"I was unaware I needed help in that department," this whole pirate shtick had served him well, it was not only his blood, but his life; the brine of the sea would never leave him, no matter how far he strayed. That fact certainly hadn't allowed him to acclimate unseen in Avalon, but Ryu had always been at the cynosure of other's attention; where once he was the captain's child, now he was simply the Captain. If the elvhen of Avalon had trouble with him venturing forth, they'd have to get used to it.
"Dare I ask how the Tower is? Have they brain-washed you yet?" Ryu grinned wickedly at that, he knew many on Caribella had their opinions when it came to the authority of not only the crown, but the Tower.
As the Lysaran played the game of theirs, so did Ryu and Valdís played their roles as captains of their respective armadas. They were no longer the children that they once were, running on the deck of the ship and watching Ryu’s dad lead his crew. They were each formidable leaders, growing into their roles as they fought against the tides. Their paths, once side by side, had grown farther and farther away. Every once in a while, they intersected, and she was Unnr once more. Fondness tugs on her chest, even as she offers her friend a sly smirk.
“As you know, the wicked never die,” she snickers as she approaches Ryu, giving him enough time to notice her change of appearance, and running a hand over her hair to draw the eye to the dragon gold ring on her finger. “Looking this good takes effort, Ryu. If you want some advice on that area you only need to ask.”

Avalon was this false hope, a construction of some flimsy barrier to separate himself from his fate. Salvation, however, would not come for someone like him; even if he deserved the position from birth right alone or from his own talent; his wish had pushed the score and none could ever know the truth. The devil who granted this, however, was keen to flip the entire table; volatile and demanding, equipped with threats. Ryu had tried to separate himself from the Leviathan, the crew; but it was in his blood, and he could not simply abandon Caribella, no matter how true such threats became. "I did actually," Ryu grinned in an almost conspiratorial manner, "That infamous gladiator," did he really have to mention them by name for Robin to know? "-His sister all but demanded it and I don't really mind having a noble family in my debt."
"I haven't met many things that could kill me just yet, you know. Maybe it's a bit rougher out there for the half elvhen." Robin gave a small smile, though he was glad to see that the captain was safe, and finally back in Caribella where the Raiders belonged. He glanced back over his shoulder, not one to comment on Elokian's whereabouts and the demon he was finally getting unburdened with. Elo had told him that the ship was Robin's legacy, but the cambion felt like the past would never truly go away that easily. "Ah, no. It's definitely me. I'm the spoiled brat that was raised on the ship, so I get dibs. So where have you been? Pull anyone from the wreck?"

"When you try to sell something do ensure that you're trying to upsell something of value," despite his biting words and normally sour face, Ryu laughed, hearty and emulative of a pirate who had his own fair share of gold hidden around Caribella. "Those on the sea don't give half a damn about the championing gladiator of Lysara's signature," Ryu studied Dior, bruised yet hardly shaken from his experience - at least on the outside - the noble elvhen still grinning madly at Ryu. "Though they'd much prefer your head. You keep grinning like a foolish madman I might have to tell your sister any deal to get you back to Avalon is off." She seemed rather insistent that her brother was to return to Avalon for noble duti-- blah, blah Ryu had stopped listening when it came to their noble responsibilities.
"This hobby is my father's lifework, so you should mind your tongue." Empty threats, for the time being, for Ryu found the Thalasir nobles more puzzling by the minute.
Dior knew the moment he cracked an eye open that the so-called medic had no business patching up anything beyond a torn sail. They’d spent more time feeling over his ribs than dressing them—though he supposed after weeks of blood and torment, there were worse ways to be handled.
When Ryu entered, Dior caught the pirate's subtle nod and grinned faintly. As the 'medic' withdrew with a pout, Dior winked after them. Then he turned his attention fully to Ryu, expression sharpening into that familiar cocky grin, even if it cost him a wince to sit straighter.
“Even in retirement, I’ve got enough coin to fund whatever this hobby of yours is," He let that hang in the air a beat, eyes glinting. “Assuming you’re a fan—and really, who isn’t—I’ll even throw in a gift. A sword forged from my personal metal, signature across the hilt and my face on the base.”

"You're harder to track down than any pirate I've known," and that said something considering Tianyou was inseparable from Areina and she was a literal pegasus with a very prominently pink mane atop her head. Mostly, Ryu had alienated himself from nearly everyone he knew - his crew, his friends; he'd ventured to Avalon as though it was some final saving grace, but the pirate captain found great difficulty in leaving behind everything he'd known. The sea was his home, yet he tried to romanticize Avalon, what it could be; maybe talking to Tianyou would broaden his idea of Avalon, even if it pertained little to him currently. "Was just checking on you," clarified quietly, with a shrug; they were family even if they weren't close, it'd been good to know that, it seemed, he hadn't been captured by the Kossith.

Ryu's ship had docked near the edge of Borderreach, one of the smaller ships in his fleet, specifically chosen to help Kesor find Dior and take them back to Lysara. He didn't owe the high elvhen's any true favors, but Ryu was operating on a hunch, one he'd never be able to confirm, even if the facts continued to be obvious. "I'm making friends for you," lies came so easy now, as though he'd never been beholden to the truth, and a brow raised as Dantalion insisted on violating any personal space. It seemed more reckless than ever and there was that frigid jolt of wonder which struck him, wondering if the mask on Dantalion had fully slipped away for the world to see him in his entirety. "I can't prove it, but I have my suspicions on a certain noble elf," he's certain that'd never be enough to satiate Dantalion, especially considering this other assumed Darkfriend was not his, but Ryu fit into the role of conspirator well.

"You know I was just joking the last time we spoke, right? I'd never do anything to hurt you so there's no need avoid me," Uegg said with the same sickly sweetness that laced his serpentine tongue when their roads initially crossed. He hadn't spoken to Ryujin in such a manner in some time, typically expressing his entitlement to the captain's time and attention through a more forceful will. For the time being it seemed, Uegg was more interested in toying with Ryujin than controlling him. A possession was meant to entertain him after all. "You understand how frustrating you can be though, so can you blame me for exaggerating? It's not fair that I have to compete with inferiors for your company. Especially since all I've ever wanted is what's best for you. You need to be nicer to me and stop trying to make me jealous." Because obviously Ryujin's existence was all about Uegg.

Valdís was an old friend, no matter the performance each of them often pertained to when surrounded by their crew. All pirates had a threshold of loyalty to one another, and though she no longer scrubbed the floors of the Leviathan, Ryu still often saw her as just that young girl; with no insult to her current Captain status, of course. "She lives," Ryu offered from his perch on the barrel situated near the end of the port; his usual resting area. As a child he was often dissuaded from sitting here, but Ryu had never listened and it was now, often, a place where the pirate Captain was able to deeply think. His brows raised in bewilderment though at Valdís' appearance, snickering quietly the way an old friend would, "And with a makeover to boot."

"Good, you're alive," Ryu's presence had indeed been sparse around Caribella lately and he'd not seen Robin since Progress Day had come to a tumultuous end; there was clear relief that the other looked to be well, and thus not one who was recovered from the Kossith dreadnought. "Though," his head cocked to the side, before peering up at Elokian's ship which was docked at the Caribellan port, "-Can we say the same of your Captain? If he's never to return, they really won't allow Calypso to man the position right?" Nothing against the Scorned elvhen but Ryu always rooted for an underdog and in more ways than one Neptune's Fleet belonged partially to Robin.

note: as discussed tee hee
There had been little incentive for Ryu to retrieve Dior, and though the pirate captain was often never swayed by demands from anyone, there was that unspeakable familiarity within Kesor that drove Ryu to accept this missive. It'd be a long sail back to shore, and thankfully the elder of the Thalasir's had taken to skulking quietly at the other end of the massive ship. The younger of the two had been taken to be assessed of his injuries, which was fair to note that their medic on board was likely a sorry excuse for the title, but one which fit the bill all the same.
As Ryu entered the small area below deck, he shooed the pirate masquerading as a medic away with a mere nod, canting his head at Dior, "You and your sister owe me a lot of coin for this, so I hope that retirement of yours wasn't finalized." A lie which slipped easily off the tongue of a darkfriend, a louche grin was perched upon his expression. The infamous gladiator of Lysara in his debt simply because he said so.

"Nonsense, your brother loves Eterna," snorted plainly, he tried not to roll his eyes at how haughty any high elvhen spoke; what mattered currently was that Kesor felt she'd fallen low enough to ask a raider for help. Granted, despite his need to be a nuisance, Ryu could put two and two together considering the political climate with the Kossith was growing rather cumbersome as folks remained terrified inland. Either they knew someone taken or they were sick at the idea of possibly being taken and Kesor proved to be the former. "News of the Kossith is to stay the fuck away from them," Ryu shrugged; this was not a matter for the Raiders; if the Kossith had any coin or fortune on their warships, any Raider was smart enough to look the other way.
"Ever been to Itzcoatal?" Ryu hardly waited for her inevitable retort, shaking his head in a rather dramatic fashion, "Didn't think so. No one gets past their coastline less they've gotten collared. I'll pour one out for your brother." It was rather crass of the pirate captain, but he'd assumed each one taken had their death certificate signed the moment an a'dam went around their necks.
Kesor was learning quickly that it helped to have friends in low places. Or at least friendly acquaintances. Months ago, she would have never associated herself with the likes of pirates. They were greedy, undignified, and beneath her. To think about it now nearly made her laugh a bitter laugh, for even the cruelest amongst the raiders didn’t have a soul as corrupted as hers. Even worse, she now needed their help.
High Elvhen were venturing further and further from home, meaning she had connections now across the mortal realm. Naturally, an Elvhen aligned with the Raiders was drawn to the shore - her shore. She didn’t want to have anything in common with Ryu, and yet, there was something deeply unsettling and familiar about him. Perhaps their souls shared the same affliction, though she righteously assumed she’d done much less to deserve it than he. And as much as she wanted to learn more, and solve her own problems, Dior’s safety had become her primary concern. “If I am far from Avalon, then my brother is even farther.” Her expression was steeled and steady as she tried her best to maintain her composure with only half her heart intact. “Have you heard news of the Kossith? I am certain you’ve eyes and ears everywhere, no?”

note: as discussed! If u need any changes lmk :*
Everyone was always running from something - Ryu learned that early on in life, watching as those green to the ocean came running to Caribella as though the pirate's life seemed a perfect escape. The very principle was solidified in his own life when his soul was gifted to the dark, and Ryu would spend his entire life hoping he could evade it, never once pausing to try and simply live with what he had done. Kesor was another; secrets which could not be explicitly stated, quirks deemed strange, but Ryu had a hunch the noble's soul was similarly stained; the recollection of the sacred tree burning on Sylaise's Shore etched into the pirate's mind.
He didn't need to know Kesor to understand such thing was out of character for a noble of their kind. Seeing her on the docks almost felt like some rising confirmation of their shared secret, something they'd never be able to confirm but understood all the same, "Kesor - you're a long way from Avalon. What brings you to Caribella?" There was a sly grin of curiosity as she approached, raising a brow at the high elvhen who was sorely out of place on the island.

"Yeah?" He sat up from where he'd appeared to be dozing, positioned lazily on a stock of crates, his feet hitting the boardwalk below. Intentionally noisy, he didn't need to sneak up behind Elokian's crewmember, she'd been loose lipped, and it only made Ryu curious, "Going gets tough and you get going? Some crew Elokian put together," Ryu snickered humoredly knowing Calypso likely wouldn't take such ribbing in stride. "Though you're not missing much on the Shore," bait that he'd been within Avalon, knowing how desperately she wanted to return there, "Bunch of stuffy elvhen trying to do some crisis control."
Who: @ryujinseaborn Where: The docks are the new streets
The letter from the Kossith had traveled within the Nightingales circle and she had done a head count for those she cared for, discovered they were safe and wanted to get the hell out of dodge. The waves crashed agaisnt the pier and it seemed the waves were feeling just as she did, an unsteady riptide and she wanted to sail far away from Eterna. For not the first time, she cursed the skies at losing entry to the moongate. "Fucks sake -- what I wouldn't give to be at Sylaise’s Shore." A string of explict mumbles and Moongate can be heard, she'd never directly insult the moongate who felt like an entity on it's own but frustration had her, she failed to notice the creak of the boardwalk behind her.
