hey! i (serval) might be moving accounts. That’s not to say I’ll never come back, but I don’t particularly love it right here. it feels like there isn’t enough room to be myself because it was propagated by someone who was here long long before me

my new place won’t be alterhumanity based at all.. I AM an animal and i always WILL be but i don’t think i benefit much from talking about it exclusively .. I have a lovely support system who listens to these parts of me so I don’t feel the need to save them for a tumblr blog anymore

Sometimes I genuinely want to reblog some of these posts just swapping every instance of "human" for "gay" and "misanthropy" for "homophobia," because it really puts it into perspective.

"But of course I know there are good humans out there -" Saying something to the effect of "Gay people are horrible" and then following up with "but of course I know there are good gays out there <3" doesn't actually make you not homophobic.

"But humans have actually done bad things that destroy the planet -!" 90% of my mom's internalized homophobia stems from real gay people she knew who intentionally spread HIV to other people, and that being her only exposure to the queer community before, like, me. Do you think that makes it fair for someone to be homophobic? Because a small proportion of the gay community does terrible things? Like, no, right? So why do you think it's fair for you to act misanthropic because a small proportion of the human species does terrible things?

over the moon… took myself to the zoo to stay late and see the serval and i was so happy!! she was so active and came right up to me..

in the vid above she’s vocalizing and understandably pretty irritable — she’s in good condition and was standing in the perch slightly above her enclosure.. servals show a broad range of personality and can be very temperamental — especially females. servals will hiss over just about anything.. i’d seen a young male get embarrassed over missing a meatball he had leapt for and subsequently knocked on the ground with his head. he sat with his back turned to his handler and hissed about it

i’ll need to upload the photos i got from my actual camera but she also just.. walked right up to me and stared into the lens for so long, it made me so happy. i’d been sitting there for some time just watching her roam around so it was really a matter of patience..

anyways. day made!!! i love seeing servals in good conditions!!

Misanthropists... you are not evil for your thoughts on humanity being negative... I don't share the same beliefs or sentiment about humanity, but your experiences are valid, and you don't owe anybody love for the human race. Nobody owes anyone positive feelings, especially if there's a justified reason for those negative feelings.

Shoutout to the misanthropists who are nonhuman because of their misanthropy, by the way. As well as misanthropists who are misanthropic due to being disabled and were often mistreated by humans due to their disability.

As long as you aren't harming anyone else based on them being human, you're fine, and I don't think you're evil... I see it almost the same way humans hate mosquitoes with a passion. You have every right to feel the way you do, and you don't owe anybody an explanation for your feelings.
