. "Staying home, watching Dreamworks with a bottle of vodka for me usually. But dating your sister has been pretty good. You know, when she's not freaking out about me apparently wanting to leave her for my co-worker. Which, I don't, just to clarify. "Are things okay now? Between you two, I mean."

“Trust me, I’m so.. ecstatic that you get me.” Riley said, grinning at the man. She never really thought about a lot of things in a.. smart way. But she thought what she was saying made sense and that was all that mattered to her anyways. And now a random stranger and her are bonding over their.. interesting thoughts.

“I mean, it makes sense!” Riley said enthusiastically. “I always thought for some reason.. that when Toy Story was made, it was hinting to little me that the toys I had were going to come after me and scare me away after I accidentally tore off the arm of a barbie doll.. and that was not fun. And I’m pretty sure my sister made fun of me, but I swore when I was little my toys stared at me like they wanted to fight me.”

"That's what I've been saying." No one listened to Silas though, despite how often he spoke nothing but truths. It was his curse to bear that his brilliance would slip by unnoticed and unappreciated.

( Or maybe he was just drunk enough to sincerely believe he was some sort of Einstein, even when couldn't spell Einstein without consulting google. )

"See how you just get it though? That's rare around here." Or at least it had been when he had been living in the Bay seven years prior, and he was operating on the assumption that not much changed. Aesthetically, that certainly seemed to be the case.

The legs of his chair scraped against the floor as he pulled it in closer so he could sit closer to the table, as though confidential words were about to be covertly shared.

"It's not so much a thought as it is a confession. For a good chunk of my childhood I deadass thought Toy Story was a documentary."

“Great, see you outside.” Riley mused with a grin plastered on her face before she walked out, stopping in her tracks at the front entrance to wait on her old friend. This was exciting. She missed Lucy and now they’re getting coffee? She was absolutely thrilled. She couldn’t stand still. She rocked back and forth on her heels as she hummed to herself.

Riley started to think to herself about what all they could do later down the road. Riley was obsessed with Disney, so maybe they could have a day where they binge their favorite movies? Maybe a sleep over with their favorite food WHILE binging Disney movies? Riley nodded at all of her thoughts but she didn’t want to get too ahead of herself, so she stopped there. She ended up pulling out her phone and scrolled through Instagram as she continued to wait.

where did the time go? she could of sworn yesterday the pair were both kids going about their lives without any care in the world. life had a way of allowing people to drift apart before they even realised it. as lucy catches the light building in riley's eye's in reaction to her invite for coffee, her features mirror the enthusiasm. "great!" she chirps, before looking down at the pile of books she held in her arms. "let me just pay for these, and i'll meet you outside."

Riley scowled at her sister as she was dragged inside. "Excuse me, I'm pretty sure your ass is the one that will get the kickin' bitch." She said as she giggled before she moved and wrapped her arm around Darcy's and grinned at her. "I figured we would save DDR for last." she teased. "Because I know for a fact I'll beat you at that." She cooed before looking around before looking back at her sister. "Let's just start with Mortal Kombat first."

"Riley, Riley, Riley... prepare to get your ass kicked, dear sister." Darcy laughed as she shook her head before grabbing Riley's hand and all but dragging her into the little arcade. "Okay, so! Where should we start? Mortal Kombat, or should that be saved for last?

Riley wandered around slowly since she hadn't been back at the botanical gardens ever since the festival, and she wanted to experience the beauty of the gardens once more. However, she jolted from the feeling of someone stepping on her foot before she looked at the woman's face. It didn't hurt, in fact it just startled her a little. She then acted super dramatic, hoping to get a laugh out of her. "ohh.. ouch ouch." She sighed as she pretended to fall over but then she caught herself. "I'm kidding, I'm sorry." She said, as if the horrible acting wasn't enough to show the woman she was just joking. "Me and my foot are okay- I promise. It doesn't need any coffee." She let out a soft giggle.

Flowers. Surrounded by the colorful little buds brought a joy to Lorna that was unmatched. It reminded her of the beauty that could been found in Aurora Bay, unlike in some of it's residents. She'd been admiring the Chilean bell flowers, when her feet lost communication with her spacial awareness and stepped onto another's foot. "Oh, I'm so sorry." She said, apologetically. "You know this place just makes me feel like I'm in another world... apparently my mind is actually in another world." There was a small laugh, as she attempted humor to diffuse any awkwardness. "I hope your foot's alright. I can buy it a coffee?"

"I do know that." Riley snorted a bit as she moved and paid before motioning to a seat as she sat down, eating hers rather slowly as she stared at her friend. "You're welcome." She mused as she scooped another spoonful and stuck it in her mouth before speaking. "I've been decently okay. I've just been working and then staying in my house... watching Disney with a bottle of tequila in my hand. Nothing too out there." She shrugged. "What about you? How's dating my sister going?" She joked as she swayed her feet back and forth like a kid.

"You must not know me well enough if you'd think I'd turn down free ice cream or an opportunity to mooch off of a friend's generosity. Not that I was dropping hints or anything, because I wasn't. I'd just ask outright if I was." Evie turned to the clerk with no hesitation, pointing to the pineapple upside-down cake one, holding up a single finger because she's had several free samples at that point and she wasn't going to be too greedy or anything. After taking her bowl, she turned to Riley, already shoveling the ice cream into her mouth while saying, "Thanks. Much appreciated. It always tastes better when it's free. How ya been, Rye-Rye? Haven't seen much of you in a while."

Upon hearing the news of the fire, Riley was nervous about her sister not making it. She sent multiple texts, called her and once she found out she was okay, it calmed her down. She didn't wanna lose her sister, especially after they got close once again. She then let Darcy know she was going to get her, and after that, she headed towards the apartments. Once there, she looked throughout the chaos and ended up finding Darcy, coming up to her and grabbing her wrist gently. "Darc. Hey, it's Rye... You okay?"

Riley smiled as the man spoke, her eyes on him as she sipped her drink occasionally. "I guess I just haven't had that.. connection people mention when they look at an animal. Sucks but I'd rather feel that before I adopt one." She said before perking in an intrigued manner. "I love Kiki's Delivery Service. A black cat named Jiji just fits." She mused, leaning in as a grinned pulled at her lips. "And a tuxedo cat? What is it's name?"

Kaede never held anything against other people. Life was way too short to be mad at others for just being themselves. He already escaped a pretty judge mental family and didn’t need to carry on that sort of line of thinking. “ I try to remember everyone I talk to you, but I swear it’s not because of the awkwardness of last time that I do remember you.” he added, trying to assure her that it wasn’t because of a batteries and he remembered her face. “ sometimes it helps to take time. You don’t want to end up regretting anything like that.” a pet was a huge responsibility and he himself didn’t even take it lightly, even though he already had a child to be responsible for. “ we got two, the whole idea of leaving a small kitten in my house alone was too sad. She got the black cat she kept looking at that morning and she named it Jiji from Kiki’s delivery service and then we found a tuxedo in the same litter. “ @rxleyanthony

When Lucy mentioned catching up and having coffee, Riley's eyes lit up. That is what she had been waiting on. "I always have time for that." She mused as she stepped closer, her arm nudging her friend's before motioning. "I'm done here, I'm probably not even going to get anything, so.. when you're ready we can head to Driftwood- but just warning you I'm paying for your coffee."

lucy lets a gentle bout of air fall from her lips, watching the expressions of the girls face. its funny how one day you could almost be attached at the hip to someone, then the next day the've completely vanished from your life as if they'd evaporated into thin air. lucy had wondered if she'd said or done anything wrong. or, due to the fact lucy never really spoke much, maybe it was something she didn't say. over the years, however, she learnt to not take so much to heart, that there's a multitude of reasons why people drifted apart in life. everyone had their storms to face.

the blonde nods, listening intently. "can't believe we're old enough to say we're doing 'normal adult things'.' where did all the time go? something she'd often wonder. 'i'm alive, and here', lucy had a similar view about her own life. "yeah, i guess that's all that matters at the end of the day." riley's grin is mirrored by lucy's own, while she mindlessly plays with the plastic sleeve of the book she was holding onto. "i've missed you too." a soft nods follows, "do you... maybe have time for a coffee, catch up a little?"

After a night of playfully bantering over text like the sisters they are, Riley and Darcy decided to meet each other at the Arcade to have some competitive bonding time. Riley's lips formed a smile once she saw her sister before she opened the door to let her inside the Arcade. "C'mon slow poke, I've been eager to beat you at these games all day."

Riley furrowed her brows from being called a ditz. She knew it wasn’t everything but she missed being able to hug and tell someone she loved them and possibly having a future with them. She rubbed her neck, knowing it was dumb to keep bringing it up anyways. She sounded like a high schooler who just got dumped.. She hated it. Riley ended up dropping it, there was no point to keep talking about it.

Riley then shrugged. “That’s what I’m trying to say, just go with the flow..” she motioned to him, her eyes going to the clock every now and then. She was so ready to go. “‘Cause you never know, this could be your Disney movie moment and then you’ll come to me and be like Yo Rye, you were right. And I’ll pat your shoulders and say I knew it.” She joked, trying to get him to laugh.

She then moved and gripped his shoulders, giving him a gentle shake. "I'm repeating myself, I know." She snorted, her lips forming a bigger smile. "Listen to me. Don't rush into it, of course, but wing it and see if it leads up to where you left off. I can tell by your expression you're thinking about it quite a bit." She teased a little. "And I'd loooovee to hear about some stories later down the road." Riley cooed. She knew Asher didn't know, but that didn't mean she would stop teasing him, or even help him ponder on the possibility of it all working out for him.

"You're such a ditz," Asher responds affectionately. "I never said it is everything, but... someone for everyone. Doesn't have to be romantic, does it? What if your forever person is just your best friend?" Not to confuse the idea with 'marrying your best friend' as in a partner, but his point stands. He does well to keep from spewing out what he would tell his little sisters when they were in the down and outs about boys and dating and school dances and all that annoying stuff.

Though, his expression falls into a deadpan at the idea of his and Gilly's situation being a Disney cliché of sorts. "Oh, shut up. Again. For the millionth time. I... don't care what happens." He doesn't, really. At least he thinks he doesn't. It's still weird to wrap his head around the mere possibility. "Not to say if we get up to what we used to get up to, I would be opposed, but if not - I don't know. That chapter could have ended in Arizona." The last time he'd said goodbye, after they spent the night into the early morning talking until they fell asleep.

Riley moved, her hand gently grabbing her new drink as she looked at the man, her shoulders tensing when he made the joke. She gulped before letting out a gentle laugh as her hands fidgeted with the glass. “Oh you remember me.” She snorted a bit, relaxing once she realized he wasn’t upset at her. She sipped her drink, shaking her head as she let out a soft sigh. “No, I kept over thinking and I just walked out of the shop without getting one- I want one I just dunno.” She shrugged her shoulders. She wanted an animal to greet her at home after a long day, or a bad day. She didn’t have a person to greet her so the next best thing was an animal in her eyes. “Ah.. how about your kid? Did you end up getting one or two kittens for her?” She snorted, a gentle smile forming on her face.

When Kaede took another look at the woman in front of him; it clicked why she had seemed so familiar at first. She was someone he ran into at the animal shelter when he was trying to find kittens. She was also someone who gave a rather surprising reaction to his daughter. However after the interactions he had with the person at the movie theater he knew what an actual terrible interaction was like. And the woman in front of him was actually rather nice.

“ They do. I will definitely agree to that” Kaede began as he cleaned up the mess. “The problem is, it shouldn’t have affected you, so honestly the drink is on the house “ He added, gesturing to one of his bartenders to make anything the woman wanted. “ and I swear it’s because of that guy and not because I’m trying to get you to actually like my kid “ he joked letting it known he remembered her but had a good sense of humor about it all. “ how have you been? Did you ever find a pet ?”

Riley let out a chuckle as she leaned against the wall, eyes staying on the blonde. “What’s a life? I dunno what that is.” She joked as she moved and rubbed the back of her neck. She didn’t have anything interesting going on.. so what could she say? Maybe that her sister and her are on speaking terms again. I mean, Riley had a girlfriend but said girlfriend ended up moving away, coming back and was with someone else. There's the topic of her being alone and binging Disney movies with a few shots of tequila almost every night. There was so much she could say but nothing to truly start a conversation over. She felt like she didn’t have the right to ramble about her own life, definitely not right now. Not when she hadn’t seen Lucy in such a long time.

Riley chewed the inside of her lip. She hesitated before finally speaking. “Uh, I mean I have my own place- a job, normal adult things-“ She said, nodding at her own statement like she was proud of it. “I do the same things every day- so my life is kinda.. okay? Despite the ups and downs of it- I’m alive and here.” She let out a soft exhale through her nose before flashing her typical dorky grin. “Sooo.. now that I know you’re still around we should definitely catch up more- I have missed you a lot, believe it or not.”

lucy wasn't one for holding grudges. things happened in peoples lives, and friendships drifted away, and it wouldn't be anything personal. she was the forgiving type, finding hard to find the fire of hatred within herself even with most who deserved it. it often left her being what some would call a 'doormat', easy to walk over. lucy was working on that, the whole standing up for herself thing.

lucy grins, widely. holding back the urge to squeeze her long lost friend in a hug, she tries to read riley's body language — even she looked uncertain on what to do in the moment. she decides to slowly clear some of the awkwardly long space between them, still holding the book she picked to her chest.

the blonde nods, with a soft smile. she remembers clearly the mischief of riley, and how she'd follow along — but far enough away to stay out of the dramatics. "i'm good! i'm good..." she stops herself before the urge to repeat her words again as a nervous tick leaves her mouth, "life mainly revolves around university at the moment. i come out of my shell but still manage to not have a life, what irony." hopefully a light hearted joke would help ease the awkwardness. "what about you?"
