Shadowsugar apology !!

No, I cannot think of a better name.

I'm bored, so here's a crappy shadowsugar fic that I wrote a bit ago—

I haven't really wrote in a while, it's not very good. I'll get better with time.

For context, this is post-canon (as of now).

The beasts have agreed to allowing the ancients to help redeem them... And part of that is Hollyberry and Pure Vanilla aiding Eternal Sugar and Shadow Milk in fixing their relationship.

Well, all of them, but those two specifically.

Because they're exes.

Also it's formatted kinda weirdly because I don't know how to make it look nice on Tumblr I wrote it in the notes app and Discord OKAYANYWAY

"Sugar... I'm sorry."

"Sorry..?" The sweet cookie almost sounded offended.

"I-..."

The blue jester sighs, anxiously looking behind him at his counterpart, who supportively nods and smiles at him. He turns his head to face Eternal Sugar again.

"The... truth... is, I had the same motive that you've always had. When it started... I wanted to keep people happy. I... I thought that I could... lie to everyone. Hide the knowledge of... of what we were made for... because if others knew, it would drive them mad."

"It seems the knowledge of why we are here drove you mad, Shadow Milk."

The clown sighed.

"When you started- pulling 'pranks-' they weren't funny. You hurt people. You hurt me-"

"I know, Sugar!"

The blue cookie got louder than he'd intended. "I got... so, so carried away. And I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! I was a jerk." He looks like he's tearing up... it has been a while since the Sugar of Happiness has seen the once Fount of Knowledge cry.

She isn't very fond of the fact that seeing him like this once again immediately makes her feel bad for him.

"I've been a fool, Sugar. Trying to get attention in the most idiotic of ways, especially from you."

His blue face goes even bluer.

Blush.

Eternal Sugar has missed that sight.

He quickly and thoroughly wipes away his tears.

"I've... been lonely. I've missed you. And it's my fault, for how I treated you and your people, but-"

Shadow Milk reaches for one of the beauty's hands with two of his own. He even gets down on one knee... Gosh, he's always been so dramatic. Still, the action doesn't fail to make her blush. He quite enjoys seeing her blush.

"I want you to know that I acknowledge my wrongdoings. I want to be better. I want to be..."

Eternal Sugar looks down at him. Now having a, perhaps, hopeful look in her eyes...

"I want to be your friend again. Acquaintances, at least."

The now flushed angel doesn't pull her hand away. The joker places a gentle kiss on her hand- gentlemanly, as he used to be.

"Oh, Shadow..." Eternal Sugar smiles at the action. It warms her candy heart, reminding her of times past...

The blue cookie stands up, and the two allow their hands to part.

"...Acquaintances. Until I get to know you again."

Her voice is gentle, and beautiful as ever.

Shadow Milk is a bit disappointed, but happy. He's done well. His former partner has every right to not fully forgive him immediately, and he can accept that.

"Thank you, dearly beloved. You won't regret it~!"

And with that last line, he's back to his silly self, excitedly floating over to his other half, who is proud of how much he's improved. Eternal Sugar looks at the two delightedly.

Acquaintances... And soon they can be friends again. Perhaps even more than that. Years and years of regret, suffering, arguing, missing each other... And now they have hope again, thanks to the Ancient Heroes aiding them. Eternally grateful, that's what they are. Eternal Sugar now looks forward to her future interactions with Shadow Milk...
