Hey guys, so when I made this post, I was extremely frustrated and annoyed. Now that I’m way more mellowed out and had the chance to read a lot of reactions and responses, let me act my age and actually clarify some things.

First, I want to apologize to those who were deeply upset by my post. My post overall was towards those who claim they don’t write for a specific audience, and yet put specific descriptions in their work. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with adding certain details to your reader, such as gender or body type. The issue comes in when you don’t properly title and tag it as so, or completely ignore it altogether.

If you see my post as an eye opener and want to change up your work, then you have every right to do so, but please do not think that this is an attack or jive directed at you. It’s just that some of us readers want exactly as promised. That’s like blindfolding someone, telling them that you’re gonna feed them an apple, and then making them bite into a banana - peel and all.

I know some writers have said that they want to be more inclusive in response to my criticism. If that is what you truly want, then by all means, but I cannot stress enough: write what YOU want to write. Do not feel as though you’re being pressured to change what you put out; it’s just a means of how you categorize it.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read, respond, and engage with my original post. I truly appreciate the perspectives shared, they’ve helped me see things more clearly and refine my thoughts.

After that everything was fine until Empress Dowager—Sae’s formidable mother—awaited you. She circled you like a hawk, her sharp eyes missing nothing.

"Hold out your hands," she commanded. You obeyed, and she hummed, turning them over. "Soft. Good. A noblewoman’s hands."

Then came the worst part.

She gripped your hips, pressing firmly. "Hmm. Narrow, but not impossible." Your face burned. Is she checking if I can bear children? Seriously what is wrong with these people!? I just turned 17 and you're already expecting me to bear children?

Next, she pinched your chin, forcing your mouth open to inspect your teeth. You clenched your fists, humiliation prickling under your skin. Then, her thumb swiped roughly under your left eye.

"You have dirt here," she muttered.

"That’s—that’s a mole," you stammered.

She frowned but didn’t apologize. Instead, she clapped her hands. "You will be measured for your wedding gown tomorrow."

You swallowed. "I… already brought my own gown. From my kingdom."

Her lips thinned. "This is our empire. You will wear our designs. Simple. Elegant. Not those… frilly, excessive things your people favor."

Your nails dug into your palms. The insult stung, but you forced a smile. "Of course, Your Majesty."

That night, as servants prepared your chambers, you made a decision.

So then you had the best escape idea, to go climb to the other side of the wall so that you could run away easily

"Careful," a low voice said.

You looked up and froze.

A young man stood before you, tall and striking, his sharp green eyes studying you with mild amusement. He wore simple but finely made clothes, his posture relaxed yet regal.

Oh no. A noble? A guard?

You swallowed. "I—I apologize. I’m… in a bit of a hurry." as you tried climbing again.

One dark brow arched. "Are you in need of some kind of assistance, My Lady?"

"I am... quite fine thank you, you can go back inside now" you replied unbotheredly

"I will... But first I'm curious, what are you doing?" He asked, curiously obvious form his tone

"Nothing", you replied as you finally managed to hold on to the top,

"You're doing something" he replied, Well no shit, just leave me alone.

"I'm not" you hissed under your breath, why couldn't he just leave you alone?

"You are." He replied again, just as you gave up, the layers if your skirt made it too hard to climb by yourself, you stopped climbing and turned to look at him.

"The Emperor, no one speak of him, not even when I ask. He's probably a cruel person, that everyone fears, like an ugly beast."

"Understood." he replied, as if he was holding a laugh,

You paid no mind to him, trying to find a way to climb the wall, honestly it was hard to see since it was dark out, but then you finally found a way.

"You know if I could grab there... Yes!" you muttered to yourself as you placed your foot on one of the branches.

"You could assist me by lifting me up" you continued gripping one of the branches tightly.

"You what me to lift you over the wall, so you may escape?" you hated the tone of his voice, why was he amused about this, does everyone in this damn empire has to be weird?

"That is what I said," you said calmly, calm down (Y/N) if he helps you, you can escape so try your best to be nice.

His lips twitched. "I have no intention of helping you."

That made you jump off the wall and walk towards him, "I'm a lady in distress," you said your voice betraying your frustration "You refuse to help a lady in distress?"

A slow smirk curled his mouth. "I refuse when that lady in distress if that lady is trying to go over a wall so that she does not have to marry me."

Your blood turned to ice.
