I’m feeling impulsive

The Palestinian people want their land back. They’re fine with Jewish people and Israelis, what they aren’t fine with is the illegal occupation of their land.

Question

I’m not going to pretend I’m not ignorant of all the issues on the Middle East, being the typical uninformed American. I realize that Palestine was predominantly Palestinian for the fast few hundred years, until the British screwed everything up after WW1 and all the refugees starts showing up after WW2. I understand all the uproar about the Jerusalem capital issue. I guess what I’m wondering is what is the ultimate goal of the two sides? Does Israel want to deport every non-Israeli? Do Palestinians want the state of Israel to not exist? Do they not want any Jews in the Palestine/the Middle East/whatever? Is there any unified consensus on either side what they want? I’m not trying to be sarcastic or provocative, I really don’t know and would like some explanation.
