If you start living for the smallest reasons, that’s when you know you’re really living. The smell of rain after a thunderstorm, the shades of pavements when it’s autumn, the harvest season and the unspoken competition to pick the freshest tomatoes, the mediocre midnights and the color of the sunsets, the smell of bakeshops early in the morning, the frosty breeze of the fast-approaching winter, the warmth of oven when baking Christmas cookies, the thickness of paper when flipping through magazine pages, the smell of new books and new clothes and new things. When you start looking at things, really really looking, you’ll start living. Because then you’ll understand how it is to really be a human in this world full of people.
and that is what we consider magic (via cageofstars)

There’s nothing in life quite like autumn. Misty mornings and rainy afternoons. The crisp cool feeling that hangs in the air. A sense of warmth that comes from within. It’s nothing less than magical, really.

They may love you, but it all boils down to who provides them with the most attention, and their will-power to stay loyal. Some people are so easily distracted.

sgt-charlie-bennett :
Her palms were warm and soft against his cheeks as she drew his face down to hers, pressing her lips to his. “Mmm,” he murmured, returning the kiss, “I’m happy to be back, Sam.” As much as he needed his freedom, returning home was always a relief, especially with his beautiful wife and son waiting for him there. Speaking of his son, he could hear the approach of the boy, calling for his mother.
As soon as he rounded the gate between his aunt’s house and theirs, his calls changed for his father. “What can I say? I’m pretty popular in these parts.” He teased, pressing one last kiss to her lips.
Charging across the lawn, Charlie watched in amusement as his son made a wide detour around Sam’s beloved garden plot. He turned away from Sam slightly, one arm out to catch the hurtling figure of his son as he collided with both parents. He wrapped it around the boy’s shoulders, squeezing him to him with a chuckle. “Hey, buddy. I heard you practicing. You’re getting good!”
He’d been so utterly terrified when Sam had told him they were expecting over a decade ago. In a world like theirs, it seemed like there was no way anyone should be having kids. But life went on, and now? He wouldn’t trade this life for the world.
“How’s things been around here? Been taking care of Mom and Maddie for me?”
“See, darling: I don’t mind one bit.” Sam smiled up at her husband and chuckled. She loved her son with all her heart and if some cruel kind of fate would make her chose between Charlie and her son- well, she’d even rather give her own life than Levy’s. Still, a ten year old could be exhausting, especially when he deliberately chose to be. Maddie helped a lot, still Levy rather saw her as a friend.
Biting her lower lip softly, Sam could still taste that since long familiar taste that Charlie left behind and made her smile. She watched her son run towards them with furrowed brows, worried about the work she just finished. In the end, her son was thoughtful enough to not run straight through the beds, but rather sprinted around them in a wide circle.
With Levy not even bothering to slow down once he got closer, Sam nearly lost her balance when he simply ran into his parents with arms wide open, wrapping them - mostly around Charlie- around the both of them. The way her son was looking up at Charlie, Sam could see the pure admiration and she didn’t fail to see love in her husbands eyes for their son too. Moments like these reassured Sam in everything her life had came to be.
Levy looked up at his dad with wide eyes and there was pride in his voice, so obvious once he answered. “I practiced every day! Can you guess what song it was?” He was looking at his father expectantly and Sam couldn’t help but smirk, glad she didn‘t have to walk into that mine field today. “There were new people only once and I saw them before they even got close.” Thankfully, they’d been harmless. They had even brought pumpkin seeds, Sam hadn’t found any yet, to trade for shelter for the night and a warm meal. It had been a man and a woman in their early twenties. They had probably never seen the world as it had been before.

delilahstones :
Visitors were not such a rare thing these days – her kind and accommodating nature had gained her quite a few friends and allies. Which was just great if you asked her; it meant she would never be lonely as often as she used to be. Delilah even had a beautiful man on her arm most of the time, and she couldn’t really ask for better. The blonde was already halfway to the door as soon as the knock had begun, momentarily leaving their five-year-old in their bed to answer. Her expression was neutral as she asked politely, “Hello! What can I do for you?”
There was apple-pie in the bow in Sam’s right hand and another, smaller hand in Sam’s left. Sam mostly took Levy with her whenever she left the garden and today was no exception. Though he was already ten, sometimes, like today, he was especially lively and bubbly and he was clinging on to Sam’s hand while bouncing back and forth talking about his day. When they reached their destination, Sam simply knocked and waited. Levy still talking next to her. He finally stopped doing so once the door opened and they were greeted by a familiar face. “Hey, Delilah. I hope we’re not interrupting anything? I brought some pie.”
