Log 36: Lego SICK AWESOME THING.

Hohohohhhhooooooo maybe I'm tootin' my own horn a lil, but how COOL IS THIS??? I made it all by myseeelf (lego sets are a plot by Big Lego TM to try and sell you more legos and SSSSSSTEAL YOUR OWN ABILITY TO MAKE COOL THINGS YOURSELF.) Log 35: Ferr + Lore + Whatever

Here is Ferr. I think I don't like the name but it's not terrible. From same thing as Doelsa (guy from earlierrr.)

I've been kinda just calling what they are Winds cause I read ye ol Epic of Gilgamesh and I liked how they listed a bunch of winds kinda as characters (I don't know how to explain it just go read it it's not even that long.) I guess to explain Ferr and Doelsa and whatnot's deal I have to expositionize you dear reader.

BASICALLY: (this is gonna take a bit)

Takes place in a flat, barren, place with only dirt and that's it. Except for Nature (thing of eyes from earlier.) Nature is the name of the only 'thing' there (I'd call it a god because in terms of Nature's role it's kinda comparable, but I think doing so is a disservice, so I wont.) Theyre the only source of water (cause they have EYES that produce WATER.) They mix the teaaars with the dry dirt to make clay and so make life. They make a bunch of animals and plants and whatever (and for the sake of my sanity (reason to be revealed later) Nature pretty much just made the same flora and fauna we have here on earth with like maybe some variation.) Anyway

Among Nature's creation are people. I need to figure out why, but eventually Nature ends up getting sick and dying. Before they die, they get a group of humans and give each one of their eyes (quite a lot of people then,) and tells them to take a few (1-2) animals and a few (1-2 ish) plants and some number of humans with them and disperse away from Nature's 'Garden' and make their own gardens (zones for life.)

So a ton of Gardens are made away from Nature's.

However, Nature (for a reason I definitely have thought of yet) also creates the Winds. A sort of animal sort of person sort of thing that brings a type of wind with them as they travel, wandering the barrens between the settled gardens. There's quite a few, probably 19. I think that it's kind of cyclical where each Wind chases another one of the winds (in order to keep them moving around the plane so they don't just stay in one spot.) So, Ferr (and Doelsa) are these.

There's a ton more stuff about the villages that arose in the Gardens settled and how Nature died leaving ruins in the center of everything and more stuff but I'll just write that later.

Log 33: Thinking about RedYellow again

I was thinking about how Barren I wanted RedYellow to be, but also somehow still have discernible characters somewhere within the game. I think the campaign thing is a really good idea (sorry rainworld, I'm stealing that) since It could let me show the main one, pretty barren, maybe a few chapters, to one near the beginning of the timeline, probably a lot more people, less barren feeling, to the end of the timeline, completely alone.

I initially thought that once the mentor takes the apprentice, they teach them everything and stay with them until the midpoint, a building of some sorts that resisted time since it's been kept up so well, housing information or lessons or something. Then, after reaching the midpoint, the mentor would sacrificially die or something, leaving the apprentice on their own. However, I think I could just have them stay at the midpoint giving a break from the nothingness of most of the game plus having characters that the apprentice could meet (and that the players might recognize from other campaigns.)

The number of previous mentors at the midpoint probably was rather small at the beginning, grew as the haul became more established, then diminished as the trip became longer and harder to take (due to the cold slowing getting worse and worse over time.)

In the midpoint also is a huge loom. On the way to the other city, after each area in the sequence is a shed of some sort. It has equipment left there for the journeyers to use but also a normal sized version of the loom. The mentor teaches the apprentice to weave depictions of their journey for the next to come. Usually not much is there, as the experience is repetitive, so not much needs to be added. (This is a way of having a warning of what the next part is going to be like.) At the midpoint however, and major events or warning, or, especially history, is woven into the tapestry which is hung continuously from the loom to the walls of the place (probably also on the extensive tunnel system walls as well.) The big loom in the middle is a way of keeping track of the history of the place, for not only the ones there, but also for the players to see.

Oh also: (Had this idea a while ago but never put it here)

As food is hard to come by, one source of food, on the thinner ice sheets, is breaking a hole, and plunging your hand into the water. This will attract a strange inky black appendage to reach out of the water, sensing the disturbance. With the sword you have to try and slice off the tentacle, which will cause the rest of the tentacle, still attached, to retreat. Might be gross, but that is one of the sources of food. (Though it's hard to carry all that with you, some might have to be smoked, or buried in the ice to save for the next people to come behind you.)

(oh god typing all this out is giving me ideas I can't stop typing)

That probably means that they actually leave a lot of extra stuff buried for the travelers behind them, which could be a way of collecting loot or stuff extra. Space management could encourage the leaving of other stuff. (Not all players will bury things properly, so in their campaigns following, they might have a harder time finding buried/preserved food or other stuff)

Here's some paper art. These are trial designs for Naori (from same thing believe it or not, they look similar for a reason lmao.) I like the cowboy influence but I think it's too cowboy-y considering it's not taking place in ye ol wild west. I like the hair braid thing though. Also I don't know why they have swords cause that's not their thing at all. I think I just did it cause it was COOL or something.

Log 31: Devestation. (Plus also Other Stuff)

Progress on the Centipede Sword had been utterly ruined, along with my day and current mental state. They shall pay.

HOWEVER, in the meantime, I will post what I have so far of a drawing I've been working on. Usually I'd wait for me to uh actually FINISH it you know before posting, but for some reason all motivation has been sapped from my intestines (the well known source of all motivation) and this is the only thing I can think to do about it.

Log 28: Random Drawing

Hark! Behold this strange fellow!

This is not from anything, just got possessed to draw some sort of knight character and did. I think the hands are great and it's pretty good overall maybe. Solid 6/10 (gold.)

Also: BandLab is a terrible website that has been down for the last like TWO MONTHS, therefore I have NOT BEEN ABLE to create ANY MUSIC. This is killing me. I refuse to switch to anything else.

Log 27: Fire Guy

Its been a while so I thought I’d put some old art I did up here.

This character is a proto-design for one of the people who breathe fire (in thing Heltegrose is from.) The cloak is meant to be fire repressant via it being heavy (though it would also trap heat well so maaaaybe not the best idea but whatever). The big collar is there for one reason. It looks cool. It is completely antithetic to the character cause it would totally be super duper flammable, BUT, its cool factor outweighs the menial nooooonsense. If anything, I do wish I had made it more colourful, but ehh it’s fine. I know I have more art of them somewhere but I have no clue where and do nooooot feel like looking right now.

Log 26: New Individual

Heltegrose.

Is this person's name. From the same thing as Strange Guy TM (just look at the other posts I don't have time to explain this.) I've been anguishing over their (and another's) character design for waaaay too long, but this looks pretty cool right? The one with the sun visard* is way different looking but it's the same person. The middle two are some digital art I did and as you can see, one is of them fire breathing (epic) and one is a normal one (with burns stuff.) The coloured one is either before they have the burns n stuff or is just a silly, idk, but it looked pretty neat. I hope you think they are cooooool.

VOCAB WORD: Visard (also spelled Vizard) is a black (velvet) mask held over the face by a small bead held between the teeth rather than a rope or something to fasten it to the face. Used to be worn by traveling women in 1500-1800(ish) Europe. They were seen as kinda really creepy by people who weren't familiar with them, especially because (since it was held in the mouth by the bead) wearers of the mask didn't talk. They were worn as a fashion statement but stemmed from wanting to protect/preserve the pale skin of women in the time period (but is now being used by me because it looks SICK). There were many variations but this specific style (black velvet and having no mouth hole) originate in France and are called Moretta or Servetta Muta more specifically. (THANK YOU WIKIPEDIA)

Log 24: Good at Drawing Now??

It seems that I have been possessed by being good at drawing so here is art from recent endeavors.

Here is a drawing of a Strange Guy.

It has no name yet, and, because I am a freak who can't just stick to one project for the life of me, is from a DIFFERENT thing than Starling Thing. It's fine tho cause it does look pretty cool. It's inspired a bit by Aztec gods, but very loosely cause I'm not knowledgeable enough on any of them at all lmao. Also don't pay attention to how the head looks different every single time I draw it, I have a really good excuse I just haven't thought of it yet.

Here is art of two strange creatures, who are not from anything, just weird.

If you'll look at the picture, you'll see that it's really good for no reason. Yurr. If anything I should've made the lanky one looking at the other, but meh it's fine, still proud of it.

These look better in person T_T but my phone camera will have to do for now.

Log 23: Sword.

Alright I tried (not very hard it seems,) but I can't keep this FANTASTIC project a secret... YOU NEED TO KNOWWW

I carve swords out of wood, I've made one finished one and a spear. There's one abandoned project, and my NEWEST entry into the menagerie of wood carving nonsense is the plan for THIS BEAUTY

If you zoom in, you can see the details and description for most of the stuff. I've begun honing the wood for it and it's currently 5'6 (will be slightly shorter when done, but not by much.) BAHH ITS GONNA BE SO COOL. I would give it a really cool name, but I think that unless I get a reaaaally good one, I shouldn't.

I'll recap what most of the notes on the paper say --

Basically the blade will have (art of) a centipede sprawling down the whole thing winding with either a snake (at the beginning) or vine (at the end.) If you zoom in, you can see the rabbits being chased by the snake and also the two lines of ants as well. The handle, when spring arrives, will hopefully be made mostly of hand-made (by me) twine. This thing is gonna be huge and awesome and REALLY COOL.

Log 22: Not Much Happening

Welp, not much is happening, gotta say. Work on previous mentioned cool thing is tough cause I can't work on it right now (too cold outside.) And I haven't been doing much creating creating. That's okay though, I'll get back to it's soon, I'm sure.

Spec Bio - just a little bit, kinda dabbling, I have some work done for that but none past the cell stage for evolution, bahh. Praise be to the mighty Artifexian though for the fantastic Worldforge spreadsheet though, cause now I have most of the astronomic stuff figured out yurr

Flute - I have acquired a flute! I have no clue how to play it but I am learning. It might just be hot cross buns now, but gimme a week and Mozart (famous flutist??) will be killed by my *great* skills (I hope nothing gets to him first, that'd be a real shame)

Starling Thing - (Now placeholder name of the thing with Owl, Oedna, and them) I've done sooome work on the actual chapter layouts but not gonna share that tho cause that's top secret B) but I'll be able to start actually drawing it (not at all) soon probably. Oh also! I've compiled a bunch of the art of the characters in a large book, so I should actually put the pictures here probably!! Here's three of the pages:

The first one has four, Squash (the little cat lookin fella,) Minah, (in the top right corner, there's more art of them somewhere, not in here yet though), Roen (Rowan) in the bottom right corner, and Doshti (on the bottom left of the 2nd page). The second picture is just a picture of Leveret's page, who (if following along) you've seen before.

The paper might be a bit sparse, but there's more art to come, I promise :prayer hands:

Log 21: Cookin' something Up + Drawings

SADLY I cannot post the photo of the plan yet, but I am cookin' up somethin FIRE. I'll take photos and make a post of the progression once it's done and I can post it.

I feel bad just posting "oo I'm GONNA do something" so here's more stuff.

So here's some pictures for Owl, Jay, and Hawk, from the thing Oedna and Leveret are from (I need a name for it ;-; I don't have one yet, I'll figure it out tho probably)

You can see here that for the original design I wanted to do a mane/face framing thing of butterfly wings, but sadly it didn't work. I'm happy with the final one tho.
